Michigan should raise the floor of all retirement payments before any income tax to benefit all retirees regardless of source of retirement income, many pensioners would never have to pay income tax. The state income tax should be lowered to the promised 3.9%.

By law, Michigan state budget must be balanced and it should not be balanced with bond debt. Budgets should start each year at zero and all spending must be justified.

There is NO circumstance that government can stop church services. Church boards and congregations can make their own decisions.

B. There are local medical services (e.g., Genesee Health Plan) that ensure single parents remain healthy to attend work and their children remain healthy and remain in school. Keeping the single parent working without spreading illness in the workplace or missing work to care for sick children. This is not necessarily needed in all communities and should be provided by a vote of the people..

The federal government has no standing in issuing any vaccine mandates, the Supreme Court has made it clear that health and safety decisions are for state legislatures and not the courts. In Michigan this has been given over to public health officials to promulgate rules and regulations, this must have oversight by the legislature. Local school boards and not a state board should determine their health and safety needs. A private business owner must weigh the health and safety of his workers and customers and determine what impact the decision will have on employee or customer loyalty and the financial need of the business.

First, contain the threat from reaching US soil, intelligence, support to friendly nations being internally threatened, and use of military force in defense of US interests. Secondly, prevent home-grown terrorists by teaching civics and founding documents at all grade levels--how and why we can tolerate freedom of religion based on Nature's Law. Another significant action--secure our borders!!!

The needs of society has always dictated the areas of employment, specialties and education that lack enough US citizens to fill and require supplementing filling those needs with immigrants who wish to assimilate and become US citizens (short-term needs with temporary visas not withstanding). Clear political asylum needs to be investigated, refugees from war and famine should be cared for and aided as near to their homeland as possible to be able to return. The interest of illegal immigrants providing cheap labor at the expense of Michigan workers will not be tolerated.

Michigan was recently ranked 32nd in the nation for reading skills and forecast to drop to 39th by 2030 with current trends. We must have an education system that produces the workforce and college-ready students that our economic future depends on--competition to produce those students seems to be our best choice.

Rep. Martin, Michigan House approve bipartisan election reforms RELEASE|March 9, 2021 Measures clean up state’s voter rolls, improve efficiency of local elections State Rep. David Martin today voted to help improve Michigan’s elections system through a series of bipartisan reforms. The measures approved by the Michigan House would remove outdated and uncertain information from the state’s qualified voter files, improve the absentee ballot counting process, and hold local clerks accountable if they have not completed required training. “These are common-sense reforms that won bipartisan support because they will help our elections run more smoothly, improve integrity and add accountability,” said Martin, of Davison. “This isn’t a partisan issue – it’s the right thing to do to make our system more secure and make sure the public will have confidence in future elections.” An audit of the state’s Bureau of Elections released in December 2019 highlighted the need for better procedures to remove or update information for voters with birthdates that indicate they are 120 years old. Outdated information in the state’s qualified voter file then caused problems last year when the Secretary of State mailed absent voter applications to all voters in the file and numerous households reported receiving applications for people who have been deceased for years. The plan approved by the House would set up a procedure to update or remove records in the qualified voter file if an individual hasn’t voted since the 2000 November general election or if the individual has a placeholder – or unspecified – date of birth. “Keeping a person’s name on our voter rolls long after they pass away or move out of state is a bad practice, plain and simple,” Martin said. “We’re taking action to clean up the list while making sure each and every eligible voter continues to have their voice heard.” Other measures approved by the House would: Allow a city or township to expand the size of its election precincts to account for the drop-off in the number of people voting in person. Current law limits election precincts to 2,999 registered voters. The new reforms would allow precincts to contain up to 5,000 registered voters, freeing up more equipment and staff to process absentee ballots. Require any city or township with more than one precinct to establish an absent voter counting board. Require the Secretary of State to publish a list on its website of local clerks who are not up to date with their required continuing education or training. Adjust due dates and deadlines for reviewing certain types of campaign finance statements and lobby reports, providing Bureau of Election employees a reasonable amount of time to review the documents by the deadline in state law. The bipartisan plan – contained in House Bills 4127-31 and House Bills 4134-35 – now advances to the Senate for further consideration. REMOVE 3rd Party private funding of election offices!

Purveyors of hate and driving wedges to destabilize our communities are the threat. We must get government out of the way and return hope to urban minorities and "underserved" communities to revive the rapid upward middleclass mobility experienced in the 1950's-mid-1960's. Our society as a whole needs to respect the Brookings Institution's proven formula of graduating, getting a job, getting married and then having children--in that order--as the path to financial security.
