QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
The school should assist the expectant mother and father to address the pregnancy with their parents and offer connections to Pregnancy Resource centers. If a student claims that this pregnancy is the result of sexual abuse, parents and the police should be notified immediately. The school should offer to help with tutoring services and flexible scheduling to help the expectant mom to complete her studies.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
The Ten Commandments should not be displayed in public school buildings or court houses.
Strongly Disagree
We need a return to law and order and moral absolutes in our communities.
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Strongly Agree
I agree with students' freedom of speech, but also need to recognize that there are times and places for these discussions and we must request that every member of the classroom, including teachers, not disrupt the learning of others and distract from the topics at hand. In other words, geometry class is probably not the time/place for political, religious or lifestyle debates/discussions.
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
No one should be forced to teach things that violate their moral and/or religious beliefs. At the same time, parents and students should not be forced to read/write/study/listen to curriculum that violates their moral and/or religious beliefs. Our classrooms should focus on academic integrity and preparing our young people for successful careers.
NATIONAL SECURITY
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
I believe that the United States should focus first on our internal struggles and the needs of our citizens. I firmly believe that Israel has a right to be their own sovereign nation and it is important for us to seek healthy relationships with any countries who are seeking the welfare of their countrymen, and promoting the free market system, personal responsibility, healthy competition and religious liberty.
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
Cowards do not seek confrontation. Our enemies will not provoke us if we are strong and can retaliate. We must invest in our military and remove the radical indoctrination that is weakening it.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
The role of government is not to provide income for US citizens. It is to protect our God-given rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness via our careers and lifestyles. Minimum wage jobs were intended to be entry level positions to teach young adults a work ethic, responsibility, cooperation, financial stewardship and career opportunities. 'Livable" income is a relative term that varies significantly across the country and across generations.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I agree that our taxes should go to fund Prek-12th grade, but disagree that taxpayers should pay for college. I would like the FAFSA to be eradicated and return college aid/scholarships/grants to the states and to individual financial institutions. When we put the feds in charge of funding college and university tuition and expenses, the cost quadrupled and the interest rates skyrocketed, fleecing the public, adding undue pressure on families and inflating the federal govt.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
The US Constitution does not grant this job to our federal government. We must evaluate our state educational budget and remove those expenditures which are not directly contributing to our students academically, morally, and vocationally. We must streamline spending and end programs which are contributing to divisiveness, entitlement and false victimhood among our young people and provide the sound, basic, moral education laid out in our state constitution.
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
Our state should be providing multiple options for student success and parents should have complete authority over the education of their children. We should welcome healthy competition and have a variety of learning options for our young people in every school district.
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
OPT-IN. CSE goes AGAINST our state standards. Replace it with basic sex ed.
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
The students in our schools are mostly (98%) MINORS and any and all medical issues should be referred to the parents and outside physicians, clinicians and counselors. We must return our focus to ACADEMICS and CAREER TRAINING in our classrooms and stop pushing social, political, and sexual agendas.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Physical Fitness, Art and Music, Civics, American History, Personal Finances, Foreign Language, Information Technology and Vocational Learning
2ND AMENDMENT
Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.
Agree
As Superintendent, I would place school safety at the top of my priorities. Teachers should NOT be RESPONSIBLE for safety within our schools, but should have their 2A right in the workplace. We should have Student Resource Officers, weapons detection systems and video surveillance throughout every school. Criminals are cowards and usually avoid confrontation. If people outside of the schools know that there are armed officers and staff in the school, they will not target our students.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?
Never. No citizen should be forced to participate in a medical procedure or take a medication to attend school or participate in any part of society. Vaccinations are intended to protect the person who receives it, not the people around them . If someone want to risk getting a disease, that is their right. If a vaccine is effective, it should protect the recipient from having contact with the disease. If it doesn't protect them from those who are sick, what was the point of the vaccine?

VALUES
Children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming including drag shows, explicit materials in schools and libraries, and other public venues.
Strongly Agree
I will continue to work with the NC Legislature to pass laws with clear, severe penalties for any adult who interacts with a child in a sexual manner. We should do everything in our power to protect the innocence of our children and keep them from physical, emotional, and mental harm.
Marriage between one man and one woman and the families they form are the foundation of civilization and are fundamental to the well-being and prosperity of society.
Strongly Agree
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Strongly Agree
As Superintendent of Public Instruction, I will work to remove telemedicine and mental health clinics from our K-12 schools and require that parents are the first ones notified when a child is having an issue. No adult in the school should ever be alone with someone else's child. Including in the nurses station, the principal's office or with a coach or counselor. We must protect our staff and our students and refer our students and their families out for medical services.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am an Evangelical Christian who believes that God created the heavens and the earth and everything on the earth and every living thing and person. I believe that the Bible is Holy, inspired and inerrant and that every person is created in the image of God. I believe that Jesus is God and came to earth to save us from the consequences of our sin. I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and is the example of Christ's relationship to the church. I believe that the Bible is the blueprint for families and government and that children are to be protected. I believe that God gave us strong minds and bodies and intends for us to learn personal responsibility, hard work and stewardship of ourselves and our surroundings.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
The NC Constitution states that only NC Citizens who are over the age of 18 may vote. If we do not have any way to prove someone's age or citizenship status, how can we be sure we are upholding our laws?
EQUALITY
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Strongly Disagree
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
