OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Never. Only God gets to play God. We should make every effort to save every life and leave the outcome to our Creator.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

I do not believe that the SS Admin is sustainable into the future. We need to keep our promises made to those already receiving benefits, and to those who have been paying into the system for years. This being said, the government must stop promising more and more. The government must begin to taper back promises and programs which encourage dependence on government assistance.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Entitlements which enable lifetime dependence on the government and do not seek to help people become independent. Agencies which are ineffective and/or obsolete. This "fourth branch of government" must be scaled back considerably. Government employee pensions in the future. We need to keep promises already made and promise less in the future. A cap on benefits would be a nice starting point.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

None.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

"Freedom of religion" is not to be misconstrued as "freedom from religion." The idea of the Founders clearly meant that the Government would not impose a "State religion" on the people. When equal treatment under the law is given to religious groups, the government is practicing "freedom of religion." Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values. Prayer, Bible-reading, etc. are always "voluntary" vs "compulsory." It is not a contradiction for leaders to exercise their religious liberties in the public arena. Every American can choose whether to participate or reject. We have the freedom to be overtly "spiritual" or practice paganism. The freedom of choice does not mean our choice leads to freedom. All "paths" are legal, but not all paths are best. We The People decide.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

One way to achieve this is by allowing/encouraging intrastate competition amongst the insurance providers. We also need to limit/reduce the government involvement in directly providing health insurance. Deregulation could definitely allow the market to succeed more. We cannot and should not convey to American citizens that the government can or should provide everything needed to live a life that is safe, healthy and secure from all possible contingencies. We The People must be able to live lives that provide for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The government has a role, not a rule, in our lives.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Encourage NGO participation in educating the public on the particulars of Islam. Enforce the Law of the Land at any cost. Respect for our laws can never be widespread unless breaking our laws comes with accountability.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Because our nation is only as great as the people who make up our nation, we should primarily allow those who will be good for America. This would exclude know criminals, people with terrorist connections, and others who would become an undue burden to society. This would not include refugees or asylum-seekers. If an individual cannot be properly vetted, entrance should be denied in cases where safety is not a concern. Americans should decide who comes in and under what circumstances. But there are a few dozen legitimate reasons for immigrating to the US, and wisdom mixed with discernment must not be abandoned.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

There is a short list of beliefs which I hold to without wavering: There is One God, revealed in Jesus Christ. God is the Creator and all people have equal worth as humans. Jesus Christ is the most Authentic Human ever to walk upon the earth. Jesus Christ is the Savior of all, especially those who believe in Him. Thoughts, words and/or actions which conflict with God's will are wrong. My values include: Honesty...we should always tell the truth, or keep silent Integrity...we should be the same in private and in public, i.e. good Transparency...we should be as open as the context and/or law allows/demands Passion...we should use our passion to build bridges, not burn bridges

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Anyone can visit my website: jayesun4uscongress.com and read about my life, experiences and stances on different issues. I trust that my life of moderation and actions in moderation speak for themselves. There have been a number of inspirational and opinion-based opeds I have written for a variety of newspapers, including Cottonwood County Citizen.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a true conservative who is willing to work with people to ensure that freedom continues to reign in this country, the greatest nation on earth! I have different experience that enables me to bring a freshness into the US Congress. My character, experience, training and passion have been forged over the decades with the help of countless people. It is upon their shoulders I stand ready to serve the great people of MN07!!

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Basically, none. Obviously, insane persons or violent criminals are not included. So-called "Red Flag Laws" are problematic and are better-sounding than rationally defended. Infringement on privacy and the Right to Bear Arms must be protected.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

ProLife: From Conception to Committal...legislation which furthers restrictions on abortion and/or completely bans abortion will be my focus. Agriculture: Taking a deeper look at the Farm Bill, seeking new markets for products/commodities, and making sure we help those who truly need it while ensuring all else do not remain dependent on the government will be in focus. Immigration: Legislation which closes loopholes in our immigration policy will be important. Also, we need to promote more legislation which employs common sense and flexibility.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No. We do not have so-called "systemic racism" in America. The stats and the testimony of many professionals do not support this notion. We have a few challenges before us: black-on-black violent crime, single-parent (fatherless) homes, sensationalizing of crimes committed against minorities, and the extreme bias of the liberal media create a faux crisis. Racism exists in the hearts of some people, but the vast majority of Americans believe the various "shades of brown" have nothing to do with human worth and dignity. Committing a crime is a choice. Thankfully, most Americans do not want to commit a crime and do not commit crimes against our fellow Americans. When racism rears its ugly head, we deal with it quickly and decisively.
