QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Under no circumstances.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The number one issue I hear about in Comal and Hays counties is astronomical property taxes. I have a plan to cut property taxes in half and completely eliminate the school maintenance and operations (M&O) property tax, the largest portion of our property tax bills — without raising any other taxes to compensate or jeopardizing school funding. The 87th legislature enacted a more strict spending limit of population plus inflation. I want to use the surplus to buy down M&O taxes over 12 years. This would also eliminate the “Robin Hood” recapture law that steals funding from every school district in House District 73.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would cut corporate subsidies. Our hard earned tax dollars should not be used to pick winners and losers.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Under no circumstances should the government be permitted to force churches to close their doors.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Health insurance coverage should be a choice, not a mandate, and it shouldn’t be paid for by our tax dollars, with the exception of Medicaid and Medicare.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
None
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
America is a beacon of hope to the world because of our commitment to liberty and republican government, a responsibility we should take seriously. Ultimately, military and foreign policy matters are the responsibility of congressional representatives, not the state legislature, but I support a strong national defense, energy independence, and oppose the new "woke" doctrine being shoved down the throat of our active servicemen and women.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Our immigration system is broken and the border crisis is a humanitarian and public safety crisis the federal government has ignored too long. Unfortunately, there are countless truly well-meaning men and women who truly desire to become Americans who are crowded out by those who abuse the system — some of whom are criminals. I believe we should welcome individuals and families who are seeking a better life and willing to be productive members of society and accept the responsibilities that come with American citizenship. I support all efforts to secure the border, and I am opposed to magnets that encourage illegal immigartion.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am fortunate to have been raised by Christian parents who made sure I know the word of God and have a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This knowledge and relationship guides every decision I have made and will make.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
In addition to maintaining current election integrity laws, Texas should tighten restrictions on mail-in ballots, which are one of the easiest ways to commit election fraud. We should also make voter fraud a felony.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Unfortunately, racism exists, and there is an extremely small minority who do not recognize the value of all human life. However, I believe the media’s obsession with race and the progressive movement’s “critical race theory” does more to divide us than unite us. We should stop assigning worth or status to a person’s skin color and instead follow the advice of Martin Luther King, Jr., who dreamt of an America where the “content of our character” mattered more than our race.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The government exists to protect our unalienable rights — nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately, even at the state level, politicians have moved far beyond their constitutional duty to ensure public safety and administer justice, and our government regulates so many issues far better left to individual and community choice.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
THE RED REPORT https://redsonja-conservativesinaction.blogspot.com/2021/11/texas-house-district-73-open-seat.html
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My top priorities are to cut property taxes, secure the border and keep our communities safe, and uphold American values. I’ll fight Joe Biden’s radical socialist agenda by preserving the Second Amendment, ensuring election integrity, standing up to Big Tech censorship of conservatives, and fighting for religious freedom.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I do not support any new gun control measures. I believe the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution is clear, “shall not be infringed.” I support Constitutional Carry and believe the only people who abey gun laws are law abiding citizens.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
