RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
My view is that Organizations that provide abortion services should not receive any Government funding for performing abortions, for funds given to those Organizations are Taxpayer's money, and for those who are Pro-Life, do not want their tax dollars going to perform abortions. I support those that are Pro-Choice, but we need to respect the position of those that have different views concerning abortions. Funding should be provided to Organizations that perform abortions, for other services.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Agree
After working for 14 years in a Hospice and witnessing the suffering of terminally ill Patients, it would seem reasonable to have this option, should a Patient feel that this may be the best decision for them, after consulting with their Family and Medical Staff.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
My position has always been that there needs to be a progressive approach to deal with the abortion issue, starting with more education to prevent unwanted pregnancies, parental right to stop any abortion for a minor daughter, a 72-hour waiting period for an abortion to be performed with a mandatory briefing and guidance during this time period, in order to explain the risk and possible consequences to the Person's emotional state that may result from the decision to have an abortion. My sincere hope is that in the future, with technology and scientific advancements, along with education, that the life of the unborn will be able to have a life, and abortion will only be performed when it is necessary to save the life of the Mother.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Disagree
America is the land of opportunity, and redistribution of wealth is a very bad idea. The gap between the wealthy and the working class has been created by our own Government, by taxing the hard-working class, and allowing the wealthy and big businesses tax shelters that the working class does not get to enjoy. What is needed is to cut all taxes for the working class, and eliminating taxing Social Security and Unemployment Benefits, as well as capping other cost that the working class pay.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Agree
Government should cut spending, however, not on Programs that are beneficial for the hard-working men and woman of our Nation, for there is far too much wasteful spending, and I will call for an accounting of all Government spending, as well as introduce a Bill to establish a Balance Budget, with oversight and accountability in the spending of taxpayers' dollars. We cannot keep piling on to our Nation debt, to burden future generations to deal with our out-of-control spending.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The Tax Code needs to be simplified, eliminating hundreds of pages of Instructions, and numerous Forms, with a simple tax structure, for I will introduce in Congress a Tax Code, that will reduce Taxes on all income made by the hard-working men and women. For example, a single person making $25,000 or less a year will not have to pay any federal taxes. A couple making $50,000 or less a year will not have to pay any federal taxes either. A single person making $100,000 or less will only pay 0.025% in federal taxes, and a couple making $100,000 or less will only pay 0.05% in federal taxes. This adjustment in taxes will close the gap between the wealthy and the hard-working Americans. Also, all Corporations and large Business will have to pay 1.0% federal tax on all gross profits, so that everyone contributes to the tax burden. Small Business taxes will be cut by 25%, as well as they will get a $5,000 credit for each new Employee that they hire and retain in their employment for at least six months.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I am committed to protect Religious Freedom, for our great Nation was created on the bases of freedoms, especially Religious Liberty, and I will always defend the right of each individual to practice their Religious beliefs.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
This is not a case of prohibiting a person or business from their moral or religious beliefs, for when a person or business is providing a public service, it would be a form of discrimination, for a person or a business to exclude a group of people from receiving a service or a product, because they do not meet their moral standards or religious beliefs. It would be like having a restaurant, and not allowing people to dine in the restaurant who did not believe in Jesus!
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
Church and State must always remain separate, in order to protect Religious Freedoms, and I will always support that position as a member of Congress.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
When there is a National Emergency, as in the case of COVID-19, or when the health of individuals can be infected by others that may become sick, or to prevent serious illness or death, it would seem reasonable to mandate vaccinations. I am not a big supporter of mandates, and I would hope that people would get vaccinated on their own for the common good.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Response B is more in-line with my healthcare positions, for healthcare should be available to everyone, by means of Government assistance and the private sector. I will introduce the "Healthcare For America Act," with premiums and deductibles based on income, along with services provided on a sliding scale. There will and should not ever be any mandates, as well as all pre-existing conditions will be covered.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
Response B is the closest to my views on National Security and Foreign Policy, for we as a Nation have had to many failures in helping other Countries achieve the freedoms that we all enjoy here in America. We now stand idle as a Nation, as the Leader of the free world, and only watch as Russia destroys Ukraine, and murders its People. Sanctions have proven over and over again that they have such little effect on corrupt Governments but tend to hurt the people that are living under these corrupt Governments. The United States must be more pro-active in helping other Nations, in partnership with the UN and NATO members.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Neutral
Boycott or other actions will not bring a peaceful solution to the Israel and Palestinian crisis that has been going on for decades. Withdrawal, and removal of barriers in the West Bank, will only occur if both sides can come together for the good of their people, and begin to live in peace, and let go of the hatred that has built over generations.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
China is a World threat and Power, and the United States owes Billions of dollars to China, which is a major concern, and can be an economic threat to the United States. They are a Superpower, and well advanced in cyber technology, and could be the next World threat in the very near future.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
We are a great Nation, but are not very good at Nation building, and establishing democracies for developing Nations. Our Military is the greatest in the World, but our Leadership in eradicating terrorism has fallen short, especially after our 20 years in Afghanistan, and our failure there. My plan would be establishing an International Global Partnership with the UN and NATO partners to use our Military and Economic powers to eradicate Islamic Terrorism.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Agree
Our Southern Border must and should be secure at all times, and I will push for more Border Patrol Agents, along with Processing Centers along the Border at main entry points, all in Mexico, as part of my "Anna Rose Immigration Reform Act" (ARIRA). These Processing Centers will be clean, friendly, and safe places for those seeking to enter the United States, with Judges, Lawyers, and Medical Staff to provide care, as well as to speed up the process for entry into the United States.
