QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
None. When a life or death emergency situation exists endangering the life of the mother, and a choice has to be made as to which life to save (which is an extremely low percentage of cases), then that decision can be made - but I wouldn't even consider that abortion.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
I am pro life - which includes ALL life.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
South Carolina income taxes should be vastly reduced or eliminated to make South Carolina more competitive in the South Eastern regions
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
There are many areas where the government is involved, where it really should not be. I believe in a strong, limited, lean government - limiting government intervention to areas that secure the rights of the citizens of this state.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None. Church buildings need to be a safe environment (adhering to basic building codes), but the gathering of the church (people gathering together to practice their faith) is not for the state to limit, according to the first amendment of the US Constitution.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
The best solution is a public, private combination - where essential medical care is granted for those who cannot afford it (with funds coming from mostly private and charitable organizations - with government perhaps covering the shortfall if there is one). The remainder of health care should be a private system, where people are free to participate or not.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Government, school and employers should not require vaccinations. This is a personal decision.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Firstly, we must maintain a strong military. Secondly, we must secure our national borders. Thirdly, as it is the role of the government to secure the rights of safety for its residents, the United States must continue to have a counter-terrorism task force that focuses on eliminating any threats to the national security of the nation (as it pertains to bringing terror, harm, or war to our border or to US citizens living abroad). Finally, we must continue standing with Israel and help maintain their QME.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
This is a must.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
As an immigrant myself, I understand the desire for people of other nations to come to this great land. Having gone through the system - legally, I can say, better than most, that the system is broken. It is far too difficult for good people to do it right - the system must be streamlined, with checks for national security, and sponsors for economic security for all immigrants coming here. There should be a cap on legal immigration (a number per year) that is broken down into merit-based, family-sponsored, and then any other individual who seeks a better life. Of course, those coming as refugees should be permitted to continue to apply for refuge - but all of this must be done in an orderly way that doesn't overwhelm our border, our security forces or the legal system (as well as the economic well-being of the nation).
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
Parents should be able to choose the best learning environment for their child. A good portion of the tax money that is collected from parents should follow the child - not be put into a broken system. More accountability for our educational spending and education standards is vital.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born again believer in Jesus Christ. I believe that the Bible is the authoritative word of God, which instructs us how to live and prosper as individuals, families, communities and societies.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Require a photo ID component for all voting (in person and absentee), limit strongly those who can vote by absentee ballot. Reduce vastly mail in ballots. Automatically audit all polling stations before official numbers are verified. Ensure that voting rolls are purged every election cycle - with required communication and checks between Vital Statistics and Elections offices.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. Of course hate groups exist (and always will) and must be treated as threats (as any entity that seeks to bring violence to the citizens of this nation). All members of our society should be treated equally under the law and are entitled to the same protections as outlined in the constitution. So if we uphold our constitution, then racism will not be permitted to bring harm to the domestic security of this nation.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Restitution is a proper form of bringing about justice, but that is not on the basis of race - it is only on the basis of wrongs done to individuals by others - and should be within the scope of the lifetime of that individual.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. Too much government intervention is ALWAYS a bad thing - because of inefficiencies, red tape, and corruption - as well as government picking winners and losers (which is not their place). Simple guidelines should be in place - as enacted by the will of the people - by duly elected members of the legislature, not by appointed bureaucrats.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
Again, care should be taken to not destroy our environment, but there is always a balance between progress and protections.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To secure the rights of individuals as outlined by the constitution.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Did not answer
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am very pro-life, (not just anti-abortion - but really care for all people in our society - to safeguard their lives and liberties). We need to see our education system fixed (it is inexcusable that SC ranks so low (43rd) in the nation - and that our nation ranks so low in the world in education), by bringing in better standards of curriculum, removing indoctrination from the classroom, and safeguarding our children from being sexualized or exposed to age inappropriate content. We also need to continue to push for the protection of freedoms (such as medical rights of conscience, save women sports, religious freedoms, free speech, and 2nd amendment). We also need to ensure that our governments remain small - and move away from the current socialistic trends, by lowering taxes and reducing spending.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
Police officers should not be exposed to liability for conduct that is consistent with department policy (as long as department policy is constitutional). Otherwise we are punishing our law enforcement for simply doing the job they've been asked to do.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
While we need to address mental health (which is part of the increase in homelessness), it cannot be at the expense of police budgets.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Virtually none. Citizens have a duty to bear arms (not just the opportunity) according to our constitution - in order to keep our government in check (not just for personal defense).
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
We cannot punish those who are, in good faith, upholding the constitution, by exposing them to frivolous and misdirected lawsuits. The problem is not guns - the issues are mental, relational and community dynamics.
