OTHER INFORMATION

Candidate Q&A. Community Impact. 16 Jan 2026.

Candidate graded F by pro-marijuana group NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws).

Representative sponsored H.R. 79, the WHO Withdrawal Act, which requires the President to immediately withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO) and prohibits using any federal funds to provide for U.S. participation in the WHO. The bill also repeals the 1948 act authorizing the U.S. to join the WHO.

This candidate voted against HR 8404. This vote indicates the candidate holds a position that supports traditional marriage.

Voted no on H.R.4350, a bill which would have expanded Selective Service registration to include women.

This candidate voted for H.R. 485, the Protecting Care for All Patients Act, which would prohibit federal health programs from using discriminatory measures known as Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs.)  A vote for the bill is a pro-life position that indicates opposition to reducing or eliminating care for people with various disabilities and chronic conditions.

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I strongly believe in the right to life.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

I believe life begins at conception.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

With reluctance and only with extreme danger to the mother's health.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

I have fought hard in the State Legislature in Congress to restrict any taxpayer funds from going to support abortions.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

All means to limit abortions should be utilized.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.

Strongly Disagree

People who can afford to pay more taxes are already paying more taxes. We should reduce the tax burden on all families not just continue to spend money we don't have at the expense of those who work hard.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

The government absolutely needs to spend less to get our national debt under control.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

I support sunsetting programs that are no longer useful, eliminating unnecessary agencies like the Department of Education, and ensuring that U.S. taxpayer dollars are used to support Americans in need, not people who entered our country illegally.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Businesses owned and operated by individuals should be able to make decisions for their businesses that fit with their beliefs, not those imposed by the government.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

To those who say that there is a "Separation of Church & State" Doctrine: I say: Poppycock! I am the Church, I am the state. How you going to separate me? The Church should play a part in influencing good governance: the founders knew that. They intended for that to be the case. On the other hand: they expressly forbade the government from getting involved in the Church. They knew that King George III had proven what a disaster that was & didn't want it to be the case in this new government.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

Mine is actually C somewhat reluctantly. America in my opinion should have a safety net (not a hammock) for those unfortunate who need help. In my opinion: 4 classes of Americans should be given a hand: 1. Those who served our Nation in the armed forces & need help. 2&3. The elderly and young who have absolutely no one to take care of them, and 4. Those who are mentally or physically challenged without anyone to take care of them. And, the Church should play a role helping the less fortunate.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

The last thing we need is a federal government which tracks people based on their perceived mental health status. We certainly need more and better availability and treatments for mental health services, but this does not mean tracking people via an agency through bureaucrats in Washington D.C.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

B. As it applies to our Allies and an eminent threat to the U.S. It should however, be preceded by Congressional Approval and all avenues of diplomacy and financial and all other tools at our disposal...rw

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

We should do everything we can to bring all manufacturing on to American shores. The Pandemic showed us that our supply chains were extremely vulnerable to disruption and especially by our enemies. We should encourage businesses to stay out of China and encourage our partners around the world to do the same. And we should make it clear to China & other countries that China will not be allowed to take over Taiwan as well as other countries...rw

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel is GOD's chosen people and as the Scripture says: "The apple of His Eye." They are our best ally in the Middle East & pretty much around the world. They are also the stabilizing force in the Middle East. I support ALL efforts to support and protect Israel from terrorists and all of the evil regimes seeking to destroy Israel. Additionally, antisemitism has no place in this world.

Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.

Strongly Agree

Islamic terrorism continues to be one of the most real threats to the United States both at home and to our assets abroad.

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those who do it legally under the laws & regulations set out by Congress. And in this day & age: a very rigorous background check should be done by the embassy located in the "country of origin." Furthermore: those wanting to come here should help bear some if not most of the cost associated with that background check. To sum it up: The Constitution is pretty straight forward: Congress shall make immigration laws...

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Parents don't need or want woke federal bureaucrats determining what curriculum and values their children should learn. Society doesn't know what is best for a child, their parents do. Control over schools should be local.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

Parents don't need or want woke federal bureaucrats determining what their children learn and we absolutely don't need foreign intervention or funding.

VALUES

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

We must fight to protect these very vulnerable young children, especially in schools where these ideologies have taken hold in many places. It should be illegal for any child to be exposed to body mutilation or puberty blockers before they even become adults, especially when the parents are not involved.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

GOD made them both... male & female. Marriages are to be between a man and a woman.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

JESUS CHRIST is the Saviour of the World. GOD spoke through the holy prophets of old - prophesying His Arrival. An eternity with GOD is promised through the Blood of the Lamb.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

As a Republican Precinct chair, an election clerk and an election judge in Brazoria County for many years I have a lot of experience with elections. Voting (and voter) integrity should be protected. Any reasonable person knows you have to have ID. And with the influx of a lot of illegal aliens... now it's even more critical...rw

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

We have two genders, male and female. Biologically men and women are not the same. For many reasons, they should not be made to compete with each other in sports or forcibly share other spaces. Anything otherwise is anti-female.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Oil and gas is the most reliable existing source, but nuclear energy options provide the greatest opportunity to support the growing demand for electricity.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

When I was in the Texas legislature, I was rated the No 1 conservative voting record along with (tied) my friend, the late Ken Legler our first term.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

We should fight to protect children from online predators.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Those convicted of a crime using a gun or adjudicated as mentally incompetent or dangerous to society - having said that: extreme caution is needed in setting those standards as to what it means to be "incompetent" or a "danger to society".
