QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
None In a medical emergency where the mother's life is in imminent danger, you must triage. For instance, in the case of an ectopic pregnancy where there is no other option to save the mother I wouldn't consider it to be an abortion. You must evaluate the situation and take the necessary action to save at least one life. This would be a case of medical triage between the child and the mother, not abortion. I also believe that we must stop regulating abortion, and completely eliminate it. I believe we are at a point in our culture in Oklahoma where we can do that. Medical science has progressed enough where it is not just a Christian stance that the child is a human life, and many Oklahomans are aware of that.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
All areas of the budget need to be inspected, and excess gleaned from the budget. In areas where the church and private sector can replace state services, it must be done.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Thomas Jefferson coined the term in a letter to the Danbury Baptists who were concerned that they would be discriminated against, saying, "the legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church and State." He meant there is a one-way wall of separation. The state can't interfere with the church, but the church can, and must have influence on the state. Calvin Coolidge said our founding fathers were, "a people who came under the influence of a great spiritual development and acquired a great moral power. The things of the spirit come first. If we are to maintain the great heritage which has been bequeathed to us, we must be like-minded as the fathers who created it. We must follow the spiritual and moral leadership which they showed. We must keep replenished, that they may glow with a more compelling flame, the altar fires before which they worshipped."
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Allow Oklahomans to buy insurance from out of state to break up the monopolies of the state insurance companies.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The cream of the crop. We should allow those who have the skill sets that we need in our country to advance our society. Doctors, Engineers, and other hardworking people who admire our country and want to be a part of our culture. We should enforce the immigration laws already on the books.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe the Bible is God's inerrant Word. There is One God in three persons, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose again on the third day. I have repented and accepted Jesus as my personal savior, placing my trust in His sacrifice on the cross for my own sins. All decisions, and values politically must be in line with God's word. 2 Tim 3:16 says: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Here is a letter to the editor I wrote concerning a bill that would have eliminated abortion in Oklahoma. It later died in the Senate. https://www.stwnewspress.com/opinion/letters-speaking-up-for-those-who-cannot/article_3cf32ec6-3eec-11ea-847e-7f2ae3b1cce0.html
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
BS in Political Science BFA in Studio Art 6 years in the army. (4 active, 2 reserves) 1.5 years as a high school teacher 5 years at an oil company
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
My dad is a pastor, and my parents instilled in me the values and ideals of a biblical worldview. After going to OSU for political science, I joined the army as a chaplain assistant, in order to serve God and Country simultaneously. I met my wife in the army, went to Taji, Iraq in the 1st Cav, and married when I returned. We have 4 children. I spent 4 years active, 2 in the reserves finishing my service in the army. Then I went back to OSU for a BFA in Studio Art and taught Highschool art. I taught for 1 1/2 years before moving back to Stillwater and getting a job as an operator at Plains All American Pipeline. I have noticed that a number of liberal decisions have come from our representation here in Payne County, and decided that now is the time to throw my lot in. I believe that our district is filled with right-minded, hard-working Oklahomans who deserve solid conservative representation in our state government. I would like to offer you my services if you will offer me your vote.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Don't let felons have guns, we already have restrictions on that. I don't think we need more restrictions.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1) Statewide day of prayer and fasting - Turning back to God is more important than anything else. We are powerless to do anything good without His power anyway. 2) The elimination of abortion 3) School Choice (ie. expand tax credit scholarships to all, not just low-income families, and increase the tax credit from 50% to 100%)
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Not in Oklahoma. We Okies are too level headed for that nonsense. I don't worry about mobs burning down the Quik Trips in Tulsa as they did in Furguson. The left and the media did their best to stir up unrest in Ferguson, I think Oklahomans are too reasonable to listen and follow their lies. We are not sheep. In fact, we Oklahomans are intentionally coming to terms with the Tulsa race massacre of 1921. Is racism alive in Oklahoma? Yes, and it always will be as long as people's hearts remain unchanged. But it is not a threat to domestic security because I believe Oklahomans are capable of sitting down and talking about tough issues.
