QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Strongly Disagree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

The North Carolina Constitution list a sound public education as a right of State citizens. As such, through government funding we should provide every child in this state with the opportunity to attend public school, K-12. However, the current state of public funding is out of control and public education has become a bureaucracy full of wasteful spending and overpopulated by administrators rather than teachers and support staff. North Carolina spends 58% of our state budget on Education. This should be more than enough to educate the children of this state, yet we see declining scores and proficiency. I support government funding of public education that shows results and is accountable to the tax payer.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I was required to receive certain vaccines in the US Navy. I can see a rational for some of those, but being required to take experimental vaccines should never be required. Specifically never by a school or employer.

EDUCATION

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Only if they have disqualified themselves by their own disrespectful behavior.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, American History, Arts & Music, Personal Finances, Vocational Learning

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Strongly Agree

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

Once a district begins accepting federal dollars, they are beholden to the dictates of the Federal Government.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Disagree

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

What is the function of the local school board?

To ensure the children in the system have the best chance available to achieve academic success based on their abilities and efforts.

Do you support the National School Board Association's characterization of parents who speak out at school board meetings as "domestic terrorists"?

No

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

Local School Boards, with consultation from teachers and parents, should have the authority to set curriculum and resources used. The curriculum and resources used should be free of social agendas be strictly academic.

Who has the ultimate right to control the education of children in public schools? (a) parents (b) teachers (c)school boards.

Ultimately, parents have the right and responsibility to control the education of their children. Parents, teachers and school boards should work as partners in the education of children in the public school system.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Protestant Christian and I hold to an orthodox Christian worldview. My family attends weekly church services and we are raising our children in a Christian home. My Christian worldview shapes how I view all areas of my life, and I try to conduct myself accordingly.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Parents are responsible for teaching sexual education to their children. Parents are best situated to gauge when their child is at an appropriate age to begin these discussions. A child's age and maturity level can vary greatly and parents are the best judge of when to begin sexual education. Unfortunately we do live in a world where many parents will not provide sexual education to their children, however that does not make it the responsibility of the public school.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

human anatomy/the reproductive system

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

John Adams stated that our system of government would only work for a moral and religious people.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

EQUALITY

I support the teaching that an individual, solely by virtue of his or her race, is inherently racist, whether consciously or unconsciously.

Strongly Disagree

The teaching of inherent racism based solely on the color of one's skin is an inherently racist position.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Disagree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Any look at my personal Facebook page or publicly available tweets from my personal Twitter handle (@jacobarthurNC) show my Christian, conservative, stances an any number of issues.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I would like voters to know that I have no desire for power or fame. I am simply a parent who is concerned for my children's future and the future of children in my school system. I hope to be elected and serve the citizens of my community to the best of my ability.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

None. Vaccination of any kind is a personal choice between individuals, parents and doctors. Current vaccine requirements in public schools have exemptions available, so there should be no requirement for any new vaccines either.

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree
