QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
My life started as an unexpected pregnancy. My birth mom chose life for me & I was blessed to be adopted by my incredible parents. I am now a mother of 4 & grandmother to 5. Everything I’ve accomplished & all the lives I've created are b/c of my birth mother’s brave decision. I believe everyone should have the same opportunity to live as I did. Life begins at conception. I believe in protecting every human life & that is why I carried the Human Life Protection Act to prohibit abortions in Texas.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Texas is consistently named the Best State to do Business. If we were to increase the minimum wage, this would actually cost the jobs of many Texans as businesses would have to restructure financially. I strive to protect jobs in Texas.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Under no circumstances can the government close a place of worship. Churches are the place people need most in times of crisis. I passed legislation to ensure this in Texas.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
I am most aligned with a hybrid of options C and D with a phase out or sunset provision on C to allow for development of alternate solutions. It would be untenable to enact an immediate disruption of current services, but these programs are also not ultimately financially sustainable.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
No government, school, or employer should be able to mandate a vaccination as a condition of employment.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Absolutely, the United States’ relationship with Israel is extremely important. Israel is a faithful ally to the United States. Our partnership has been built on mutual interests and shared democratic values, with Israelis and Americans united by our commitment to democracy, economic prosperity, and regional security. Scripture promises that God will bless those who bless Israel and commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
The current state of our border is unacceptable. As a direct result of the ‘open border’ policies, families (especially children) are being put in danger by the increase in human trafficking, drugs (including fentanyl), and dangerous criminals in our communities. We must secure our border.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
Every child should have the opportunity to reach their full potential by providing parents with the opportunity to choose the educational setting that best fits the unique needs and talents of their child.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. I accepted Christ as my lord and savior at the age of eight. I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God who lived a perfect life, died for my sins on the cross, and was resurrected from the dead. I believe that God loves everyone and desires for every person to come to saving faith and His son and spend eternity with Him in heaven.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I strongly disagree that racism is a threat to domestic security. I believe that individuals have inherent value because they’re made in the image of God and this is not dependent upon their gender or the color of their skin. Each person has gifts and talents to contribute and a responsibility to use those gifts and talents.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
The most reliable sources of energy are fossil fuels and natural gas.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
As the Founding Fathers established over 200 years ago in the Declaration of Independence, the purpose of government is to protect, preserve and defend the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
I oppose the "Defund the Police" effort and wholeheartedly support our police and public safety.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I believe in the Second Amendment as an important element of public safety, and I practice this American right myself.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
In Texas, we have established both the "school marshal" and "school guardian" programs to allow school employees who are not police officers to carry on campus as part of the school's security efforts. I support these programs.
