QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
When the mother's life is at risk.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Fortunately, balancing the budget isn’t a problem in Texas—it’s constitutionally required! At the federal level, I’d like to see Congress pass a balanced budget amendment, which would save the taxpayers over $1 trillion. If Congress doesn’t act, I support calling a Convention of States with the purpose of implementing a balanced budget and enacting congressional term limits. I support zero-based budgeting and implementing the sunset review process, for every federal agency, as is done in Texas.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
I support the design, established by our nation’s founders, of limited civil government jurisdiction under the natural laws of God, and I oppose the concept that the state is sovereign over the affairs of men, the family, and the church. I believe that government properly exists by the consent of the governed and must be prevented from intruding into the freedoms of its citizens. The function of government is not to grant rights, but to protect the unalienable, God-given rights of life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness of all. Texans should be free to express their religious beliefs, including prayer, in public places.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I would promote healthcare reform that results in more affordable healthcare through a transparent, competitive, and market-based healthcare system, including interstate competition, direct primary care, block grants for Medicaid and Medicare, and health savings accounts. There should be fewer regulations, less time-consuming paperwork for healthcare practitioners, and more control for Americans over the types and sources of care they receive.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I believe those who truly desire to become an American, and embrace the freedom, individual responsibility, and opportunities that only our country can provide, should be allowed to immigrate to the United States. Unfortunately, many people abuse our immigration system by crossing the border illegally — often putting themselves and their families in danger of physical and sexual assault and exploitation. Though I'm running for the state legislature, which doesn't set immigration policy, border security and protecting our citizens from drug cartels and human trafficking will be a top priority during my tenure.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Promotion of the LGBT agenda in public schools, including teaching of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”, is completely inappropriate and should be opposed at the state and local level.
Strongly Agree
I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in one God, Creator of the universe, existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe God's plan of redemption is found in the incarnation of Jesus. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and He lived a sinless life of perfect obedience. He was crucified and raised from the dead on the third day and is sitting at the right hand of the Father. I believe that we receive salvation from sin through Jesus Christ. I believe that Christ has sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in the hearts of His people to enable them to live Godly lives. I believe that the Bible is divine revelation. I submit to its authority, acknowledging it to be inspired by God and carrying the full weight of His authority. I believe that my faith should be visible in my personal and social behavior. I seek to be a faithful disciple of Christ, until He comes again to consummate His kingdom. I believe in the resurrection. Those that are saved, will enjoy a life of and eternal joy.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I've voted in the Republican primary for over 15 years and have attended, as either a delegate or alternate delegate, the last 5 Republican Party of Texas State conventions. I'm a founding member of the Hays County Republican Women group, member of the NRA and TSRA, member of Ducks Unlimited, and contributor to conservative organizations including the Heart of Texas Pregnancy Resource Center and Texas Values. I regularly attend pro-life banquets, fundraisers, and rallies for to support the conservative movement. I am a member of the Church of Christ.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
As the spouse of a former 4-term member of the Texas House, I had an inside view of the legislative process for eight years. None of my opponents are as familiar with the legislative process or inner workings of the legislature. I've attended committee hearings and conferences, been to many local government and community meetings, met with constituents and legislators, and know how to get things done on the House floor. Most importantly, I'm familiar with the issues both on a statewide scale and at the district level, so I'll be ready to hit the ground running on day one.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am a Christian, fourth-generation Texan, nonprofit leader, wife, mother, and proud conservative. As the daughter of an Air Force veteran who worked blue-collar jobs to provide for our family, and as someone who had to leverage student loans to be the first college graduate in my family, I understand the value of a dollar and the impact the government has on our financial freedom. Now, as the mother of two teenage boys, owner of a small business, and non-profit leader I’ve seen firsthand how intrusive government can be on our schools and our businesses. I supported my husband, Jason Isaac, in his four terms as our state representative — and I have the knowledge and relationships to hit the ground running on day one. I'm also an IRONMAN, meaning I've completed the full 140.6-mile triathlon. I have the mental toughness and perseverance needed to defeat the socialist incumbent in November. We must take back Hays and Blanco counties, and I'm the best candidate to do that in 2020.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
There should be no additional restrictions. In fact, there should be fewer gun regulations. People should not have to pay to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Property tax reform that leads to elimination 2. Free-market healthcare reform 3. Eliminate "Robin Hood" recapture in our school finance system
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
It’s unfortunate that racism still exists in our society, as evidenced by the recent tragic attacks at a Jewish synagogue in New York. However, I believe racism is the calling card of a tiny minority of mentally sick people. Most Texans and Americans couldn't care less about what country their neighbors come from or what color their skin is — in fact, we appreciate the value that comes from different backgrounds and perspectives. But sadly, we live in a fallen world. We should decisively condemn the heinous crimes perpetrated by racists of all stripes and continue working to address mental health across our state.
