Keep Burning Bright

We Need Your Prayers!

With the glorious 250th anniversary behind us, I’m wondering how we keep the spirit of America burning bright, energizing our work for this beloved Republic.

Gathering for parades, cookouts, and fireworks, as well as listening to concerts and speeches, provided a helpful dose of joy for the work at hand. So I find myself praying, “Lord, how can we keep that Independence Day spark as we equip your people to show up, prepared for midterm elections?”

Those of you reading these emails are in the trenches with me, and I’m so grateful for you! Voting is not glamorous. It’s fumbling with ballots, praying through options, trading insights with like-minded Americans, and getting the word out to those less inclined to pay attention.

If you’re looking for ways to come alongside iVoterGuide, I compiled a short list of ideas below. However you’re inclined to put hand to plow, I want to fan your flame with a playlist of patriotic songs assembled by iVoterGuide staff. You can listen on Spotify or YouTube. It’s nice having a little musical accompaniment as we work. Now for the ideas:

Spread the word. Our communications team is working hard to keep voters up to date on primary elections still happening all over the country. If primaries are coming up in your state, please share our email alerts with election dates and voter guides with your churches, friends, and family members.

Evaluate candidates as a volunteer panelist. Our research team will be evaluating thousands of candidates for general election voter guides, and we could use your help. Please consider volunteering to serve on a candidate evaluation panel to support the breadth and depth of our research. Learn more about how you can help.

Pray. Most importantly, we need prayers—for God to expand our reach; to make ready the hearts of His people; to infuse all we do with His wisdom and love; to protect us from the Evil One; and to strengthen our staff. Pray for whatever God puts on your heart for America. There’s no better work you can do than intercede before the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. (There’s also no better balm for your own heart.)

I hope the patriotic songs we’ve shared will help keep your spirit burning with joy, but God and His Word are your daily supply. As His gifted servant famously said in Nehemiah 8, “the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
