OTHER INFORMATION

Candidate responded to iVoterGuide Questionnaire in 2022.

On abortion:

  • Kari Lake opposes the ruling which bans abortion in Arizona and opposes a federal abortion ban.
  • Kari Lake expounds on her abortion position.  She would like more support for women in crisis pregnancies, opposes funding for abortion, opposes a federal ban on abortion, agrees that Roe was rightly overturned, wants choices for women, agrees with Trump on abortion exceptions (rape, incest and life of the mother), etc.  She also mentions economic hardships for women.

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Arizona Democrats have a measure on the November ballot legalizing unlimited abortion up to birth. I am pro-life, but unless voters unite to reject this extreme measure, no elected official will have any say on the issue going forward.

Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?

Abortion is an issue that is appropriately handled at the state level. No federal funding of abortion should be allowed.

ECONOMY

What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?

Retain and expand Trump tax cuts

iVoterGuide Notes:

From candidate's website: "The federal government is spending money it doesn’t have, papering over a now more than $1.5 trillion annual deficit by printing more of it. That’s what causes inflation, why Americans are struggling just to afford everyday necessities. Kari Lake will cut spending, reduce bureaucracy, and free American workers to grow our economy: because increasing our total economic output is the surest way to tame inflation now, and in the future."

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Strongly Agree

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The state may not establish a state-sponsored or preferred religion.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

iVoterGuide Notes:

At the American Leadership Forum, Lake said: "I'm absolutely opposed to SOGI (sexual orientation gender identity). Let’s just treat each other as human beings and stop with this nonsense that’s causing small businesses, bakers, florists, to have to pay millions, tens of millions in legal fees to try to keep their business running. It’s out of control. “ (51:50)

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

When there is an overriding public health concern, and a complete history of both RCT trials and real-world data supporting the efficacy and non-toxicity of a vaccine as, for example, with the Polio vaccine.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C - and limits on the types of plans available in the commercial market should be removed

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, Israel is our only true ally and the only democratic nation in the Middle East where all citizens have equal rights. Israel is additionally one of our most important trading and technological partners. It is essential we maintain strong ties both diplomatically and militarily with Israel, and support their efforts on the front lines against radical Islam.

What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?

Public perception and education that is teaching kids to reject America and American values, declining physical fitness of our population, and drug use.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Individuals who are ready and capable of contributing positively to U.S. society and economy, and who respect our laws by following the legal process and waiting in line for orderly admission.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

The government should not be involved in marriage. Marriage is more properly a realm of the churches and appropriately ordained individuals.

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am Christian

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT is racism

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Women's spaces and competition must be protected

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

We can all agree clean air is better than dirty air, clean water is better than dirty water, but the fight against CO2 is misplaced and has led to numerous expensive policy failures. The free market will provide solutions far better and faster than government mandates.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

We need an all of the above approach to energy because the fundamental issue is we need far more energy in the near future than we currently have.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
