QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion has been legal in Washington State since a 1970 referendum. I-120 was approved in 1991 by the people. Recently, Governor Inslee signed HB 1851 concerning abortion lawsuits. This is a short history of current Washington law that will not change unless the people support a change in the law. I support fixing our adoption system, foster care system, offering a hand up for single moms, support keeping fathers in homes, and or helping fathers who would keep the baby if the mother doesn't want the child. These options save lives. I am a survivor of abortion. I am grateful for the gift of life. Offering healthy options that protect a mother and child from harm physically, psychologically, and spiritually is the best goal. Many individuals are communicating that they support family planning and agree that one size doesn't fit all. Some have communicated that they support abstinence, birth control, morning after pills or early abortion, however, they are opposed to partial birth, late term, or infanticide if a baby is born alive. On the other side of the issue, some who don't support abortion have communicated an understanding the mother and the baby may die if an abortion for medical reasons were prevented. That is a choice between the family and their doctor to make. Current law, changing information, better options for choices, funding to support different choices, health concerns, and responsibilities, are all valid issues to consider when deciding under what circumstances an abortion should be allowed. Feeling the flutter of new life is a miracle that left me with no doubt that life begins at conception. I support life over death and helping those who chose options.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

This is another tough question. If a medical necessity exists, that is different than abortion for convenience. I don't support abortion being used as the go to form of birth control instead of other healthier family planning choices. Abortion is not risk free and neither is pregnancy. I believe this question should be put to the voters to decide how they want their tax dollars spent regarding this issue.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Disagree

Innocent life is precious even if it isn't perfect. I voted no on the bill because suicide shouldn't be easy. Suicide is not against the law in Washington State and some evil people have used it to commit murder for profit. Euthanasia could be used in the same way. I have worked through the death process with multiple loved ones. We couldn't save them and that was painful. Medication helped the natural death process with dignity while they were loved.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

A thriving free market provides better options in countless situations while respecting moral and religious beliefs.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

It wasn't right to close churches for any reason while allowing pot shops, gentleman's clubs, and other businesses to remain open during COVID-19. Double standards were inarguable and wrong. The government is supposed to stay out of the churches, not the churches stay out of the government.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Better communication between stakeholders to assess, react to, and or prevent situations.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

None of the above.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Never. If we don't force all children to eat peanuts due to an allergy that can kill, we shouldn't do it with any substance. Informed consent exists to help the doctor and patient make an individual medical choice or need. This is true with any new medication or therapy that hasn't been fully tested to understand the good and bad components of the product. Where there is risk, there must be informed consent and help for adverse reactions.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

I have heard from many that want property tax relief, possibly up to a two hundred-thousand-dollar limit. Soaring inflation is on everyone's mind. We should revisit sales tax relief options to help struggling families now.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We need to audit government spending and bloat to identify waste. Government agencies should be required to be transparent with grant and funding information and to show proof of how the money is spent and with whom. This would promote accountability to use tax dollars in transparent and wise ways. It may also result in excess taxes being refunded to taxpayers that are struggling to make ends meet.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Washington State must provide a basic education to all children as per the McCleary decision for K-12 students. Taxpayers are already spending in excess of $17,000.00 dollars a year per student. It is immoral to make individuals who have paid their loans back, or didn't go to college, pay the debt of the wealthy. A better option is to stop guaranteeing the loans and stop predatory lending. That would bring costs down and help students seek degrees in job fields that offer good paying jobs.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Secure our boarders and support fixing legal immigration.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Legal immigration is reasonable for any country's sovereignty. After we take care of our veterans, elderly, disabled, foster kids, and supporting adoption of American children, then we may accept others with skills beneficial to America who will respect our laws and love our country.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

We must consider reasonable options to promote academic excellence with an eye on funding the child's needs. I support public education that respects parents' rights and involvement in their child's education.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

