OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is the taking of a human life and should be prohibited.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

The state constitution should limit the growth of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.

Strongly Agree

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Strongly Agree

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Limited government, lower taxes and limited, predictable regulation are the best way to create an environment that encourages job creation and investment in local communities. Creating opportunities for more and better jobs in the free market is the best way to bring down unemployment.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The role of government is to "stay in its lane" and focus on providing infrastructure, justice, security/safety and education. These limited government building blocks along with lower taxes and limited, predictable regulation are the best way to create an environment that encourages job creation and investment in local communities. Creating opportunities for more and better jobs in the free market is the best way to boost the economy. Government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Congress should repeal Obamacare and let the free market compete to provide the best product at the lowest cost.

NATIONAL SECURITY

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.

Strongly Disagree

I support sanctuary cities.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

EDUCATION

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.

Strongly Disagree

People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."

Strongly Disagree

Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.

Strongly Agree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Our founders' belief in the fallen nature of man caused them to carefully define, separate and limit the powers of government in our Constitution.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I accepted Christ and was baptized as an 8-year old girl. I believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, and the habit of daily interaction with scripture coupled with prayer informs and directs my relationships and daily decisions. I embrace the teachings of Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He taught us that the two greatest commandments are first to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and second to love our neighbor as ourselves, and I seek to treat others with the dignity due those who are made in the image of God. I believe every human life is sacred and has meaning and purpose, regardless of the "quality" that life may be ascribed by others.

ABOUT YOU

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2010 General Election, 2010 Republican Primary, 2012 General Election, 2012 Republican Primary, 2014 General Election, 2014 Republican Primary, 2016 General Election, 2016 Republican Primary

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My views are detailed on my campaign website, www.AngelaPaxton.com. I have received the endorsement of the following groups and individuals: Kelly Shackelford, President and CEO of First Liberty Institute Texas Values Action PAC and Jonathan Saenz, President Texas Homeschool Coalition Concerned Women for America LAC Penny Nance, National CEO of CWA Ann Hettinger, CWA Texas State Director Dana Hodges, CWA Texas former State Director Kerby Anderson, Host of Point of View National Radio Talk Show Penna Dexter, Co-Host of Point of View National Radio Talk Show Collin County Conservative Republicans Grassroots McKinney Lone Star Liberty Collin County Deputies Association State Senators Bryan Hughes, Donna Campbell and Larry Taylor State Reps. Jeff Leach, Matt Shaheen, Scott Sanford Former State Rep. Scott Turner Plus hundreds of conservative grass roots citizens across Collin County who know my conservative philosophy

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am running for the Texas Senate, District 8. I am a Christian, a wife and a mother of 4 with 22 years of experience in public, private and home school education. The state of Texas spends 52% of its general revenue on education, most of that K-12, and yet there is currently only 1 member of the 31-member Texas Senate with any experience in the classroom. My experience as a parent and a teacher in private, public and home school education will bring a missing perspective to the Senate. My long-standing roots in this community help me understand what matters to the district and also position me to hit the ground running to represent my constituents' values and concerns in the Texas Senate.

E-mail address and phone number for voters to reach you:

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

My faith is not in politics, but my politics is grounded in my faith. I will seek to serve my fellow man in a way that honors God and my neighbor. I am an adopted child and hold an unwavering commitment to the sacredness of all human life. As an educator, I have always believed that being a good learner is essential to being a good teacher. I believe it is also true of being a good senator.

I support the death penalty.

Strongly Agree
