OTHER INFORMATION
Voted Yes for House Roll Call Vote 1337 pro-life 2016 which was the final concurrence vote in the Indiana House on a pro-life bill from this session that banned abortion because of race, gender or disability and also mandated that abortion clinics must dispose of aborted babies through a relationship with a funeral home via either burial or cremation. Currently they are allowed to treat aborted baby bodies as "medical waste". Voted Yes for House Roll Call Vote HJR 3 to remove 2nd sentence of the Marriage Amendment 2014 which defined marriage as between one man and one woman. HJR 3 stripped the Marriage Amendment of its second sentence, which essentially killed the constitutional process. Voted No for SB 20 sexual orientation 2016 which is an amendment to a bill in the Indiana House that would have added special protections for "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" into state law.
Introduced Constitutional Carry bill
QUESTIONNAIRE*
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Life of the mother at risk, rape or incest
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
If a patient is terminal and extreme pain and of sound mind, this is a decision between the patient and doctor.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None, and the First Amendment protects us from this.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Rights of conscience is one of our most sacred rights.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes, Israel is an extremely important ally of America.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Ultimately it would be D. But it took us several decades to get where we are and there are too many people embedded in our current system to just stop it overnight. A controlled weaning away from taxpayer funded/controlled healthcare to a free market system that is rationally regulated while promoting competition would be the best.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Never.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Free market capitalism is far and away the best economic way possible for a country to operate and provide a way to work out of poverty.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
There should not be a minimum wage. Wage and benefits should be decided between the employee and the employer.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
Absolutely not.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Shut down the borders, implement a 6 month timeframe and provide those that are here illegally a flight to their home country and deny any foreign aid to the countries that won’t accept their citizens. After 6 months, cut off ALL welfare and grants to those that are here illegally or any NGO’s. Make it illegal to hire, sell or rent to anyone here illegally and make the penalty for doing so hurt. Implement a rational pathway to become a US citizen. Tax all money being sent out of America at 30%.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
We should forego federal education dollars due to the strings attached and the compliance costs. Deregulate the system and empower teachers to start their own educational academies and encourage different types of teaching systems to develop.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None, but hold people accountable for their abuse of this right.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
I Authored legislation that is now law that has a specific training program for school staff that the state pays for upon completion. This law leaves the decision up to the school to adapt, or not. https://iga.in.gov/pdf-documents/123/2023/house/bills/HB1177/HB1177.05.ENRS.pdf
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Protect us from physical harm and fraud. The Constitution outlines the duties of government very well.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I consider myself a (small l) libertarian Constitutional Conservative. I believe in a very limited (Constitutionally bound) government and respecting peoples individual rights. With rights come responsibilities and we should hold people accountable for their actions while accepting our moral responsibilities.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Natural biology should be recognized and taught.
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Neutral
Parents have the responsibility of their children and this should be respected and protected. But they should not be allowed to mutilate their bodies.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Never.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Government is expressly prohibited from infringing our religious rights by the First Amendment.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod), was an Elder and am still an active member. I believe in the traditional family of man and wife, but I do not have the right to tell others how to live their life.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Voting is one of the most important rights we have and it should be treated and protected as such.
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College is one of the greatest gifts given to us by the Founding Fathers and must be protected.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. However, sadly and regrettably there will always be racist people as human beings are emotional beings. The accusation of racism is being exploited for gain and fear by those that can profit from it or use it for political gain. It needs to be denounced at all times.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
See my explanation in #1.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
Biological males should never be allowed to compete with or share women’s spaces.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
C. America is energy rich and we have the technology to responsibly develop all energy sources, particularly nuclear. Bad actors and those companies that knowingly create health or environmental hazards should be heavily fined and officers prosecuted.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Nuclear, but we must create a rational and reasonable regulatory environment with accountability.