A path already exists for justice concerning criminal or civil relief that qualified immunity does not protect. We as a society are already seeing the negative effects of good people walking away from careers in law enforcement. If we expect police officers to do this dangerous job when we call 911, we must have a balance in accountability for bad choices and protection for officers whose life is on the line. We can have both.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Defunding the police does not create safe neighborhoods. It emboldens and rewards criminals. We are living the results of bad policy decisions and failed legislation every day. Police officers need consistent training and crime prevention tools to engage in positive proactive policing. Mental health and community programs are additional public safety concerns and needs that require separate funding to use separately or in conjunction with law enforcement. We need all three.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I support the second amendment and defend the oaths that I took as a veteran and elected official. Thousands of you have communicated in multiple forms where you stand on this issue. Republican, Democrat, Independent, or other all care about this issue. All want to be safe from criminal harm or unintentional accidents. That is reasonable and fair. There are good options to protect law abiding citizens' rights to self-protection and to respect safety precautions and also due process in our justice system. Background checks, social media liability requirements, safe storage requirements, and training requirements are all reasonable things to consider. The first focus should be to increase the penalties for the evil, sick, and or hateful individuals, and mean it.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue local government agencies and individuals that refuse to hold the criminals committing the crimes accountable. That might actually lead to dangerous individuals being managed as they should be. It is wrong to focus on one inanimate object used to kill unless we are willing to do the same for every object used to create victims or crime.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

There should be three branches of government - one to make laws, another to execute laws, and a third to interpret the laws. That the Government is a government of laws, not of men. No one is above the law.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

It isn't a one size fits all. It depends on the issue. I disagree with labels that divide good people instead of focusing on solutions together.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Did not answer

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

I have no record or conviction for sexual misconduct.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I have kept the promise that I made to the voters in the 6th District. Honoring that promise has come at a personal cost for standing up against dangerous or deadly legislation that is making your family, business/job, and community less safe. Intimidation and bullying tactics are the go-to weapon for some and yet I persist. I'm grateful for the outpouring of support from good people that see right through the attempts. Safe and clean neighborhoods are the why for the long hours I spend working on the issues you let me know you care about. Crime victims and their families are not being treated fairly in Washington State. That has to change. It won't change though without the courage to fight even when it hurts to stand up for balance. In striving for balance, I work to help repentant individuals who keep their end of the bargain to become productive members of our community. Most people agree with that goal. In addition, I am also tenacious about accountability and management of violent or hateful criminals who enjoy harming or killing others and persistent offenders. You deserve that commitment. I successfully helped stop SB 5036, ending life without parole. It had no parameters for who would be released. Another recent success was fighting to stop an unrepentant mass murderer from being released with an ankle bracelet for 90 days as the least restrictive alternative supervision choice. That was a heavy lift. We won. I am an active State Rep engaged in my district and I work best when you communicate with me to bring your voice to Olympia. I have kept my promise to fight to keep your money in your wallet so that you can invest back into our local communities. Education issues are paramount to parents who are asking to be respected and included in their child's education. A safe school learning environment and workplace for everyone is vital for kids to learn and for our communities to thrive. I hear you. I'm engaged in working with families and law enforcement to acknowledge the things that parents support, as well as to find solutions for the issues that keep you up at night with worry. I have legislative solutions ready to go that were crafted with 6th District constituent input and feedback. We are emerging from a sustained and very difficult time in our history. Many good people want a path to regain health and prosperity now and in the future. Real solutions exist to provide hope and healing in the 6th District and beyond. Thank you for your support. We can do this together.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

We would have a lot less laws on the books if the tenants of the timeless ten commandments were respected.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Discrimination laws should serve and protect everyone equally.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Agree

I support traditional marriage; however, I also support civil unions for those with non-traditional families.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Racism in every form is wrong and divisive.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Jesus Christ is my lord and savior.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Identification is required in every other situation needed to prove identity. Voting is just as important.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

1. Identification as a requirement. 2. Clean up the voting roles and provide documentation when the work was done and by whom. Require death notification to the Secretary of State upon death, and proof they were removed. 3. Attach numbers to ballots to keep track of ballots produced, used, and returned, or destroyed. 4. Require auditors to maintain a secure camera system inside and outside of elections offices. 5. Prosecute voter fraud harshly.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is wrong no matter the source. It should be dealt with at the source not projected onto innocent individuals. Domestic security protects all of us and should be the focus for that reason.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

We can't change the past, however, good people died to end slavery. If any reparations were to be paid, it should be to end human trafficking. These are the people that need rescue and help now.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

Times and conditions change. What doesn't change is the need to find balance between living beings and being a good steward of the earth.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

We must be self-reliant now and in the future,
