RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

No elective abortion of any kind should be allowed since this would be the intentional taking of a human life which is a violation of the image of God in which every human is made and of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Every person's life is assured equal protection under the law.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Though I agree that essential safety standards and reporting should be required, there are inherent dangers to the pregnant mother who uses these drugs, such as hemorrhaging or an incomplete abortion. Yet, over and above these dangers to the mother, these drugs result in the intentional taking of a human life and therefore should be illegal.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

No taxpayer funds should be received by any agency which provides abortion services.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

All human life is sacred and must be protected by state and federal laws. No practice of assisted suicide or euthanasia should be allowed or receive any protection under the law.


ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Many economists warn that a higher minimum wage leads to increased unemployment affecting the less skilled, less educated worker the most. A lower minimum wage encourages workers to acquire better training and find higher-paying jobs.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

These ratings are highly subjective and routinely put the government in charge of picking the winners based on their loyalty to the social ideologies promoted by a political party. Instead, public monies and contracts should be awarded solely on the basis of a company's ability to deliver a superior product on time.


RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

There are no circumstances in which the government has the authority to prevent churches from gathering in person to worship God. The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Any government edict seeking to close churches is a violation of the Constitution and must be disregarded.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

The "free exercise" clause of the First Amendment is not limited only to practices and beliefs held behind the doors of the church house. Individuals are free to exercise their religious beliefs and morality openly and in their businesses.


HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C - The move toward socialized healthcare has not delivered on its promises to enable one to keep the doctor of their choice or to make healthcare coverage more affordable. Rather it has shifted the burden of rising healthcare coverage to companies and taxpayers while also lowering the quality and timeliness of medical care.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

The freedom of individuals to make their own healthcare decisions must be protected by the law. No vaccine mandate should ever be made when the threat and spread of disease are unclear and the vaccine's long-term effect is unknown and may be harmful.


NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Communist ideologies are evil at their core, denials of God, His order of natural law, and the dignity of human beings created in His image. China's violation of trade agreements and laws must be met with firm accountability. Their infiltration into our universities and acquiring of US property must be understood as their long game to spread their communist influence here. Their quiet invasion must be seen for what it is and stopped.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

The United States is Israel's greatest friend and strongest defender in the world. That must never change because Israel is the United States' strongest ally in the Middle East and a protector of human rights against Islamic extremism. The war in Gaza and US support of Israel represents to the world an answer to the question, "Does a sovereign nation have the right to exist and defend itself against invading enemies?" Our friendship with Israel tells the world that the answer is, "Yes, it does."


IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Our unprotected southern border is one of the greatest threats to national security that our nation currently faces. The steady flow of fentanyl kills thousands of Americans every year. Without question enemies of our country have free access to enter undetected with the great likelihood that nuclear devices are now within our borders waiting to be used. The border must be secured now.


EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Ohio's public schools are blessed to have some of the finest educators in the world. They should be paid well and supported in the classroom by their administrators. At the same time parents have the right to protect their children from indoctrination with values which violate their deeply held beliefs. State education funds should be allocated allowing parents the freedom to educate their children in keeping with their own values.


VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

It is unacceptable for doctors to be allowed to mutilate children's bodies, ignoring science and common sense. Boys are boys and girls are girls and that will never change. It is abusive to tell a child their gender can be changed, performing irreversible medical procedures on their bodies which will disable their ability to perform one of the most basic functions of a human being - the ability to reproduce.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Parents have the right to raise their children according to their own values. Parents' rights to direct their child's education should be protected by the law. But parents do not have the right to abuse their child physically, permanently handicapping their child and making them incapable of normal sexual intimacy and reproduction. Gender transitioning is an ideology based in make-believe but the physical abuse is real, lasting a lifetime. Our laws must protect children from this abuse.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

The 2015 Obergefell ruling made same sex marriage legal but those who take the words of the Bible seriously know that was a gross overstep. The definition of marriage has been once and for all established by the One who created it. Government institutions may make legal pronouncements but no one has the authority to change what has been once for all determined. Those who hold the biblical view of marriage should never be compelled to participate in a same sex wedding against their conscience.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born again Christian and pastor of a Southern Baptist church. I believe the Bible is the inerrant, authoritative word of God. The Bible alone has authority to bind the conscience. Jesus, the Son of God, was born of the virgin, Mary, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross bearing the guilt of man's sin. He rose from the dead on the third day and reigns as the Lord over heaven and earth. All people are sinners deserving God's judgment. Those who repent of their sins and believe on the Lord Jesus are saved from God's punishment. Jesus will return to judge all mankind rewarding His followers with eternal life and condemning unbelievers to eternal punishment. Believers find their greatest joy in obeying and worshipping God.

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

I will oppose any legislation seeking to allow voting to take place without photo identification.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism, or better stated, ethnic hatred or discrimination is morally repugnant and should be condemned wherever it is found. However, racism is not the greatest threat to safety in our nation currently. Our greatest threats are due to an unprotected southern border which fuels drug and human trafficking and opens the door to terrorists who without question have found their way in very likely with nuclear devices and are preparing for the moment to cause harm.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Critical Race Theory is based in cultural Marxism and is a false way of perceiving society and all of reality. There should be no place for the ideas of CRT in public schools or universities.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Title IX was never intended to and should never be reinterpreted to mean biological males may take the place on the team away from biological females. It is unimaginable that any school board would subject female students to the emotionally traumatic experience and threat of physical harm of allowing male students to have access to biological women's restrooms, locker rooms, etc.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The US Constitution names the purposes of government: "establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." I believe government should be kept small, limited by the restraints set forth in the Constitution. The government has no authority to shut down the economy, schools, or churches in the name of stopping the spread of a sickness.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

I support the funding of the police because this is one of the purposes of government named in the Constitution, "insure domestic tranquility." Without the proper protection of law enforcement keeping our streets, safe society becomes unmanageable.


2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The laws which currently exist must be enforced to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.
