RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am pro-life, and there are two very special people in my life who are why I am, and always will be, pro-life. State government should adopt laws which prioritize the protection of innocent human life, and demonstrate compassion and respect for a woman's need for bodily autonomy. Abortion law should include exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother. I DO NOT support unrestricted late-term abortion. Late-term abortion up through the moment of birth, when a fetus can feel pain and has developed organs, is cruel, barbaric, and should not be legal.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?
State government should adopt laws which prioritize the protection of innocent human life, and demonstrate compassion and respect for a woman's need for bodily autonomy. Abortion law should include exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?
Yes
ECONOMY
The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.
Agree
The best way the government can do that is to provide more opportunity for upward mobility by keeping taxes low, allowing for school choice and education innovation, cutting government red-tape to keep costs low, and allow the free market to work. Government should take a cost-wise approach to state spending.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Conservative smart tax reform and budget strategies have propelled NC to #1 in the country for economic health and prosperity. Government should continue on its successful path of lowering taxes, taking a cost-wise approach to state spending, save for the future, and adopt reasonable regulatory reform.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Under no circumstance should a government be able to close a church.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
It is proper and right for a lawmaker's religious beliefs to serve as the basis for their decision-making. The state should protect the church but not recognize one religion over another religion, thus preserving religious freedom.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
In a public heath crisis; religious and medical exemptions must remain in place.
EDUCATION
States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.
Strongly Agree
In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?
Parents have the right to know what their child is being taught in school in every situation.
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Parents should not be restricted from speaking in school board meetings.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a life-long Christian. I believe Jesus Christ is God's son and God sent his son, the Messiah, to save us from our sins so we can have eternal life in Heaven. I believe in living a life of honesty, humility, forgiveness, truth, justice, strength in family, hard work, integrity, and generosity.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Voter ID, shortening early voting timeline to one week at the most, limit mail-in voting to only certain circumstances, no ballots received after Election Day.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. I believe racism exists, but I do not believe people or our institutions are inherently racist.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
Representative Erin Paré has served in the North Carolina House of Representatives since January 2021. She represents the people of District 37 in southern Wake County. Erin serves on the House Committee on Appropriations; the subcommittee on General Government, Committee on Appropriations; the Committee on Energy and Public Utilities (Vice Chair); the Committee on Rules, Calendar and Operations of the House; the Committee on Homeland Security, Military and Veterans Affairs; and the Committee on Regulatory Reform. Erin has been appointed by Speaker of the House Tim Moore to serve on the Joint Legislative Commission on Governmental Operations, and to serve as Chair of the House Select Committee on Women in S.T.E.M.. Erin is a member of the Life Science Caucus, the Joint Bipartisan Arts Caucus, and serves as an officer of the bipartisan Legislative Women’s Caucus. Erin is a member of the Election Integrity and Education K-12 legislative working groups. Erin and her husband Wayne, a 24-year Army veteran, settled in Holly Springs after 12 years as an active-duty Army family. As a military spouse, Erin dedicated these years to strengthening military communities and supporting families of deployed soldiers, including serving as the Family Readiness Group Leader for 120 families of the 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment in Savannah, Georgia during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The majority of Wayne’s 8 deployments to the Middle East took place while the couple was raising their children, Madison and Cole. Erin is the recipient of the Shield of Sparta Heroine of Infantry Award from the National Infantry Association for her work and dedication to the United States Army. Prior to military life, Erin spent seven years as a government affairs professional in Washington, D.C., representing businesses and trade associations on public policy matters and regulatory reform. Erin served as the director of the Regulatory Improvement Council (RIC), a business coalition which advocated for the improved use of transparency, sound science, and cost-benefit analysis in the federal regulatory decision-making process. Erin and Wayne own a successful small business in Holly Springs called Play-It-Again Sports. Erin is also the founder and director of a non-profit organization serving community youth in music arts, which established a youth orchestra in southern Wake County. Prior to elected office, Erin served as PTA president and board member at Holly Ridge Elementary School. Erin served as the Vice Chair of the Town of Holly Springs Board of Adjustment. Erin grew up in Herndon, Virginia and graduated with a M.A. in International Commerce and Policy and a B.A. in Government International Politics from George Mason University. A violinist and violin teacher to both children and adults, Erin works to promote the value of musical and creative arts in K-12 schools. Erin has 2 sisters, one of whom is a special needs adult and the other a registered nurse. Born with hydrocephalus, Lisa is a survivor of lifelong, life-threatening health complications. Because of Lisa’s story, Erin is an advocate for special-needs children and adults and their families. Erin's legislative priorities include policies that promote job growth, lower costs, strong small businesses and strong families budgets via keeping taxes low, cost-wise spending, and reasonable regulatory reform. Promoting school choice and education freedom (because it is working). Support for our police, military and veterans, and first responders. Supporting the family and family values, and making sure local needs are met by helping return tax payer dollars to the district for traffic improvements.
