What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
The best way to bring about low unemployment is to foster business opoortunity, especially for small business; by avoiding suffocating regulation while maintaining high standards of safety; avoiding high sales taxes; and by an excellent educational system that produces people ready to succeed in the business world. Unemployment systems should continue to require the recipient to make contacts for work; the state should continue to provide informnation on openings in various sectors. In short, unemployment should be a brief stop on the way to productive, long-term employment. Public health rules to prevent the spread of COVID and variants should allow businesses to stay open in a safe manner.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
First, the economy cannot flourish unless people feel safe to move in public spaces, and businesses can operate without unacceptable losses from theft or vandalism. A peaceful and law-abiding community is a prerequisite to prosperity. Second, better educational systems - colleges, technical schools, work apprenticeships - produce better economies, especially in a world in which we are competing with countries who have made giant economic strides in recent years. Third, businesses should stay open to the maximum extent even in public health emergencies. We do not need to wreck the working economy to stop the spread of COVID. Fourth, we cannot have a great long-term economy and better income equality unless the government greatly reduces its federal deficits and the Fed stops pumping dolalrs into the economy that just create a bubble for banks, big corporations, and the rich. How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Systems that reward desired behavior are more effective than those that enable undesirable behavior. Those who do not smoke, drink alcohol excessively, and who maintain a healthy weight cost the healthcare system less (before older years). Their healthcare coverage should reflect that. Such lower costs will be an incentive for others to meet, while understanding there are many who have conditions that pose barriers to normal health. The lowest income persons in our society frequently miss benefits of which they can take advantage because they do not have important information. The institutions that the lowest income frequent, be they government agencies or the local convenience store or barber shops should have this information. Proprietors can be offered some modest benefit for taking a one-hour briefing. Third, incentivize and publicize mobile health teams, especially in low-income communities. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
The second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence begins "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness..." The founders limited aggregation of power because man's greed for unchecked power leads to the abrogation of these inalienable rights of the people including freedom of religion, speech, and assembly.

I believe that there is a God, a supreme spiritual power, who is all-loving and forgiving but leaves man to have the free will to seek Him. I subscribe to the great commandment to love God above all and love your neighbor as yourself. I believe in the gifts of faith, love, and charity, of which the greatest is love (Ephesians). I believe in the eight beatitudes as a course for living. I seek eternal life through faith and good works. I respect others' differing loving religious beliefs.

My published literature from three previous campaigns for state office, sent to tens of thousands of people during those campaigns, features my opposition to abortion and gerrymandering, and my commitment to reasonable taxes, educational choice, religious freedom, and public safety. My literature also features my belief in reasonable restrictions on firearms, the need for a social safety net, and a commitment for government outreach as needed to the most dispossessed in society.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have experience working and living at all levels of society. I became self-sufficient at an early age. I served as an Army Officer and spent 19 months in Vietnam. I have Bachelors and Masters Degrees. I have legislative experience as staff in the U.S. Congress. For 25 years I helped create and managed youth and municipal crime prevention programs and oversaw their implementation across the U.S. I have served my community through my church, residential governing body, and sports coach.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
My most important qualification is that I have lived and worked at every socioeconomic level so that I understand the needs and hopes of people in different strata of society. People with whom I have worked will tell you that I am the hardest-working person they have ever known. I know that being a good legislator requires building good relationships with fellow legislators and being properly prepared for all decisions, and making compromises where necessary to fulfill the principles I hold. As an Independent I have an advantage - I do not have a blind side that both of the major political parties have. Therefore I can interact on virtually every legislative issue. Government should not be encouraging the vices of mankind, that include the use of drugs and gambling. These are ultimately destructive to society. We never stop being a citizen of our country and the earth. By example and by action we are commanded -divinely- to be a steward of our republic and our environment
