QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
We must value and protect life and the potential for life. Abortion should not be used as a form of birth control. Women's Health Services are important; Dilation and curettage (D&C) must be permissible by law in the event of miscarriage or stil-birth. An elective abortion should only be permissible in the event of a developmental diagnosis of the baby or if the Mother would die from continuing to carry.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
This is a double-edge sword. I believe an individual with a terminal illness should be permitted and protected by law to request medically induced death. Physicians providing these services would have guidelines on when this is permitted and the process to record consent. We do NOT want to become like Canada that offers 'aid in dying' to their Veterans that just need assistance. The State can not be the the decider on when an individual uses these services.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What is your position on the minimum wage?
A necessary evil. Inflation has devalued the US Dollar and the rise in interest rates has caused housing costs to skyrocket. Cost of living is increasing at a rapid pace and wages are not keeping up while companies are making record profits.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
Ban ESG (environmental, social, and governance). ESG are metrics used to control business and community growth. ESG will stifle American Agriculture by denying loans to farmers as they will be penalized for use diesel tractors and raising animals that produce methane. A majority of farmers come from conservative backgrounds and would have to silence themselves on Social Media in order to keep their farms running; a direct violation of their First Amendment Right to Free Speech.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Never. If the covid years taught us anything, it is that we must never allow Government to coerce us into shutting down our places of worship. We must protect religious institutions by standing up for our Right to Religion. I intend to support legislation that separates the Ohio Department of Health from the CDC and NIH. A more localized approach will allow our trusted physicians to make better decisions without outside influence.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
Businesses exist to make money; Turning away customers doesn't make good business sense. The business owner should have that right to stand behind their morals; A business has a right to refuse service.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
D. We need to work on a private solution that replaces Medicare and Medicaid. Government funded Healthcare is a socialist concept that we have all grown to accept. The Federal Government should pay back what each individual has paid into the system so it can be rolled in to a private program controlled by the individual.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Never. Vaccination should be decided by the individual. These requirements are a violation of personal liberty.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
While I agree with this, our Nations biggest threat is Federal deficit spending and a skyrocketing National Debt. This debt causes inflation which devalues the buying power of the US Dollar. The moment Americans no longer become the mass consumers of world products and more Chinese citizens become consumers is the moment US will no longer have any global power.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
It is imperative that we maintain a diplomatic relationship with Israel. American weapons manufacturers should still be permitted to sell to Israel. US tax dollars or debt should not be used to assist in foreign intervention; National Debt has reached the tipping point. The interest on the debt now exceeds what we spend on defense. On top of this, the Defense Department has failed its last six audits and cannot account for three trillion dollars [Thats $306,000 per US tax payer unaccounted for]
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Agree
This is required by Article 4, Section 4 of the US Constitution. Not securing the border is costing us even more; Busing and flying migrants around the country and housing them is a National Crisis that is putting us further into debt. New laws are permitting migrants to become police officers while New ATF rules allow them to legally own firearms and some to avoid background checks.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Agree
I support 'backpack' legislation where education tax dollars follow the student. If a school system isn't providing adequate education or is wasting funds, parents should be able to pull their children out. The loss of funding hold school systems accountable; they would be forced to do better. This would also provide funding for more homeschooling where material costs fall on the family.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Agree
It is up to us as parents and members of the community to protect our children. Gender ideology promotes a form of body dysmorphia disorder (BDD), a mental illness. Anorexia and Bulimia are also forms of BDD. If we fail to define it as such, we fail to treat it. A medical community that accepts performing gender mutilation is perpetuating the problem as opposed to identifying a solution. Children, especially during adolescence, should NOT be permitted to undergo Gender Reassignment Surgery.
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Agree
Unless emancipated, parents get to decide how to protect their children. It is imperative that parents have open conversations with their children in order to understand them. It is also important that parents ignore the LGBTQ+ agenda to push for gender mutilation and discuss seeking treatment for BDD. Gays Against Groomers is an organization designed to protect children from these forced societal ideals.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Never. I cannot think of a single instance where taxpayer funds should be used to provide these services.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Neutral
Marriage is a spiritual contract. the legal union used by Government for taxation holds no bearing on the sanctity of marriage. The purpose of marriage is to have a companion to celebrate life accomplishments and share in life's challenges; Marriage is about building a family and perpetuating good, moral people to participate in our society.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised Christian, baptized Catholic and later non-denominational. The family my wife and I built is secular. I carry many of the values from my upbringing; I remain open to discuss spiritual beliefs from other cultures and communities. I appreciate people of immense faith and believe in defending everyone's Right to worship.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
It proved difficult working at a gas station trying to card a young Amish man for tobacco products or alcoholic beverages when there was no picture on the ID presented. We require a photo ID but it was against their religion to have their photo taken. There was no way to tell if this indeed was their ID or their olde sibling. I agree with the requirement of photo ID for voting but feel there must be consideration and a plan for members of our community like Amish that have a religious objection
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
The electoral College protects smaller populated States by ensuring they get a voice. Rural communities are the firewall protecting us from socialism (which leads to communism). The notion that "land does not vote" is a fallacy argument used to persuade us to adopt NPVIC. It doesn't make sense for smaller states like MA, CT, VT, NJ, and RI to adopt NPVIC. NPVIC is an attempt to get the unelectable elected. Electoral college is adequate.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes and No. It depends on how you define racism. The notion of Equity and even Affirmative Action are racist by nature as they call attention to race. Over the last three years, more Black Americans became registered gun owners than any other race. That's great! The more trained, responsible gun owners the better. Fighting racism is simple, don't marginalize someone based on race. This is easier said than done as race is used to promote victim mentality that perpetuates political divide.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
CRT promotes a victim mentality and marginalizes some races over others while placing blame on one race over another; marginalizing people by race is inherently racist.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
I will support legislation like Ohio House Bill 68 (SAFE Act) that prevents Biological males from participating in women's sports as well as protects adolescents/minors from gender reassignment surgery during the peak of their development.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
C. but even the US EPA and Ohio EPA fail our communities at times. I will work to localize environmental decisions by empowering County, Municipal, and Townships to decide what is permissible in their communities. Coshocton County, and other Appalachia communities have become dumping grounds for potentially hazardous waste.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Hydrogen. Hydrogen will become the new booming energy source, not unlike natural gas production throughout Ohio, West Virgina, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Texas. Investment money for Hydrogen is there but mass infrastructure will be needed.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Government exists to uphold common law so society can function unencumbered by killers, rapists, and thieves. Government must remain limited, thus limiting taxation and regulation. Regulation must only be used to protect the people and not one industry or business over the other. Too much regulation expands Government which requires more taxation. Frederic Bastiat states it best in his book The Law, "taxation is legal plunder."
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
I lean conservative. I am much more of an individualist than a statists or globalist. I believe it is our responsibility as individuals to serve and protect one another and to do what is right for our community.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Neutral
Recruitment and retaining officers is becoming increasingly difficult. Reallocation of funds would increase this difficulty. I do not believe in the Militarization of peace officers. There have been successful de-escalation efforts where a social worker and parametic are sent on domestic runs. Programs like this could be a great addition to law enforcement.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None. Responsible gun ownership is the best way to promote public safety. Responsible gun ownership protects from public attacks. I support legislation like Ohio HB51 the Second Amendment Preservation Act. I believe in repealing existing Gun Control Acts and ending the ATF.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
Teachers that are comfortable with firearms in schools should be trained and have access to a firearm in the event of an emergency. It is unfortunate that this added layer of protection is necessary.
