What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Government does not create new jobs or products for the marketplace that do not cost the taxpayer. Texas has created (in most cases) an environment, through good policies, that is business friendly and allows the marketplace to flourish with a light touch approach of low taxes, eliminating lawsuit abuse, and a regulatory system that is predictable and fair. Good government keeps its citizens free from those that would do them harm or take harmful advantage of the vulnerable, while allowing for growth in ideas, marketplace, and innovation in the state. Good government gets out of the way and lets the free market do its work. A good, thriving, free market will elevate all those who are in the market, including those that are unemployed and underemployed
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
There are four ways that government can help boost the economy: 1. Lower taxes 2. Limit regulations to only those that are necessary to ensure the public’s safety. 3. Limit spending to only those core functions of government. Not spend more than we take in, and not take in one dime more than is needed for those core government functions. 4. Not spend money that our kids and grandkids will have to pay back.

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
The answer to affordable healthcare is not more government intrusion into the industry— but instead, the answer is a free market solution. I’ve never know government to innovative, but the marketplace is always looking for a better product and more efficiencies. We need to repeal Obamacare in its entirety and to work on allowing healthcare insurance to be purchased across state lines. The free market system will always do a better job of innovation and exceptional customer service than any government program. Obamacare has driven our medical care costs and deductibles through the roof, and I don’t know anyone who is happier with their healthcare today than before that law was enacted. We should do all we can to allow for free market solutions: empowering the patient to make their healthcare decisions and the provider to do the best job at the best price without the middleman’s cost increases that we are now experiencing.
NATIONAL SECURITY
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Our founding fathers had experienced unfettered laws, taxation and bullying from the king, his ruling class, and his army. They wanted better for our new Republic. They understood that power can corrupt, and that a government that is answerable to the voters would be a better governing body. The checks and balances were, and are, brilliant. They understood that only a population that self-ruled through restraint and Christian principles would rule fairly and honestly.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My belief system is simple: As a Christian I believe that God is the source of all truth, wisdom, peace and life. I accepted Christ as my savior at the age of 9, and was raised to honor integrity and Biblical values. I have been an active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church since 1985, where we direct an Adult Bible Study class. I have a servant’s heart—I want to make a difference for good in the arena in which I live. When it comes to good government, I believe that the innocent should be protected from those that would do them harm. I know that our Constitutional Rights come from God and not Government, and will do all in my power to protect the liberty He gave us.

As a former member of the State Republican Executive Committee, my public stance on Conservative issues is a matter of record. I have worked for our principles, our priorities and our platform over many years. I served on the Republican State Platform Committee in 2010. I have gone to Austin to lobby (as a volunteer) the legislature on many Conservative issues—worked alongside of Conservative legislators in support of good bills and working against bad ones. I have the endorsements of many of our most Conservative House members because they know where I stand on the issues and know that I will be there in the fight beside them. I am guided by my core belief in limited government, dedicated to fiscal responsibility and an unshakeable commitment to the unborn. I have worked on pro-life issues, am a crisis pregnancy centers donor (several) and have stood for life on both the Life Chain and 40 days for life. We are consistent donors to other conservative organizations.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have a background in Education. This helps me to understand that one size does not fit all when it comes to kids. As a community volunteer, I understand that charities do a much better job serving the needy than government, and uses those resources in a more effective and discerning way. As a volunteer who has worked tirelessly to promote good, conservative legislation, I hold dear the values of conservative government and legislative restraint. As a member of the Texas Juvenile Justice Board, I understand the need to both protect the innocent, provide protection from those that would do us harm, and also look for ways to encourage good behavior and fresh starts for those that are truly reformed.

I am a mother and a grandmother, and I care deeply about leaving Texas a better place for our next generations. This can only happen through careful and constrained spending, conservative legislation, protecting the innocent, and guarding the ballot box from those that would highjack our election process.
