What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Mostly how man used the idea of god to manipulate entire civilizations. The notion that Kings and Queens for centuries were able to maintain a stranglehold and oppress their population(s) through the idea of the Divine Right of Kings -- that the monarchy derived their power and authority from god and that to question this power was to question god. Evidently they thought people should have more control over their lives than god should.

Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

Voters/Industry (aka: the people) Constitution Congress Supreme Court The idea that media, professional sports, and academia are included in here is a little laughable. And as noted, god has no bearing on the authority of the United States.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Under whatever circumstances a woman and/or her doctor discuss and feel is appropriate. In short, it's really nobody's god damn business.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am not religious nor do I believe in any way, shape, or form that a person's religious beliefs (or lack thereof them) should be weighed in a country that is designed not to legislate on the merits of faith.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Moderate

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

To be perfectly honest, the left/right paradigm requested in the previous question does not encapsulate my beliefs especially well. I value the idea of conservatism on the basis of "being conservative". This does not mean that I discriminate against gays, prevent women from controlling their own bodies, nor think people belong incarcerated for non-violent offenses as the current "conservative" agenda calls for. To that extent, I also value the idea of liberalism on the basis of "having a liberal mind". This does not mean that I believe my money should be taken to pay for other people's pet projects, that I think people should not have guns to defend themselves, or that success should be guaranteed much beyond the hard work that goes into it. I focus on the vertical scale and do not believe that we should live in an authoritarian society whereby the government or even the majority is free to dictate these policies for others.

Additional comment from candidate:

As a candidate for public office I delight in receiving these surveys and have completed many. It disappoints me to no end that in the year 2016, we still allow the bigotries of faith and religion to dictate so many policies. The idea that a political survey should ask me questions about Judeo-Christian values is incredibly sad and yet illustrative of exactly why we need candidates who are willing to use facts, logic, reason, and common sense to steer public policy rather than those who spew their ideas not from sound reasoning, but from an antiquated book of fables. I hope that you will publish these answers in full.
