QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Taxpayer funds should not be provided to abortion providers or to provide services and transportation for abortion procedures

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

I do not support the use of taxpayer funding to assist suicide or euthanasia procedures but do believe that the very serious and emotional end of life decisions should be left to the patient, their family, clergy and physician

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I personally do not believe that abortion procedures should ever take place due to the taking of a life and the long term emotional damage to the mother. The government can not legislate abortion away as it will take a cultural shift making abortions socially unacceptable along with increased support and alternative programs to support pregnant women in need. Adoption costs and regulations must be reduced so that secure and loving homes can be more easily provided.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Disagree

Redistribution of wealth is not a solution. Ending corporate subsidies and lobbyist written legislation that favors select businesses and organizations at the expense of fair competition will enable business and job growth. Data indicates that Opportunity Zones are not achieving the positive results projected in low income communities. States need to be encouraged to reduce licensing and regulatory requirements in these communities along with providing more practical skills training.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

Let's start with eliminating 87,000 new IRS agents, unnecessary and bloated federal departments working against the people such as the Department of Education, and reducing our military's global footprint while ensuring the strongest defense capabilities.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

The U.S. Tax Code is 6,871 pages. When you include the federal tax regulations and the official tax guidance, the number of pages raises to approximately 75,000. This will take an average reader about 14 weeks to finish. The IRS's actual expenditures were $13.7 billion for overall operations in Fiscal Year (FY) 2021. And still the wealthiest Americans get to take advantage of loopholes and advantages, in those 75,000 pages that most of us will never see. The current tax code needs to be abolished completely and replaced with a flat or fair tax program; better yet, with the income tax abolished a consumption based Value Added Tax could be implemented that, with making food and necessities non taxable, would ease the burden on lower income families and have wealthier Americans paying more based on their increased consumption of more expensive goods.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Freedom of Religion, as a basic right, always deserves full protection under the law. Religion, like so many of the institutions and traditions that bind us together as communities and as a nation are under attack by the federal government, its schools and the media and we have to rely on more than the law to protect these things. Our schools are in need of fundamental reform and the media working against us needs to be ridiculed, ignored and laughed out of business.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

There should be no federal laws requiring businesses or individuals to provide services, but businesses should have the right to require its employees to provide services to their customers and any employee taking a job that provides services that violate their beliefs should consider other employment. Businesses are also subject to their community standards as far as the services that they provide and if the community is unhappy with that business they have the option of withholding support.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

The church has every right to voice opinions regarding government policies and the government is bound by law to refrain from interfering with observance of religious doctrine by the church or its individual members. While I support freedom of religion without question, I am open to reviewing taxing church owned business properties unrelated to the religious functions of the church as any other business property would be taxed.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Government and any public institutions should have No Authority to mandate vaccinations or any other medical treatments as their power should be limited to warnings and recommendations. Private businesses have the right to mandate vaccines but should also be held responsible for any damages to employees as a result of those mandates. In addition, governments should be forbidden to use any coercive measures to influence businesses or any private institutions to enforce vaccine mandates.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. While my preference is for no taxpayer funded health care, the reality is that we have established a safety net that is relied on by millions of people and any elimination of those programs would require a very lengthy phasing out to protect those that would have no other options as well as developing basic health care solutions in the private sector that would provide for those that will inevitably fall through the cracks.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.. C) sounds nice as well until one considers what might qualify as imminent danger and to whom will bring us right back to justifying foreign intervention. The United States foreign intervention policies have failed us miserably, providing no stability and security while leaving behind destruction at an unacceptable cost in property, lives and taxpayer dollars. We should have the world's finest, best trained and equipped military making it attacking the United States an unthinkable option but we do not have the right to interfere globally.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

Again, it is not our governments role to interfere in foreign entanglements even, unfortunately, the ones we helped to create. This is an issue for the Israelis and Palestinians to settle and an issue that would have long since been resolved without foreign interference.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

The pandemic and its aftermath has shown quite clearly that we have far to much reliance on China and that the CCP is willing and able to withhold vital strategic materials and products from us if they feel it necessary. In response, our federal government has taken no real steps to counter these threats. Our pharmaceutical products are still largely produced in China as are countless products and materials we rely on to maintain our security and lifestyles

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

We should exit the region and allow them to function without our interference and without our dollars. We should enforce our immigration laws as well as our criminal statutes for immigrants guilty of violent crimes and deport them once they complete their sentences. Law enforcement should end any practice of "no go" zones and anyone that is specifically inciting actual acts of violence or providing support such as transportation, lodging, weapons, etc. to those directly causing destruction of property and violence should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

