OTHER INFORMATION

Candidate graded F by pro-marijuana group NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws).

This candidate voted against HR 8404. This vote indicates the candidate holds a position that supports traditional marriage.

Voted no on H.R.4350, a bill which would have expanded Selective Service registration to include women.

This candidate voted for H.R. 485, the Protecting Care for All Patients Act, which would prohibit federal health programs from using discriminatory measures known as Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs.)  A vote for the bill is a pro-life position that indicates opposition to reducing or eliminating care for people with various disabilities and chronic conditions.

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I worked hard in the Texas Legislature to prevent Texas Taxpayer Funds from going to ANY abortion provider. In Congress, I have supported many bills to prohibit abortions and restrict funding. I fully support the Supreme Court's decision to repeal Roe vs. Wade..rw

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

I strongly disagree with all abortions, including the use of chemical abortion drugs.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

With reluctance: in cases where Mom is in danger of dying as "attested to" by a medical "expert." (My fear is that now that SCOTUS has FINALLY done the right thing and overturned Roe V. Wade, this will become a frequently used excuse...rw

Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?

I support ALL efforts to limit abortions. I would support federal legislation to make abortions illegal from conception to birth.

ECONOMY

What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?

Lower taxes on corporations and families. Balance the federal budget and stop excessive overspending by the federal government that inevitably results in higher taxes and less take-home pay for families.

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Strongly Agree

When someone signs for student loans, it's no different than signing for a mortgage. It is not fair to shift the repayment burden onto taxpayers that have not incurred the debt.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

No. We don't need woke bureaucrats pushing agendas on private businesses.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

To those who say that there is a "Separation of Church & State" Doctrine: I say: Poppycock! I am the Church, I am the state. How you going to separate me? The Church should play a part in influencing good governance: the founders knew that. They intended for that to be the case. On the other hand: they expressly forbade the government from getting involved in the Church. They knew that King George III had proven what a disaster that was & didn't want it to be the case in this new government.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Private business should be allowed to make choices on how their business is run, including who they serve.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

None.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

Mine is actually C somewhat reluctantly. America in my opinion should have a safety net (not a hammock) for those unfortunate who need help. In my opinion: 4 classes of Americans should be given a hand: 1. Those who served our Nation in the armed forces & need help. 2&3. The elderly and young who have absolutely no one to take care of them, and 4. Those who are mentally or physically challenged without anyone to take care of them. And, the Church should play a role helping the less fortunate.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

B. As it applies to our Allies and an eminent threat to the U.S. It should however, be preceded by Congressional Approval and all avenues of diplomacy and financial and all other tools at our disposal...rw

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

We should do everything we can to bring all manufacturing on to American shores. The Pandemic showed us that our supply chains were extremely vulnerable to disruption and especially by our enemies. We should encourage businesses to stay out of China and encourage our partners around the world to do the same. And we should make it clear to China & other countries that China will not be allowed to take over Taiwan as well as other countries...rw

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel is GOD's chosen people and as the Scripture says: "The apple of His Eye." They are our best ally in the Middle East & pretty much around the world. They are also the stabilizing force in the Middle East. I support ALL efforts to support and protect Israel from terrorists and all of the evil regimes seeking to destroy Israel. Additionally, antisemitism has no place in this world.

What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?

This Administration's propensity to waver and capitulate and the woke policies of this Administration have caused the decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention. Period.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

As a Texas State Rep & Vice-Chair of the Border Committee my 2nd term, I understand what was at stake then and more so now. Without controlled borders and supervised immigration, the danger is that we will cease to be a Sovereign nation. When hundreds of thousands of children ages 5-18 are brought into our country, someone has to pay for their education- Americans can't afford to pay for that. Federal government should reimburse states for monies they have already spent to stop the madness.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those who do it legally under the laws & regulations set out by Congress. And in this day & age: a very rigorous background check should be done by the embassy located in the "country of origin." Furthermore: those wanting to come here should help bear some if not most of the cost associated with that background check. To sum it up: The Constitution is pretty straight forward: Congress shall make immigration laws...

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

An educational system without competition is failing our children and our society. We can do better by allowing parents to choose where they want to send their children to school and which values they want them to learn.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Parents don't need or want woke federal bureaucrats determining what curriculum and values their children should learn. Society doesn't know what is best for a child, their parents do. Control over schools should be local.

VALUES

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

GOD made them both... male & female. Marriages are to be between a man and a woman.

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

We must fight to protect these very vulnerable young children, especially in schools where these ideologies have taken hold in many places. It should be illegal for any child to be exposed to body mutilation or puberty blockers before they even become adults, especially when the parents are not involved.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Taxpayers should not pay one dime towards gender transition services.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

JESUS CHRIST is the Saviour of the World. GOD spoke through the holy prophets of old prophesying His Arrival. An eternity with GOD is promised through the Blood of the Lamb.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

As a Republican Precinct chair, an election clerk and an election judge in Brazoria County for many years I have a lot of experience with elections. Voting (and voter) integrity should be protected. Any reasonable person knows you have to have ID. And with the influx of a lot of illegal aliens... now it's even more critical...rw

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

This is a veiled attempt in my opinion to undermine the very bedrock foundation of our country. Were we or are we perfect? Of course not. But this government of the people, for the people and by the people has striven to improve, fix, get better, recognize our mistakes, move forward and to promise equal opportunity to all. To say that anything else was (or is - as some would have you believe) the aim is preposterous.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

We have two genders, male and female. Biologically men and women are not the same. For many reasons, they should not be made to compete with each other in sports or forcibly share other spaces. Anything otherwise is anti-female.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Oil and gas production in the United States is the cleanest and most efficient in the world. Much is refined in my district. Under Trump, we were energy independent. Other energy sources can be supporting actors.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

When I was in the Texas legislature, I was rated the No 1 conservative voting record along with (tied) my friend, the late Ken Legler our first term.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The role of government should be limited, we need less government not more. It should provide for the national defense, public safety and an individual safety net only when absolutely needed.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.

Strongly Disagree

Democrats should have learned their lesson when they used the so called "nuclear option" in the Senate which, at the time, required 60 votes to confirm a Supreme Court Justice. As a direct result of this change, we now have a conservative leaning court appointed by President Trump. Now they want to add seats in hopes of giving a Democrat President more seats on the Court to override the conservative voices. I strongly disagree with politicizing and "packing" the Supreme Court.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Those convicted of a crime using a gun or adjudicated as mentally incompetent or dangerous to society - having said that: extreme caution is needed in setting those standards as to what it means to be "incompetent" or a "danger to society".
