RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I find almost no scenario where taking the life of an unborn baby is justified. From a legislative perspective, and as an interim step until public opinion ultimately and hopefully coalesces around the fact that there should be no abortion, I would support legislation that prohibited abortion in all cases except in cases of rape, incest, and where the mother's life would be in certain jeopardy by delivering the baby.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?
I will stand up for voiceless pre-born babies. There is no bigger social issue than protecting innocent life. I will sponsor legislation to end abortion past a discernable heartbeat.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?
Yes
Additionally, I would require that the mother be informed about alternatives, including the abortion pill reversal.
ECONOMY
The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.

It is not the government's role to pick winners and losers. Their role, as it relates to this, is to provide a level playing field.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Tax rates, personal and business, should continue to be lowered.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Agree
We should continue to provide public education for K-12 (in addition to non-public options). Our state's constitution requires the state to provide a quality and affordable college education, which the UNC system does with substantial tax-payer dollars. I agree with this requirement.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

If the First Amendment means anything, there are none.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The state should not be involved in the church.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C. The private sector, if allowed to truly work (price transparency, insurance companies truly competing, HSA's, etc) would provide better healthcare at a lower price. Having said that, there should always be a safety net for those who are unable to afford healthcare. There isn't a magic wand where you can start from scratch and put in a perfect system, so you would need to work within the Medicaid and Medicare platforms for the safety net.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I do not believe in vaccinations being required. We've always had a right to opt out and I believe that is the right way to proceed.
EDUCATION
States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.

There are no such situations.

VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Non-discrimination laws are in place to prevent discrimination of people for immutable characteristics - race, color, birth gender, etc. To include things like gender identity, which by there very nature are changeable, would potentially weaponize existing and necessary discrimination laws.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. I believe that we are all sinners in need of a Savior. I believe that God sent his son Jesus to this earth to be that Savior and that Jesus willingly died on the cross as the payment for our sins. I believe that through our faith and His grace that we can be saved and spend eternity in fellowship with God. My values follow from my faith. I believe that all people are made in the image of God and deserve dignity and respect. I believe that we should treat each other as we want to be treated, that we should love God and love each other. I believe in hard work. I believe there is no shame in work, no matter the job. I believe in personal responsibility. I believe we shouldn't look to the government to solve all of our problems, particularly ones where our poor choices have led to poor outcomes.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.

This is so common sense that it's amazing that it's an issue. This is a bipartisan issue. It was on the ballot as a constitutional amendment and passed by a large margin.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Since we still don't have voter ID implemented yet, I'd do whatever possible to make that happen first. I would also ensure that there were no large-scale mail-in ballot elections again. There should be no unsolicited ballots mailed out. There should be signature matching for absentee ballots. And no ballot harvesting.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
While racism is not completely defeated, it largely is. The larger threat to domestic security is when race is used to incite violence. See the summer of 2020 for evidence. When groups like Antifa and BLM realized how much money they could raise, and how much crime they could commit, and still be the darlings of the left/press, that's when domestic security was in jeopardy.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. This really depends on what is meant by environment. If it is pollution, I'm for adequate regulations that will stop the polluters. If by environment you mean "climate change", the climate has changed every day since the beginning of the world and I would not support any regulations that are in theory intended to stop the climate from changing. The fear mongering of Al Gore and his ilk has never materialized. President Obama moved to Martha's Vineyard, essentially 0' above sea level. CNN moved their headquarters from Atlanta to Manhattan, essentially 0' above sea level. These people don't believe our coasts are going to be underwater in a few years. It's fear mongering.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am a conservative. I want a smaller government. Way smaller. Lower tax rates, (way) less government spending, secure borders, school choice expansion, protection of pre-born babies, support for our police, energy independence, election integrity, and limiting the government overreach we've seen these last two years.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

The police need to be adequately funded. If a jurisdiction wants, additionally, to provide these services, that would be up to them. I would not take resources from our law enforcement to do that.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." I support some regulations as part of the "well regulated militia", but I also respect the "shall not be infringed" part. I think the balance that most states have to not allow convicted felons to have weapons is reasonable. I don't think there should be any restrictions on gun ownership for law-abiding citizens.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Would you support legislation that prohibits biological boys from competing on girls sports teams?
Yes
This would be a priority for me. To have men competing in women's sports makes Title IX meaningless and is just patently unfair on it's face.
