OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Rape, incest, or doctor certified physical life of the mother being at risk.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Review every agency that is not listed in the Constitutional duties of government and start with those.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
It means the church is free from government interference. This is why I don't believe in government mandating marriage between a man and woman, because if we do that, we've asked/allowed government to involve itself in marriage, which is a church institution. The door is now open for further intrusion. I personally believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, but if I am going to protect my faith by keeping government out of my faith, I must keep government out of my faith by not letting it into the church in any way, shape or form. Plus, I don't believe that I have the right as an individual, or especially a government official, to dictate to others how to live their lives, especially through legislation.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Open up state borders to competition and let people choose the coverage they want, bring transparency to the hospital and pharmaceutical industry, eliminate unnecessary or redundant regulation, allow competition among healthcare providers and determine a suitable system for pre-exisiting conditions.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Those that are without a criminal record, are productive citizens, have passed a background check and want to be an American.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was born into the Lutheran faith and have been and will remain a practicing member. I was baptized at, have been a lifelong member of and have served as Elder at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, and I continue to serve there in other official capacities. I also believe that every individual is unique and has the right to worship as God intended when He gave us free will.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I believe in the federal and state Constitutions, as they are written and not interpreted. Both federal and state Constitutions severely limit government and recognizes and protects everyone's rights equally. History has shown the dangers of government intervention into our personal lives and the markets, and the Founding Fathers, being collectively excellent students of history and government, crafted the federal Constitution to protect the people from such intervention. As every elected official is required to swear or affirm an oath to uphold the Constitution, they are still the law of the land and our governing guides.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am a Marine Corps veteran and started and have been running my own small business for 21 years. I am excellent with people from all walks of life, from building an excellent relationship with my employees to my ever-broadening customer base. Between being a city councilman and state representative, I have held public office for over 13 years and know the system and know how to work with people, while maintaining my integrity and commitment to my oath to uphold both Constitutions.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I care deeply about serving the people and absolutely love representing them in government. As someone that believes in the Constitutions as they are written, I am extremely fair to everyone, as the Constitutions protect everyone equally. I am extremely passionate and have shown the leadership and courage necessary to continue to represent the people and will continue to serve with the values and principles that are based on my faith, beliefs and convictions of fairness, equality and respect for the individual and their rights.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None, other than hold people accountable for their actions. Self defense is the first law of nature and we must return to respecting our rights that are protected by the 2nd Amendment. We must also hold those people that abuse their 2A rights accountable for their actions and stop letting violent offenders out of prison early.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Agree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1) I will be pushing for Constitutional Carry, which is the elimination of the licensing requirement for our 2A rights. 2) I will be pushing to decriminalize cannabis, in both medical and recreational form. After years of study and talking to hundreds of people, particularly the elderly, cannabis use must be made available without fear of criminalization. The benefits of cannabis FAR outweigh the negatives and the amount of resources society spends arresting, prosecuting, sentencing and incarcerating non-violent people for using a plant that has been used by man medically and recreationally for thousands of years and is significantly safer than alcohol is a monumental waste of taxpayer dollars and has destroyed millions of innocent lives by a criminal arrest and/or conviction. 3) I will continue to push for parental choice in public education.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No, it is not the threat it is being made out to be, but the accusation of racism has been weaponized and exploited. Yes, there is racism, just as there is prejudice, bigotry, and many other human vices that are inherent in human nature. These will never go away completely, as this is part of human nature. However, I believe the term and accusations of "racism" are being exploited for monetary gain and/or power. The destructive accusation of being labeled a racist today is similar to the accusations of being a witch centuries ago, minus the death penalty, and we're seeing this exploitation play out in several cities across America.
