What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Parents are best qualified to make educational decisions for their children. Traditional public education is the choice made by more than 80% of parents. Government (both state and federal) should provide adequate funding for traditional public schools to provide an excellent education for our children and adequately compensate teachers. Funding should also be available for parents who make a different choice, but the funding streams should be separate to allow transparency and accountability.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state is actually not a part of the Constitution, but traditionally, it has meant that teachers and other school officials are not allowed to actively promote religion in public schools. This does not preclude students from practicing their faith, participating in faith-based clubs, or expressing their views to their peers. Teachers should be free to wear crosses, have Bibles on their desks, or otherwise passively express their faith.
IMMIGRATION
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.

ICE is especially effective as it identifies criminals who are here illegally, detains them, and sends them back to their country of origin.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

These agencies have no place in our schools. It is not the prerogative of schools to encourage these activities. Families should deal with these issues, not public schools.
Consequences for bad behavior create a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

When clear consequences for progressive discipline are outlined and practiced, students understand behavioral boundries. Allowing the behavior of one or two students to disrupt the learning of everyone in the classroom fails all students in their quest for learning.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Ours is unique history, one with a long track record of success. Our students need to understand how our democratic republic was formed and what measures are necessary to ensure that our freedoms are sustained. A thorough understanding of the founding documents leads to American patriotism as students are motivated to continue the freedoms that make America great.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Having visited the US Department of Education on several occasions to advocate for St. Johns County and Florida children, I have seen the waste and overreach of the department. Certain programs like IDEA require oversight and assistance, but most educational decisions are best made at the local level with state oversight.

Sexual education is best taught in the home. However, some parents are not comfortable with providing this instruction for their children. Sexual education in public schools should be abstinence only based and should include instruction in human anatomy/the reproductive system, and the stages of pregnancy and fetal development.

I absolutely agree with emphasizing academic achievement and building character as the hallmarks to preserve American traditions and self-government. As we graduate smart and good kids, we ensure that our republic will be in sound hands in coming generations.
School choice creates competition, and that competition will push public schools to improve their educational systems.

I don't necessarily agree that school choice creates competition. There are many choice schools that provide excellent education options, but there are just as many or more that are seeking to capitalize on the trend toward choice. In my experience, I do not see competition creating improvement in either traditional public schools or the other choice options.

Biological males should be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
