QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
None. (I want to clarify that I do not consider surgery to save a mother's life in the case of an ectopic pregnancy in which both individuals would die without intervention to be defined as an abortion, even though medical billing may classify this as one.)
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I would like to see recipients of tax funds held more accountable for spending. If spending records were fully transparent to the public, I believe we would see many opportunities for improved efficiency and decreased waste. If these areas were addressed, theoretically, taxes could be lowered.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
In response to the recent pandemic, a lot of money was distributed. Much of this money went to non-necessities or to individuals who did not really need it. Money should not be distributed without accountability for how it is spent. Programs that are all-encompassing should be scaled down to put limited resources where they are most needed. Generational poverty should be addressed by incentives and support to help individuals who attempt to better themselves. We need to do a detailed evaluation of every area of spending and determine how each can be decreased through improved efficiency, or eliminated if possible.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None. This is an infringement on the rights of individuals to freely exercise religion.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C. In a perfect world, government assistance would not be needed. However, we currently have many people dependent upon this. How do we control these expenditures without hurting people? Reform is needed. Patient-centered reform should include several key areas: 1. Increasing options to consumers. 2. Decreasing costs of insurance, care, and medications. 3. Introducing economic incentives for consumers, providers, and insurers that promote quality services at a lower cost and result in increased access for all individuals. It should focus on prevention, management, and treatment of adverse health conditions. Consumers should know charges before services are provided. Reform would include minimizing waste throughout the system and increasing alternative supportive programs in lieu of initial entry into the healthcare continuum at higher, more expensive levels of care. I support programs that improve healthcare access and quality, and minimize the fiscal strain on Medicare, Medicaid, and our healthcare system in general.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
None. I do not support mandatory vaccinations.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Islamic terrorism is not the only threat to our country. Open borders allow enemies of all types to enter. One of the first things that needs to be completed is securing our borders to prevent waves of undocumented people from entering.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
People of all cultural backgrounds should be permitted to enter if they follow our laws to enter as documented immigrants. If they do not respect and follow our laws to enter, how can we expect them to follow our laws after they are here?
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Discrimination based on sex is illegal and should already include sexual orientation, gender identity, and pregnancy.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in moral absolutes. I base my personal beliefs and values on the teachings of the Bible. This unique book provides inspiration, instruction, comfort, and conviction. Its central message of God's love for all gives hope and purpose. I am a Christian, meaning I have a personal relationship with God by believing Jesus made this possible by His life, death, and resurrection. I find practical application of my faith in my life. Some of these ways include servant leadership, integrity, and purpose.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
In addition to requiring photo identification to vote everywhere, I would like to see improved updates of registered voter records. As long as people who have moved or passed away are on the list of registered voters, there is potential for abuse.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism continues to be an issue in our country. It could become a threat to domestic security because of the divisive nature of the media and others about this topic.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
I think we are at a time in our society where the best way to move on without causing further division is to assure everyone is given equal opportunity to be successful. Programs where incentives are offered to people who are working to better themselves, regardless of race, is the key to helping all people escape generational poverty and assure everyone has a chance to be successful if this is what they really want.
iVoterGuide Notes:
*The candidate later provided clarification: I would like to change the answer to “Disagree”, not “Strongly disagree” and add this statement to the end of what I have already written: “However, if documentation exists that a particular group or individual has been prevented from having equal opportunity through wrongdoing, I agree with focusing on this group or individual to assure equal opportunity is achieved. “Reparations” can take many forms and I am open to exploring this further.”
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The purpose of government is to provide a way for order to be maintained. A government should serve the people, but not control the people. Our Constitution defines the role of the government, but also the rights of the people that are not to be taken away by government.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
www.ballotpedia.org/Susan_Dillon
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am passionate about legislation and policies that follow Constitutional guidance. I believe in protection of human life and an individual's dignity and comfort at all stages of life. I support educational policies that reflect our local goals and concerns and provide parents the ability to choose the best learning option for their children. Reinforcing traditional academics, including basic life skills and career-focused options, is the key to preparing our children for success. I believe individuals have the right to make health care decisions (informed choice) based on accurate information even in cases where I may disagree with the decision. In addition, I am committed to advocate for legislation that represents everyone as much as possible, not just special interest groups. However, I will not compromise on moral or ethical issues. Through servant leadership, I have become an effective leader and advocate for the people I serve. I pledge to maintain my integrity, meaning my conduct will remain in a moral, ethical, and appropriate manner, even when no one is watching. In addition, my purpose and passion are to have maximum positive impact to improve the lives of others.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I think the laws we currently have need to be evaluated. For example, "gun-free" zones could be an invitation for someone who wants to cause harm to target them. The Red Flag laws need to be evaluated to assure they are optimal to protect the right of everyone to be armed, without the threat of someone else having their right to life being taken away by someone who is unable to exhibit safety with a weapon. As far as further restrictions however, I do not see anything in this area that would improve public safety.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
