QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Elective abortions should only be in cases of medically documented health concerns of the mother and in cases of rape and incest. Even that is problematic, as in no state is rape or incest a capital crime, and perhaps it should be. We must realize that with this exception also comes the reality that an unborn child will pay with its life for the sins of another or that we force the mother to live with the horror forced upon her without her consent. In short, there are no easy answers here.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
These are powerful medications oftentimes used as part of a rape treatment protocol. They should be dispensed in conjunction with proper medical and psychological pre- and post-dispensing follow-on care for the health and safety of the patient. More importantly, these medications should never be degraded to an OTC (over-the-counter) medication, and in the process leaving out the equally important human element and compassion of the healthcare equation.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Their state and federally provided funding should be cut if for no other reason than Planned Parenthood is commercializing the Mengele-like, barbaric practice of harvesting and selling the tissue and body parts of unborn children. On a particular note, many of these body parts must come from “live” unborn children, thus requiring late-term abortions, not for medical or commercial reasons
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
The sad cases of Terri Schiavo and others bring to the fore the issue of the right to live with dignity. With rare executions, these cases should be left in the hands of the family and not the government, as we are not the property of the state. Within this narrow path, we as the governed, guided by our faith and the government, guided by the law, must find the guard rails of this question. It is critical we elect leaders who are cognizant of the guardrails and can steer a path between them.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Locke's phrase of "life, liberty, and estate" describes the cornerstone of American liberty. Here “Estate” is more than a home, but our God-given right to own and control our possessions, earned by the fruits of our labors. We are not the possession of the state. We have been granted by God the right to be the artisans of our destiny. The hollow promise of Klaus Schwab, that "you'll own nothing and be happy," is little more than an invitation to accept slavery, for only free people own things.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Let the market and not the state set the values of goods and services. When winners and losers are created, it upsets the natural balance of an economy and inevitably causes adverse downstream effects. In this case it is prices workers out of a job
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
When the state puts its thumb on the scale through chicanery such as ESG, it upsets the natural balance of an economy and inevitably causes adverse downstream effects. A free economy is constantly balancing countless points of an economy based on the essential, time-tested adage that supply and demand determine the price. An economy out of balance always degenerates to higher prices and scarcities.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None. Such a move is a violation of the First Amendment. More to the point, our right to freely worship (or not) as we see as correct is solely determined by ourselves and not the state or sovereign. Said right is binary. Either we all have it equally, or we are all one step away from losing it. Our tolerance of those of other faiths must be equal to the tolerance we expect of our beliefs. Anything less is the beginning of the erosion of this and all our God-given rights and civil liberties.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Since Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptists, the left likes to speak of our Constitution's immutable separation between church and state. In making such a law, this is what we violate. Forcing a person to act contrary to their closely held religious belief to fit within the mandates of the state creates a different credo, which, when applied and enforced under the color of law, becomes a quasi-state religion. This is what the Framers were against when they drafted the 1st Amendment.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
My answer is "C". Under the progressive leadership of FDR and LBJ, a quasi-socialist behemoth has become an indelible part of the nation's institutional fabric in the form of Social Security and Medicare. Public healthcare has become the largest percentage of the federal budget and the section least controllable. But any foolish plans to expand this and take the entire nation into a similar form of national, cradle-to-grave “Medicare for all” scheme will bankrupt our nation, hard stop.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
In very limited cases, when the patient risk of a pathogen is overwhelmingly outweighed by the risk the vaccine may present. Additionally, all religious exemptions must be honored unquestionably and without repercussion to the requestor.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
China’s intent to be a world hegemon is no different than that of the Shang dynasty of 1600 to 1046 BC. Their leaders, both then and now, constantly sought to dominate their known world. For the Shang, this was the Yellow River valley; the PRC of today sees the globe as their rightful domain. We need to act knowing that their quest for dominance is far more cultural than political. They see this destiny as the rightful order of things for over 3,000 years before the birth of Marx or Mao.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes, very much so! From a strategic standpoint, Israel is a beacon of democratic stability in this turbulent region and one of our most reliable allies. As a world hegemon with an economy inexorably tied to petroleum, it is imperative that we maintain a foothold in this volatile region. Going back to the "great game" geopolitics of the British and Russian Empires, control of the Levant--if not dominance--remains vital to maintain East-West trade and diplomatic relationships.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
At its most elemental level, sovereignty is defined by establishing and securing nation-state borders. The concept was first established under the Peace of Westphalia, which created the modern concept of a nation-state and was further refined and enumerated in the 1933 Montevideo Conventions. In short, a country without secure borders is really not a country.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
Yes, without question or reservation, the money must always follow the student. We pay taxes to educate our children, not to create a parallel form of government, which our school districts have become. As your state representative, I will measure every educational legislation with a two-part test: 1. Parents are the first and most important teacher every child will ever have, and 2. Parents must always have the last word.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
It there is but one unequivocal answer in this questionnaire, it is a sounding YES to this question.
