OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, North Carolina should repeal its law allowing abortion up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I only support taxpayer-funded abortion in the case where the mother's life is in grave danger and that is the only viable option left. To that end, my late wife probably wouldn't have agreed to that as she had an emergency hernia surgery while pregnant with our last child. Then again, the doctor insisted the surgery did not put my baby in danger. Both survived (my late wife died when my last child was two years old). Our party should have passed the Abortion Survivors Act when we HAD a Republican Governor, a Republican State Senate, and a Republican State House (which included my opponent) 4-8 years ago, or with a Republican U.S. Congress with President Trump two years ago. I am completely convinced my opponent is pro-life, that is not my point. Nobody ever holds our own party accountable for our failures. We promise to defund Planned Parenthood in Raleigh and Washington, never do it. Had a Republican Supreme Court for DECADES, still cannot end Roe v. Wade.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Neutral

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

You have a right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of your conscience, and no authority whatsoever has a right to interfere in your rights of conscience. That is guaranteed already by Article 1, Section 13 of the North Carolina Constitution. Why are we messing with perfection? Every person in America is ALREADY a monarch, for we are given jointly the exact same power that God gives to monarchs and tyrants. Read Romans 13:1 carefully. We are being tested for whether we can be trusted for far greater power on the other side. Jesus said to do GREATER works than the VERY elect. Now how does He give a command without already giving you the power to fulfill it?! What does it profit a man to gain the entire world if he loses his eternal soul? Your soul is more important to God than the entire world! Live like it!

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The easiest way to get rid of a bad law is to not pass it. The easiest way to address our 33% adult obesity rate in North Carolina is to not allow people to get obese. The first and biggest step is to stop excusing and making light of our Church's gluttony. We have no right to point fingers at anyone else until we take the proverbial plank out of our own eye. As someone who lost his wife in large part to obesity, this is an issue I take very seriously. I oppose federal expansion of government-run healthcare. At the state level I do support expansion of access to self-employed people (like myself) and the working poor. Along those ends, we need to save up money (not go into debt) to build three additional mental health hospitals in North Carolina, including one much closer to my district. We have no business calling ourselves a "Christian state" with 10 million people and only three mental health hospitals.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State, sheriff and local law enforcement agencies should be required to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) Program to enhance the safety and security of their communities to identify and detain aliens.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I want any person who wants to work his or her tail off to come to America. But learn the country first. Learn English and show how you will be an asset and not a liability to America. "Extreme vetting" as said by our President is a good idea. It is a wonderful thing when people go through a difficult process to become a citizen and really appreciate it.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Neutral

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Parents should have the right to know what schools are teaching their children about sex and LGBT issues and should have the right to opt their children out of any instruction to which they object.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My foundation of political thought starts with Romans 13. Whether we like it or not, even our State Constitution can be overruled by a Supreme Court ruling or federal law due to the Supremacy Clause. If we cannot obey a federal ruling we should not be in public office. I also understand our State Constitution provided (in Article 1, Section 13) that we ALREADY have an inalienable right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of OUR conscience, and that no authority whatsoever can interfere with the rights of conscience. The "marriage amendment" actually weakens that inalienable right and was not wise to pursue as court cases on gay marriage were being debated. There was no scenario in which the amendment stops a Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage. (Besides, isn't Jesus married to the Church?) The government's sole duty in marriage is to record and enforce a contract between two consenting adults, period. I don't like regulating behavior with tax laws.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My political viewpoints tend to be very conservative or libertarian, the best proof is my Twitter @DennisJustice or my campaign Twitter @DennisJusticeNC.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have been in politics for over 25 years, starting with United We Stand America. I have been the President of the Henderson County Republican Men's Club and for many years ran the local party's website. I almost won a County Commission seat in Henderson County in 2000, only losing by 622 votes and carrying 1/3 of the precincts. I have a Master's degree in Sports Management (4.0 GPA in graduate school), and have been involved in youth and adult recreation efforts and volunteered for several local sport teams. I am a frequent writer on many issues including improving recreation infrastructure. I am known to work on cost-effective ways to address legitimate infrastructure needs.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I don't take the politically safe view, ever. I wouldn't be worthy of my surname otherwise. For I don't need this job. This job needs me. And this job needs you. We need to stop and think of the consequences of badly written laws designed to "save America" and focus on just saving Americans. For when the crisis comes, God doesn't care about your orientation, your registration, or your pigmentation. He only cares about your DESPERATION! For, as T. D. Jakes once said, God has a divine ego, he MUST be praised! Jesse Duplantis once said we focus so much on how much we need God, and we do, we never consider how much God needs us. He's right. God wants us to rule and reign with Jesus! I have found saving lives leads to saving souls. If that what your heart is, a vote for me is the START of a process. Don't let it be the end.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The only restrictions should be for convicted felons, people who are mentally incompetent, or people who have no right be in our country anyway. Not a restriction, but we need more education in teaching students how to operate firearms safely, and support high school gun and archery clubs. I 100% back any teacher who wishes to be trained to be armed in school if she or he feels it is needed.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Agree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. Pushing anti-obesity efforts. Transfer funds from the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund program to direct payments to local Parks and Recreation departments. Any expansion of gambling (which is GOING to happen) has revenue only for local Parks and Recreation departments. Add flag football as a girls' high school sport and enhance P.E. 2. Election reform. No independent should have to fill a petition to run for any office. Term limits. Lobbying reform. 3. Repeal of outdated laws.
