QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

A unique being is created upon conception. 70% perish naturally, typically very early in the pregnancy. Results from genetic testing is available at 11 weeks. Hard stops on abortion are needed upon viability of the baby, sometime between 15 and 22 weeks regardless of circumstances.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

Schools should not be involved with advice, but should notify parents or legal guardians as well as local law enforcement authorities if there is suspected sexual abuse of the student. Information regarding outside specialty agencies such as crisis pregnancy centers should be freely available to students via the school counselor's office for further qualified support.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Only through private property rights and protections can a society progress and become wealthy and is critical for the success of any civilization.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Funding of public education is essential for our society to function as we require an educated workforce for the success of our nation. We should not have free college paid for by government, but K-12 is essential for a free republican society.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Agree

Teachers in a public school need to teach what is required. We allow for private education and employment for those that want to teach other curricula. Ideally teachers are able to present multiple sides of a contentious issue and should remain a neutral arbiter allowing students to learn and discuss and think critically about divisive topics.

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

Biased and racist organizations such as Planned Parenthood have no business in public schools, especially in terms of health curricula.

Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Strongly Agree

Discipline is essential for student learning for each individual student and the classroom as a whole. It is imperative to have effective disciplinary protocols and standards for all students to foster the creation of good citizens.

Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?

Yes

All instruction materials should be freely available to all taxpayers.

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Strongly Agree

Understanding the core principles of Western Civilization is essential for all students in order to create knowledgeable and upstanding citizens.

I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

Strongly Disagree

DEI is an inherently and explicitly segregationist philosophy that is an impediment to the creation of a diverse and flourishing society.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Civics, Art & Music, Physical Fitness, American History, Personal Finances, Information Technology, Foreign Language, Vocational Learning, Social Emotional Learning, Sexuality

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Neutral

Money should follow the child so long as the schooling is both qualified via certification and/or accreditation and the measured outcome is better than the local public school average.

Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?

Equality of opportunities is the only option available as equity of outcomes is an impossibility.

Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.

Opt-in

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Lutheran.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Sexual education is a tough topic and should ideally be taught by parents. Children are not sexual creatures until puberty starts, so typically around 6th grade. The public schools should also teach sexual education for the students that need it.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

Sexual education should include basic anatomy, the creation of life and the processes and stages of pregnancy (including natural childbirth videos, a real eye opener), contraceptive methods (including abstinence), consent (extremely important especially today for boys), side effects of abortion (another eye opener) both physical and emotional, how sex bonds people emotionally. Ultimately sexual education is needed in public schools and should focus on the basic functions and outcomes, both good and bad.

Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.

Strongly Agree

The science is quite clear that these sorts of interventions with students that identify as having gender dysphoria are detrimental to healthy outcomes.

Children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.

Strongly Agree

Depravity has no place in the public schools.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.

Strongly Agree

The nuclear family is the foundation upon which Western Civilization is built and came to dominate the world. Marriage is a religious term and not a legal one. Civil unions outside the Church can be among same sex couples.

Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.

Agree

Parents have the right to raise their children so long as there is not an abusive situation.

Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.

Strongly Agree

It is imperative for parents to have knowledge of what occurs with their children during school hours and their medical history. Schools and parents should be working synergistically for the child.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Maintaining faith in our electoral system requires fundamental protections of the legitimate vote.

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Men and women are fundamentally different and women need their own protected spaces away from physically superior men. Mixing sexes creates an uncomfortable and potentially dangerous situation for both sexes, be if physically, mentally, or emotionally.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I'm essentially a Goldwater conservative.

2ND AMENDMENT

Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.

Neutral

While I strongly support the right to bear arms, police are trained to shoot anyone that is armed in this situation. Having teachers armed creates an additional hazard for the teachers once police arrive. Other weapons, such as rocks, should be in classrooms to fight back if needed.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.

Neutral

This question is based on the COVID-19 pandemic which the initial science showed was not a hazard to children. Should there be a more deadly disease outbreak (think Polio) that very hazardous to children than certainly every possible precaution should be made that is supported by real research. As a biochemist, I am uniquely able to read and understand the primary literature in these sorts of situations.