While legal immigration is, and always has been, vital to out nations growth and security, the current open border fiasco is the exact opposite. Legal immigration should be welcome and supported by businesses that need employees, by immigrant community networks assisting others getting established in the community, and by religious and non government support groups. Immigration should never be funded or supported by taxpayer dollars; it is both unnecessary and unconstitutional.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Absolutely, without question, 100%.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anybody that wants to be a part of the United States, that wants to raise their family in a world of freedom and liberty that they can pass on to their children. Anyone that believes in our Constitution and is willing to follow our laws and contribute to our society without being a burden on it. Anybody that does not have a criminal history of violence, mental illness or actions that would be a threat to Americans.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Sorry, but you lose me at gender identity. If you were born one gender but want to live as the other, have at it, I wish you a long and happy life. I will even address you as you request. I would probably even hire, train and promote you if you show up, do the job and get along with coworkers and customers.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

You are going to have to provide me a specific institution that is fundamentally racist, where people of color are unable to succeed if they show up and do the work, for me to entertain even discussing what I believe to be a racist theory. With millions of immigrants risking their lives to enter this country for its opportunities racism is not the issue.. But if you want to discuss the need for reforming urban educational & business opportunities I am 100% on board with solutions, not just talk

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised as a Roman Catholic but am now more a Deist beginning and ending each day with a prayer of thanks for the day, the world around me, and all that we have, as well as asking that others might spend more time appreciating the world around them and rejecting the dark divisive hateful elements surrounding us everyday. I believe in the goodness of most people, freed from the media and hateful rhetoric most people will step up when needed and be there for each other. I firmly believe that we are far more alike than different with most of us just working to get through the day and provide for our families, and with an opportunity and encouragement most of us can thrive , although some might take a few attempts it is worth providing them. I also believe that we have become far to complacent and need to wake up and take charge of our lives and communities. We have put far too much faith and trust in government, media and schools to act in our best interest and they have failed us. Now I ask my friends and neighbors to step up and take back our communities by any and all actions that you can manage. Run for office or school board, put out lawn signs or knock on doors, write letters to the editors or to your legislators, ignore, ridicule and laugh at media that is dividing and lying to us, question everything you hear from government and media, know your school board members and your kids teachers. GET INVOLVED, IT'S CONTAGIOUS

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

NO! It is not hard. Photo ID is required in too many instances of everyday life for this to even be an issue.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Election Day would be a national holiday with a $100 appreciation for every voter that makes it to their polling places to vote. There must be an adequate number of polling places and open hours to vote in every community. Congressional Districts should be smaller as the founders intended, and Congress capped in 1929 by resolution, so that representation can be more reflective of our communities. We should have more than double the representation that we have in our broken congress. This would also reduce the impact of gerrymandering and increase the Electoral College votes.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Opportunities should be expanded for our lower income communities. Starting with school choice and education dollars following the students choice of school, trade school or apprentice programs. With the elimination of the Dept of Education those federal education dollars should be used to retool our schools with books, computers, shop classes, and music classes along with focusing on math, science, and English. Occupational licenses and restrictions on small businesses need to be removed.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

NO! Media and politicians using racism as a weapon and a tool to divide and stoke fear is a threat to domestic security. If you take a harder look, income disparity is a much greater threat and it impacts people of all colors with reduced opportunities for success.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

Yes but I also insist on increased efforts to eliminate any negative impact on our ground water supply.

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

Define Stricter. We must become energy independent to provide the cheap and abundant energy to maintain our economy, security and lifestyle. But we must also be responsible in protecting our air and water. We can not prevent a new refinery from operating because a particular salamander would need to relocate but we can prevent it if poses a risk to a water supply and wildlife. The bottom line is that we must rely on existing sources of energy until the day that renewable resources become as reliable and as cheap as traditional sources. No, that does not mean raise the prices and reduce availability of traditional energy sources to make renewables competitive

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

Traditional and Anti Authoritarian. The old conservative and liberal definitions have become meaningless as politicians and media define them on shifting scales

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

I have an upcoming interview with Steve Carmody at Michigan Radio (NPR) where at least two other candidates for this office will be interviewed. The questions asked were fair and unbiased; we'll see how the editing works out.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

NO

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

Fixing a very broken Congress will be Job 1 but a long term a necessary project. My top three as stated will be The Economy, Education and Energy policies, I will also push to repeal any and all regulation and restrictions on business and individuals that were not authorized by Congress as required. The beaucrats of the Executive Branch do not have Constitutional authority to impose law

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

But in turn stronger measures are needed to restore the protect and serve mindset to police departments and to hire and train officers more effectively. Departments must get more proactive in reassigning or removing officers that are not equipped to make the right split second judgment decisions when needed. Generating revenue and property confiscation without conviction of a crime are priorities that need to be abandoned.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

No, Authorize mental health and community programs separately as need without jeopardizing the safety of the community

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

It should remain illegal to shoot anybody other than in self defense or to protect others from immanent attack

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

No, these are legally manufactured products protected by the 2nd Amendment and this is just another attempt to restrict gun ownership