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
We are a Nation of Laws, and as such we cannot just chose which Laws we will obey, and which ones we will thumb are noses at. With my Plan, the "Anna Rose Immigration Reform Act", there will not be any need for Sanctuary Cities, or Private or Public entities, for all undocumented individuals will be treated fairly within the United States, as well as those that are seeking to enter our Nation. Compliance with current immigration laws must be enforced to receive any State of Federal funds.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
America welcomes all who seek the freedoms of our great Nation. However, those that seek to come to America must do it legally, rather than crossing into America illegally. I will be introducing an Immigration Reform Plan that will end illegal immigration, called the "Anna Rose Immigration Reform Act (ARIRA)." Under ARIRA undocumented individuals now here in America will become Provisional Citizens, after passing a background check, and within five years will become eligible to become a United States Citizen. People escaping dangerous situations or death threats, are welcome to come to America, as well as those seeking a better life, however, they have to come legally within the scope of the Immigration Laws of our Nation.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
We are all different in some way, and whether it is the color of our skin, or where we come from, or our sexual orientation, or the gender we may identity as, should always be protected, for discrimination in any form cannot and should not be tolerated in Nation as diverse as ours.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Racism is a word to often used to explain why things are the way they are when we cannot find an explanation to justify our conclusion. We are all racist in some way, on how we look at events in our lives, and the Critical Race Theory (CRT) gives groups of People a way to explain way they feel left out or not valued as a person. Institutions are not racist in any way, it is only the People that run them that may be racist, no matter what the color of their skin or sexual orientation may be.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a man of faith, and I walk with the Lord, for the Lord is within me. I believe in fairness, justice, and reaching out to those that are less fortunate than myself. We live at a time when many of us have lost faith and hope in our Government, as well as those around us, for the COVID-19 Pandemic has effected all of us in so many ways. Now is the time for us to come together for change in our Nations' Capital, and that is why I am running for Congress, for "Together We Can Build New Bridges of Common Understanding."
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I find this to be a very odd statement. We are asked all the time for a photo ID to buy products or services, or when using a credit card, or to cash a check at a Bank. Almost on a daily basis we are asked to show ID. Everyone needs an ID to drive a car, or board a plane, so whether you are poor or rich or somewhere in between you can afford to get ID. Showing an ID to Vote is not in any way discriminating against a person from Voting. Voting is important, a right, and must be protected.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
The only Laws for Voting should be' 1. That you are a United States Citizen; 2. That you are at least 18 years old; 3. That you are Registered to Vote; 4. That you have ID to show that you are the Person listed as Registered to Vote; 5. Mail-in Voting by Request only; 6. Early Voting for ten days prior to Election Day; and 7. All mail-in Ballots must be Postmarked no later than the day of the Election. All other Voting Laws or Restrictions to Voting should be eliminated.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Reparations are a very bad idea, on any basis. It is a slippery slope, for Black People endured Slavery, Japanese were put into internment camps, and let us not forget the Native American Indians that we pushed off their lands, and the list could go on for people that have suffered during our short History. So, who gets to decide which groups gets Reparations or who has been harmed the most? We should owe-up to our Country's mistakes and missteps and commit ourselves to do much better.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism has been a part of our Nation, since the beginning of our historical journey, and we have grown beyond what are Founding Fathers could have even imagined during their time. We are not a perfect Union, and in spite of the Racism of the past, as well as the Racism that exist today, are domestic security is sound, for the principles of our Constitution far out weights the Racism that still affects all of us in some way. Will we ever be free of Racism? I would hope so, but it will be a long hard journey to that end, but we are a Nation of one when the call to unite is sounded, which we all have witnessed from time to time during our lifetime, and that is what keeps Racism of any form from destroying are Nation from within.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
I am Neutral on this issue, for we need oil and natural gas to run our Economy, and until we have alternative energies, drilling and fracking seem to be our only way to keep our cars, factories, and businesses running, otherwise we are going to be sitting in the dark, and everything will come to a grinding halt without these resources. If we can travel to Mars without a drop of oil or natural gas, then I believe and support that we can develop alternative energies to fuel our Economy.
