QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, North Carolina should repeal its law allowing abortion up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

No Answer

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

US law defines at present. As a State Representative I do not get to vote to overturn the current decision of the US Supreme Court.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Freedom to live and choose your practice of faith, not controlled by fluctuating opinion of the Government.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

No Answer

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I currently Chair House Health Appropriations and Health Policy . My bill HB655 is an opportunity for the working poor to purchase health care for their families. There is no cost to NC . The beneficiary has to pay a premium , stay employed and pay a co-pay. My support of the Small Business Act that is now Session Law /allows independent contractors such as realtors to buy insurance through their cohort.. I am working with local medical schools to bring access to health care to rural NC by soliciting students from the communities and helping to offset tuition cost. I have sponsored Telehealth bills for easier access and better licensing regulations for advanced practice nurses. As a Registered Nurse I have spent my career working to improve healthcare for vulnerable populations in public health, home care/ health, HIV/AIDS, pediatrics/aging/disabilities and served as a victim advocate

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

No Answer

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

State, sheriff and local law enforcement agencies should be required to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) Program to enhance the safety and security of their communities to identify and detain aliens.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Federal law currently defines the immigration policy. As a NC Legislator I do not get to vote on Federal Legislation. My answer to question #2 means we have to have control over who enters our borders, it is called passports used by countries all over the world.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

No Answer

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No Answer

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I support the second Amendment. I work closely with all areas of law enforcement. I sponsored the Raise the Age bill to help troubled youth to have a second chance.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

•Continue to work on bills in process to make healthcare more accessible and affordable. •Continue to work for State employees/ teachers/classified staff/ Highway Patrol and retirees because NC is a right to work State and our employees are the framework of the state operations for public services. •Continue work for Safer Schools/Disaster Relief/Nutrient Banking Law/ Neuse River Basin/ Business support to remain #1 Business Friendly State

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I have been graded by the NC Free Enterprise, by Civitas, and Others as conservative.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am a Registered Nurse who has served vulnerable populations. I am currently the only conservative nurse in the NC House. I have been a public School Board Member for 12 years prior to my position in the House. I have served on local government boards and I have been involved with building and supporting the business community in my District. I am a well rounded candidate and very involved in my community for a lifetime.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

•All Constituents get my undivided attention and service irregardless of their political status. •Served my District with funds/policies for roads, parks, disaster relief, business foundations, community college and public education/disaster relief. questions ,#5,6, 12 & 20,23 cannot be effectively answered as requested above: # 5-livable income already has government input due to minimum wage. NC raised the wage for State employees to a livable wage by majority vote. #6, working poor should be able to purchase insurance that they can afford with premiums and co-pays, aging and disabled already get Gov’t funded Medicaid and Medicare #12 secondary public school education is a good foundation of the US #20 hypothetical #23 my Safer School bills are models/ teachers should not be forced to carry

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Disagree

Parents should have the right to know what schools are teaching their children about sex and LGBT issues and should have the right to opt their children out of any instruction to which they object.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian and have lived under that grace since I was nine years old. My mission because of the love and forgiveness that I have been given from God is to serve vulnerable populations which I have done since becoming a registered nurse.
