QUESTIONNAIRE*
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only in the event of rape, incest or the life hazard of the mother or child, but not as a means of easily available birth control.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Since I would be serving over the WV Dept of Ag, I would cut spending over the excessive travel budget as well as stopping the plans to spend over $40 Million to upgrade testing labs. This function can be made up by private labs which would support private jobs. We could use limited personnel to oversee the labs to maintain a high standard.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
As stated above, the government is established on the foundation of common ethics as found in religion. However, no religious institution should have any influence of establishing law or executing judgement over the public. Conversely, no institution of government should have any influence over an establishment of religion, that includes even during times of crisis, such as being done to restrict church services or restrict seating in a church.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I would not do so. First, as Ag Commissioner, I would not have any influence in that area. Second, I believe it is not the role of government to provide healthcare coverage. If I had any influence at all, I would promote to eliminate the governments role in health insurance and facilitate competition in the marketplace where a free market might find solutions.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Those who legally petition the US through the immigration service and follow all US laws. They should not be a burden on the economy or take from the American people.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God as our Creator and the teachings of Christ. I respect other religions and the peoples right to practice as they choose without interference from other people, organizations or government. I believe in religion as the basis of ethics, which should guide us all, however, no particular religion should be the basis of influencing government, nor should government have ANY INFLUENCE over any religious institution or the free practice thereof. No law or governors orders, should in any way restrict how churches meet, even in a crisis.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I recently attended the ReOpen WV event on April 27, 2020 in defense of individual rights to choose for yourself what actions to take. I have been very outspoken in defending any individuals choices as long as they don't harm another person. I promoted legalizing raw milk to allow that product to be made legal for any consumer who wished to procure it and for producers to sell. I have a huge social media presence promoting total freedom of arms in support of the 2nd Amendment.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I grew up working a small farm raising hogs and corn. In the past 12 years, I have operated my own regenerative small family farm in Cabell County, raising pastured broilers, pastured pork and pastured eggs. I practice in the style of Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms. I have earned 2 Permaculture Design Certificates from Geoff Lawton of Permaculture Research Institute and Jack Spirko of PermaEthos. I am a lifelong learner and have developed many methods, procedures and equipment for our farm. I have served as a leader in the Army for over 31 years, including establishing and commanding a school for 3 years, teaching at the collegiate level for 3 years, conducting Quality Assurance for 5 years, developing training courses for 8 years and many others. I have operated 3 businesses including a farm and construction company.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I plan to severely cut the onerous regulations in the dept which suppresses small local farms in favor of large industrial farms. Also, I will pursue changing legislation which affects the same. Additionally, I would promote education in agriculture by converting the state farms to Demonstration Farms to teach various aspects of regenerative agriculture. In order to support regenerating the environment, I will establish a policy to not use harmful chemical herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The 2nd Amendment says everything regarding restrictions. "... shall not be infringed." That means no restrictions are necessary or constitutional. The only law regarding arms which would be constitutional, would be one which repeals other restrictive gun laws.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Agree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Legalize raw milk. Pass the PRIME Act at the federal level and take up a comparative state bill. Legalize marijuana and consolidate all cannabis programs under the WVDA.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism itself, where present, is a threat to individual freedom and should not be tolerated. Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.
