RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Medical abortion to treat a woman whose pregnancy is life threatening to her should be allowed. All other cases of medically necessary abortion are the private decisions and discussions between a woman, her family and her physician.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
Planned parenthood and some other abortion providers unfortunately have abused grant funds by not being transparent and honest in their service to patients. They also have profited off selling aborted fetuses which were performed through grant funding. This profiting scheme should exclude them from future participation in Title X grants or other taxpayer sourced funding.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
Since these practices involve another person administering drugs or withholding treatment from a patient who may be incapacitated and unable to speak for themselves it becomes a confusing legal issue. I do not support any government becoming involved in dictating morality on a person's life. I would hope that every citizen educates themselves on living wills and the importance of guardianship.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Arizona has a new Flat Tax which will be equal for citizens of all income levels. No changes should be made. Any other tax structures that single out specific income earners become an illegal "penalty" tax. The federal tax codes need to follow the same suit.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
There are many research and cultural spending projects that the government has no business subsidizing or funding. If corporations or communities wish to promote specific research or cultural activities they need to seek out community Foundations which have stakeholders and communities of interest that will support those interests. There are Arizona Departments which encroach on overreach and malfeasance which cost the state money in legal fees and misappropriation. Assessments and Audits of all State departments needs to take place to identify them and correct their actions.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
Higher education is not a right - Sorry, but it is nowhere in the US or Arizona Constitution. Might you get a higher paying job with a college education? Maybe- Maybe not. Taxpayers should not have to fund your degree in renaissance art. Lower cost technical training and more journeyman positions can train our future skilled workforce. Ask me how I advanced in my profession: free on the job training and professional associations.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
All business agreements are a contract between two consenting entities. If the service is not mutually agreeable then no contract shall be drawn. Now some fringe elements want to throw discrimination into the economic mix and have governments dictate contracts. I'm not buying it. Any person is free to move on down the street to the next business that will fulfill their service needs. If a business keeps refusing contracts how long do you think they will stay in business? That is Free Enterprise.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
That would violate our first amendment. Arizona now has a law that would provide protection for Churches during times of emergency establishing them as necessary essential services. This would also make it a crime for anyone to attempt to close a church.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Vaccinations that actually prevent disease are available to those who wish to take them. Others may have medical issues or issues of conscience that must be considered before final decision. As for the recent covid "vaccinations" which are not actually vaccinations, no requirement should be instituted at this time. There have been no conclusive studies on efficacy, and the increase in sudden death and health anomalies in otherwise healthy adults and children should be a concern to any government, school or employer contemplating such a requirement. Their first concern should be to the individual and their health. If it is not - then run.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
In designating terrorism as Islamic you have identified the problem. The Islamic culture and religion is one that is not compatible with 3/4 of the worlds population. Terrorists like to hide among regular people, in familiar neighborhoods with common cultures. Therefore the US needs to vet immigrants and make sure they are able to assimilate into our culture and religions that promote healthy and safe families and communities. For those who cannot or will not assimilate, the US needs to hold a strong line on removing these terrorists from our country. The job of Federal Government is to provide security to our country. With open borders and no enforcement of immigration laws we are doomed for another terrorist attack like 9-11
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Article I.of the Constitution describes in detail the responsibility of our Federal Government to secure our Republic. And our Elected Officials take an oath to uphold these constitutional responsibilities.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Persons who legally apply for and complete the immigration process, and who are not inadmissible, should be able to immigrate to the US barring any other unforeseen complications. Refugees or Asylum seekers are not immigrants, and are usually here temporarily and must apply for and complete a green card process or legal permanent status.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
There is a divine consciousness that guides those who would receive it. It is what causes us to make good choices, to take the higher road in life. It enables us to be strong and firm in conviction, and also be kind and empathetic to the weak and defenseless. Philosophers and Hebrew law are the basis for this knowledge which now includes Christianity. If these philosophies, laws and teaching are practiced then peace and prosperity can be found. When society does not have these beliefs it is in conflict. Decadence, perversion and apathy prevail and progress into war and suffering. I choose to stay on the path of divine consciousness.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Laws that reduce the chance of error, cheating, incompetence, or other actions that diminish the accuracy of the vote should be vigorously sought. Everyone's secret ballot vote should be accurately counted. Ballot drop boxes should be prohibited as they have been found to be a source of excessive fraudulent voting. Valid proof of citizenship should be required to assure that only American Citizens are voting otherwise your vote is negated by people who are not legally in your district. Local elections are the most important because they have the biggest impact on your daily life: taxes, infrastructure, resources can be inflated or drained by outsiders who have no vested interest in your town, county or state. Strict regulations on the upkeep of voter rolls with outside audits are required to assure only voters actually living in the districts are casting a vote. Non-citizens who illegally cast votes threaten our cultural institutions and Constitutional form of government. Abuse of our elderly and infirm by ballot harvesters also occurs which is a shameful reflection on where we are as a society. Standardized election processes for county recorders and updated Elections Manual from the State SOS to the Elections Officials is a must. And finally, transparent Quality Assurance checks and reviews resulting in publicly reported Corrective Action measures is the way trust can be rebuilt in our election process which is solely the responsibility of each individual state. Having worked with the voter registries and reviews of canvasing, I have personal knowledge of these issues. They are not conspiracy theory. If you don't acknowledge them, you can't fix them. Every legal citizen's vote shall be accurately counted.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is not a threat to domestic security but it is a disturbing trend that needs to be addressed. Racism is taught. I know because I remember the exact incident where I learned it. It wasn't at home or from anyone in my family or anyone my family associated with. It came from outsiders with no morals or life values of common decency. Racism can be irradiated. It can be "un-learned". A good start would be to remove all traces of the flawed and never proven critical race theory. Read the book CYNICAL THEORIES, Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
As in any process, oversight needs to be in place to assure safety and sound extraction processes.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of our Constitutional Government is to provide security to the Republic of States and their citizens through congressional laws, executive administration of those laws and through judicial review of those laws.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
facebook - Deborah McEwen page and other recorded public appearances
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am a researcher, reader of books, problem solver and investigator. I don't rely on other people for information. I seek it out. I have not had pay TV (cable) since 2007. I am a dog lover and have a rescue parrot. I abhor corruption, abuse, crime, evil and bullying. My legislative priorities will be the fairness of election integrity, State Sovereignty from Federal government overreach and restoring community Mental Health in all institutions.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
The Departmental policy will be on trial, not the officer. Officers may still vulnerable to Civil lawsuits.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
Funding should not be redirected but rather expanded to include more SRO's and CPO's
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
If a person is determined to be a danger to himself or others through previous legal proceedings they are restricted. There are no other restrictions on ownership that are necessary. The fifth amendment guarantees the due process of law and the second amendment protects the right to keep arms.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
So the Anderson Bat Company should be sued because someone used a bat to assault someone? This is an illogical statement. Attention should be paid to the mental health and actions of the perpetrator, not the inanimate bat or gun.
