Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I oppose abortion. I know that life begins at conception and seek to see that reflected in our Constitution. In all cases both lives matter.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
While religious freedom existed in America, our Founders had great consensus in recognizing that Genesis accurately and authoritatively described man's origin and nature. Federalist 55 alludes to it: "As there is a degree of depravity in mankind which requires a certain degree of circumspection and distrust, so there are other qualities in human nature which justify a certain portion of esteem and confidence." For this reason, our Constitution establishes a Republic - if we can keep it.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
As Job 19:25 says, "I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will stand upon the earth." I committed to following Christ to the best of my ability at 3:34 am on 19 August 1987. To succinctly describe my doctrine, Ephesians 2:1-10. How do I translate that into my values? I strive to live a fully integrated life. My first ministry focus is my family. Before the fall, God gave Adam work to do. I strive to honor God in my work, in how I treat others, in shaping our cultures, and in being excellent at the work itself. I sometimes fail, but I always strive. I grow with others via regular church and small groups. In public policy, the political left has maintained a progressive attack on faith that is well contrasted by the differences between the persuasive language of Uncle Tom's Cabin and the debates of today. We need leaders who can protect religious liberty for all by ensuring that government is limited to its Constitutionally enumerated powers.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?
Conservative
Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.
#3 - While I do not favor building a physical wall, securing our borders is a top national security issue. We already have a legal immigration processes - legal paths to citizenship and legal paths for guests (tourists, students and workers). We should improve them for talented people whose skills are in demand, and not ahead of those who have already shown contempt for our laws and our culture. I favor an end to birthright citizenship, defunding sanctuary cities and limiting all legal transactions (banking, education, etc.) to those who are here legally. #9 - I favor reasonable due diligence, but Keystone more than passes and energy is already heavily regulated. #13 - Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government...". #27 - I am a conservative Republican. I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Some very conservative people fall outside those criteria.
