OTHER INFORMATION

Voted Yes for House Roll Call Vote 1337 pro-life 2016 which was the final concurrence vote in the Indiana House on a pro-life bill from this session that banned abortion because of race, gender or disability and also mandated that abortion clinics must dispose of aborted babies through a relationship with a funeral home via either burial or cremation. Currently they are allowed to treat aborted baby bodies as "medical waste". Voted Yes for House Roll Call Vote HJR 3 to remove 2nd sentence of the Marriage Amendment 2014 which defined marriage as between one man and one woman. HJR 3 stripped the Marriage Amendment of its second sentence, which essentially killed the constitutional process. Voted No for SB 20 sexual orientation 2016 which is an amendment to a bill in the Indiana House that would have added special protections for "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" into state law.
Introduced Constitutional Carry bill

QUESTIONNAIRE*

*Additional information was received after the evaluation was assigned and was not considered in the Panel Evaluations, therefore it is for additional educational purposes only.
RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I believe innocent life is precious and must be protected. But I also strongly believe in the death penalty for those that have earned it.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

No taxpayer dollars should go to any group that provides abortions.

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

This is, or should be common sense.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Rape, incest, and actual physical life of the mother being at risk.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

This is a personal responsibility issue. We have safety nets for the truly needy and if we are to have a discussion about a livable income, it must start with the FairTax.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

This is a centuries old concept and the foundation of civilized Western society; from Locke and Smith. History has shown these principles to be the cornerstone of a truly free society and has created more prosperity and peace than any other form of government in history.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Government intervention in any and every sector destroys the inherent market pricing mechanisms and eventually makes everything more expensive. Given the high percentage of young adults that are leaning towards Socialism, this indicates a strong need for a top to bottom re-evaluation of our entire education system.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would turn DOGE loose, eliminate USAID and any other agency where massive fraud and waste are found, and prosecute and imprison bad actors with lengthy prison sentences. Eliminate the Department of Education and audit every agency.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Disagree

The state should not be involved in marriage at all, only for contractual purposes. I believe marriage is a union before God, but I don't have the right to force my religious beliefs onto others. God gave us free will over our souls, so who am I to dictate to another what their beliefs should be?

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

We have religious protections under the 1st Amendment, we just have to assert it. We must also strongly examine Islam to determine if its adherence to Sharia law, which conflicts with Constitutional law, can be classified as a religion.

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

I am a lifelong member and past Elder of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod and have sworn an oath several times to uphold our Constitutions, which explicitly protect our religious freedoms.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The State cannot force anyone to adhere to any religious practices and the State is prohibited from interfering in true religious practices.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

Government interference in the market place has destroyed the natural pricing mechanisms of free market principles and we have ample proof of this, as medical care started to become unaffordable with Medicaid and Medicare, and the growth of third-party payer insurance companies. Obamacare has obviously destroyed affordability and only created monopolies that are more concerned with shareholders and not patients or patient outcome.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Instantly break up the insurance monopolies, allow national and local companies to specialize in individual, not employer provided coverage, like we do auto and homeowners insurance, allow and encourage competition among companies that focus on the individual coverage. Break up the monopoly the AMA has over healthcare and allow more medical schools to open. Prevent pharmaceutical companies from advertising on television. Eliminate and prohibit PBM's and make charges transparent.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

We must have a military that is as much a deterrent as it is capable and one that provides such an unfair advantage for our service men and women that gives pause to those that wish to challenge us. We must also have leadership moral enough to not abuse it but strong enough to unleash it's full potential decisively and immediately when needed.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Absolutely, and it should be impassable. A 30' wall of concertina wire would be a great start with strict and severe punishment for those caught coming here illegally. But we must also have a rational path to citizenship for those willing to come here and be productive loyal Americans.

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

We have border laws for a reason and those that purposely ignore these laws should have any and all taxpayer funds denied.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

America should be for those people that pledge to come to America to become Americans, swear an oath to support and uphold the Constitution, are able bodied and contribute to society and are not be wards of the state.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

This is in our founding documents and just as true today. As John Adams stated "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

We the People means everyone and I don't believe in classification of people.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod and I believe in Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sins. I believe we have an obligation of personal responsibility and accountability, but also an obligation to help those that truly need help, and charity should come from the individual or private sector. I also believe in "Live and let live" and I have no right to force my beliefs onto others, nor do they.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

A photo ID should be mandatory to prove you are who you say you are.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College protects small states and rural areas from denser populated areas and was created for this reason. It must remain, otherwise America as we know it will cease to exist and a civil war would not be far behind.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No. True racism is abhorrent, but the Left has weaponized the label to crush dissent and differing opinion. Sadly, because of this, I believe it has detracted from and made people numb to true racism.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

I believe in Jesus Christ, the traditional family, individual liberty, the Constitution as it is written, personal responsibility and individual responsibility to help the needy, limited government, truly free markets, holding individuals and corporations accountable, and the sovereignty of a nation to control who comes into their country. We must also hold accountable those that bring harm or fraud to people.

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I have thousands of social media posts confirming this on Facebook since 2008 confirming this.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I graduated high school in 1982, I am a Marine Corps veteran, small business owner for 27 years, was elected to Seymour City Council for 2 terms and Indiana State representative for 7 terms. I am currently seeking my 8th term as State Representative. I love serving the people and have a proven track record of having the courage for standing up for what I believe in.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I have a controversial reputation because I stand up for what I believe in and I stand by my reputation.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Sharia law should be outlawed. period. American government is bound by Constitutional law and no other law is valid and anything that challenges the authority of the Constitution should be banned.

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

Yes! Our Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms, which is our best form of self-defense, should not end at a geographical line. "Gun free zones" have been proven as places that make people that obey gun laws easy victims for those that don't obey gun laws. This would also serve as a deterrent to those thinking of doing harm. I have actually Authored and passed legislation that permits and trains teachers that want to carry.

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None. The 2nd Amendment is crystal clear on this issue. However, we must prosecute and if convicted, lock up those that have been committed of a crime. Appropriate sentences should match the severity of the crime and repeat offenders should have their sentences doubled. This will eventually make society a much safer place by separating the bad guys from the good guys. But, we should not justify the taking of a Constitutionally protected right based on the actions of those that abuse it.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Agree

Just like the prohibition era, we are not controlling it now and we're just enabling the black market to control it. It is considerably safer than alcohol and has medical benefits. It has also been shown to be a good alternative to alcohol for recreational purposes. We are foolish to continue to waste valuable resources by criminalizing it, arresting, prosecuting and jailing people for it when we should be taxing it, controlling it, and holding only those people that abuse it accountable.

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Adding a firing squad to our death penalty. Putting strict 4th Amendment guardrails on the use of Flock camera and privately owned devices that collect personal data. Campus carry.