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
Response A comes closest to my views on environmental issues, for I am committed to work for a better environment to leave for future generations yet unborn. America cannot save the planet alone, for we need to get the rest of the World on board, otherwise fixing our environment will not happen.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
Being a Moderate Democrat is what is needed to work effectively with conservative views in the other Party, as well as working with the more Liberal part of my Party.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
An interview with the La Canada Flintridge Newspaper.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
Our Leaders at all levels of Government have failed us. That is why I am running for Congress, to represent the People of my District, and to introduce Police Reform, Tackle Racism, Fix the Immigration System, end Homelessness, give opportunities to the Poor, help Small Businesses recover, reduce Taxes for Hard-Working Americans, as well as eliminating Taxing Social Security and Unemployment Benefits. The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected all of us, and I do understand the hardships so many Americans have had to endure, and I am ready to work with them to resolve many of their concerns. Now is the time to join my "Coalition for Change in Congress." Are you ready to make a difference in our Community? I am a Veteran and a man of faith, and I know that you are, so get involved and join me on this journey. We have lost our sense of Community during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and now is the time for us to come together and work on the issues that affect all of us, as one Community. There are many challenges facing us, and as a Community we can conquer them together. Our Seniors are being overburdened with Medicare Cost, and I will work to reduce the Cost of Part B to 5% of benefits received and capped at $100.00 per month. Property Taxes and the cost of Rent are hurting all Americans, causing a Housing Crisis, that I will work with Local Governments to address. Crime affects all of us, and I will hold accountable Police Chiefs and their Officers, to perform their duties, as they have sworn to "Protect and Serve," for Citizens in our Communities deserve better services to prevent crime. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but we need you to stand-up and have the courage to Vote for Change, for our Nation deserves better, and needs a Representative in Congress like me, a moderate Democrat that will stand with the hard-working men and women that make our Country great, for "Together We Can Build New Bridges of Common Understanding."
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Disagree
Not at all, for many Police Department Policies are discriminatory or racist in nature, in how those policies are applied. The Police are not above the Law and should always be held accountable for their actions that may appear to be excessive.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
Defunding the Police in any form, or redirecting funds for other uses, such as Mental Health Programs, does not serve our communities in a positive way. We do need Police reform, as well as the way the Police perform their duties and conduct themselves, for that is an issue that I will be addressing in Congress. I am going to work to make sure that Mental Health and Community based Programs get the special funding that they need, for good Mental Health Programs save lives.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We have more Gun Laws on the books, as well as numerous restrictions, however, there is still gun violence every day in our Nation. Gun laws, restrictions, and for that matter Guns themselves do not prevent or kill People. It is People that find a way around the laws and restrictions, that cause injuries or death by a gun. Law abiding Citizens do not go out and shoot a bunch of people, because they are angry or feel left out in some way. Mental Health issues is what causes most gun violence to continue in our Nation, for we only speak of Mental Health, when there is a shooting. We have background checks, and prohibit convicted criminals from obtaining a gun, but criminals have more guns than the average gun owner. What is the solution to protect Public Safety? It certainly is not more Laws or Restrictions, for they have been a failure in protecting the Public. The root cause of gun violence comes from family issues, environmental factors, as well as the state of mind of an individual owning a gun, along with influence of gangs, poverty, and use of drugs.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
Not at all, for then we should be able to sue car manufactures for cars kill thousands of people every year, as well as knife manufactures, for many people are stabbed to death. Guns do not kill People on their own, it is the Person holding the gun that kills or injures another Person. We live in a society where we want to blame someone for bad things that has happen to us, even though they had nothing to do with the incident.
