QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, North Carolina should repeal its law allowing abortion up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I support defending and protecting innocent life at every stage, beginning with the unborn. I am against abortion.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of Church and State means to me that the government should not infringe on any person's right to freely exercise their religious beliefs. No person should fear retribution or punishment for refusing to comply with any action that is in conflict with their religious beliefs.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I would promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all by advocating for the expansion of the competitive healthcare marketplace in North Carolina, reigning-in government mandates, and promoting consumer choice. I will work to eliminate barriers to competition, repeal certificate of need laws, and allow consumers more opportunity to purchase health insurance that meets their needs.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State, sheriff and local law enforcement agencies should be required to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) Program to enhance the safety and security of their communities to identify and detain aliens.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Foreign citizens seeking to immigrate to the United States must do so legally, in compliance with immigration laws of the United States. I support a strong and secure border.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I am a strong supporter of the people's 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms. Before discussing additional gun ownership laws, we must recognize that there are existing gun laws on the books that are not being enforced.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Legislation that expands educational freedom/school choice. Legislation that strengthens enforcement of illegal immigration. Legislation making NC an increasingly veteran-friendly state through tax-exempt military pension benefits. Repeal certificate of need laws - expand competitive healthcare marketplace. Tax-policy legislation that supports small businesses, entrepreneurship, fosters job creation, and allows North Carolinians to keep more of their hard earned money.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I am a self-described conservative on my public social media profile, and my candidate website erinfornc.com details support for conservative policies. I have been a registered Republican voter my entire voting-age life. I have served on the Board of the Wake County Republican Women's Club for 2.5 years, and have been a member of three North Carolina Republican Clubs, all of which support conservative values.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have an M.A. in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University and a B.A. in Government and International Politics from George Mason University. I am the mother of two children in the public school system; a small business owner here in the District; Founder and Director of a non-profit serving community youth, which established a youth orchestra in southern wake county; PTA president; Wife to a recently retired Army Infantry Officer and Army Ranger; Recipient of the Shield of Sparta - Heroine of Infantry Award from the National Infantry Association; 12-year Family Readiness Group Leader and advocate for families of deployed soldiers; Vice Chair of the Board of Adjustment, Town of Holly Springs. I have 7 years of experience working in Washington, DC with lawmakers and public policy officials to improve the regulatory decision-making process in government and remove government red tape.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I have been fighting for families for 13 years, whether it is families of deployed soldiers in a military community or in District 37. I will be a defender of life in the General Assembly. My older sister Lisa was born with hydrocephalus and is now a disabled adult who does not live independently. Without life-saving healthcare at birth and throughout her life, she would not have survived. I will be an advocate for the protection of innocent life and for affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare through competitive open-market solutions. As PTA president and founder of a non-profit benefiting community youth, I am a strong supporter of opportunity, options and choice in education for our youth. A small business owner, I will support policies that foster job growth and ensure fiscal responsibility. A life-long conservative and Christian, I will protect our God-given rights as outlined in the Constitution. I ask for your vote on March 3rd.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
Parents should have the right to know what schools are teaching their children about sex and LGBT issues and should have the right to opt their children out of any instruction to which they object.
Strongly Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. I was baptized and raised in the Methodist Church. My husband was baptized and raised in the Lutheran Church. My son was baptized in the Methodist Church; my daughter in the Lutheran Church. I believe in Jesus Christ, the only son of God. I believe that every life is created by God and should be protected at every stage, including the unborn. I support the right for every person to exercise their religious beliefs without fear of punishment. I believe that both children and society benefit from a strong family structure, led by two parents who have the freedom to make decisions in education that best suit their children. I believe that marriage is defined as between one man and one woman.