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Parents should have the legal right and moral obligation to make all decisions for their minor children and are under no obligation to co-parent with the state.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
How many times can I write “hell no!” in this box?
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
As ordained by our Creator. "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Matt 19:6
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised in a Christian home and have been a practicing Catholic my entire life, active and engaged in my parish community. My faith gives me a moral and ethical yardstick to measure and govern my actions. That said, we all need to pick up and use that yardstick more often. Our faith gives each of us a moral and ethical yardstick to measure and governm our actions. That said, it up to use to pick up and use that yardstick.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
We cannot drive a car, cash a check, enter a government building, buy an alcoholic drink, or even borrow a book from the local library without proper identification. All these privileges pale to insignificance to the one purchased at a great price for every citizen; the sacred right to vote. For those wondering where the receipts are for this purchase, I invite you to visit Arlington. The receipts are engraved on the headstones.
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
Doing so would be an egregious violation of the U.S. Constitution and would tear the very fabric our federal republic. The Framers created a republic and not a democracy; as they knew historically, democracies fail when the people learn they can vote themselves bennies. If we revert to this National Public Vote scheme, about seven to nine COUNTIES will determine our chief executive.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Tribalism is an inherent part of human nature. It is only through education and social contact, most of us have been able to see each other as not as more than Black or White, but it remains a work in progress for all of us. That said, hate and fear (and racism is a mixture of both) are not part of anyone's DNA. It is taught, and it is fostered. We must remember that centuries from now, when they find our bones, they will not be able to tell the color of our skin.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
As a subset of Critical Theory, CRT is little more than a form of Cultural Marxism. In his book “Color, Communism, and Common Sense," Manning Johnson, the highest-ranking Black in the US Communist Party, wrote of the USSR’s program, identical to today's BLM, designed to tear the social fabric of our Republic through a race war. When he realized that the plan was to use Blacks as sacrificial cannon fodder, he left the CPUSA and spent the rest of his life decrying the evils of Marxism.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
For the past five years, we have been told by the hard left to '"follow the science," but yet, in this issue, is doing so now wrong? It's simple, actually. XX does not equal XY, no matter what you cut off or add, or how someone dresses. "Trans women" are NOT women, and men CANNOT have babies…just follow the science, not the political rhetoric.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
C is the most correct answer. Please note that as of July of this year, I am the only candidate in Florida, or either party, which has gone on record, saying that when elected, the first piece of legislation I will propose is to sunset incineration as a means of disposing our municipal solid waste. If our kids and our natural resources are Florida’s greatest treasures, why then are we burning our trash next to our treasures? So I say, let’s not.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Various sources must be employed as every part of the world has different resources and needs To try To try to shoehorn a "one size fits all" through government fiat is doomed to failure The most powerful agent we have for change is the free market
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The Framers answered this question well. Starting with the writings of Locke & Rousseau and guided by the Social Contract Theory, they wrote that the sole purpose of government is to protect the people from outside threats (military, secure borders, proper immigration policy), internal threats (law & order), establishing free & fair trade (stable currency, equal weights & measures, open trade) and allowing the free expression & worship of the people. All this is found in the U.S. Constitution.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Conservative with a strong libertarian bent. As Jefferson said, "if it does not break my bones or pick my pocket, what business is it of mine?"
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Law and order and social services are two separate and discrete functions of civil governance. To conflate one with the other is foolhardy and dangerous. We can see in following the news that every single city or state that has tried this wild social experiment has seen its level of crime and violence rise while its level of social services drops. These results are the most visible in our poor and marginalized communities, the very ones these harebrained ideas were supposed to help.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
To start, "shall not be infringed" covers this question nicely. More to the point, it is not by accident that the Framers placed the Second Amendment right after the First Amendment to ensure that the citizens of this republic they were creating would have the means to protect and defend themselves from the capriciousness of a tyrannical government. The enemy they were concerned about was not an external one but rather the growth of an internal one.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
No
It is not the place of teachers, as this is a knee-jerk response. More funding for mental health counselors and real action by the schools to fight bullying is a better start. Most school shootings happen before or after class and in the yards and athletic fields rather than in the buildings. This could be an excellent place to start in each school's safety and security evaluation. Increasing police presence during these times is more effective, but our focus must start with mental health.
