QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe that life begins at conception, and that we should do everything within our power to protect an innocent life. Ending the life of a child should be only considered for a mother whose life is in danger, and that decision should be made by a doctor and only with the explicit consent of the family. I’m proud to be endorsed by statewide pro-life organizations.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
My husband and I started our first business out of our garage, struggling to make ends meet. I remember being shocked at how the government requires taxes to be paid on so many things that are unseen or misrepresented, and we dutifully paid them even though we were a very small, struggling business, not even generating profit. Knowing that small businesses create the majority of jobs in Texas, we need far more “truth in taxation”, and must look for ways to reduce tax burdens on the employers and job creators in our state.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
We need to commit to cutting the fat statewide. An easy start would be to increase the efficacy of the Texas Sunset Commission, which is supposed to help get rid of outdated, obsolete programs in our state agencies. Our legislature meets bi-annually, and our budget is bi-annual, and yet Sunset Commission only reviews agencies every 7 years. We are missing out on the opportunity to eliminate redundant spending and budget padding; technology and communication tools alone evolve so quickly that they should be reviewed annually.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
In November 2021 Texans overwhelming voted to amend the state Constitution to ensure that churches and houses of worship can never again be shut down by a government agency or official. There should not be any circumstance that allows for the government to shut down a church.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
There should be no COVID-19 vaccine mandates required by entities such as governments, schools or employers.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Terrorism is never acceptable. We must ensure that our law enforcement agencies always have the power to protect us from those who would try to harm us. This means we must ensure that our local, state and federal law enforcement, intelligence and military agencies are fully funded and allowed to do what is needed to keep us safe. Extremist viewpoints that attract the terrorists who would weaponize Americans to turn on each other, or allow foreign criminals to have access to terroristic activities on American soil, must not be allowed to fester.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The United States has a legal process in place for immigration, and this is how so many of our own ancestors became Americans centuries ago. America is more competitive because we benefit from the innovation, strong workforce, and marketplace of ideas that is bolstered by LEGAL immigration. The problem is that our current Federal government does not enforce legal immigration laws, and therefore Texas must be allowed to secure its own population and borders if Washington won’t do its job.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
As a born-again Christian my faith is based on trust in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. My values come from my practice of the Christian Faith and Biblical Values. My faith journey began at the age of 8 when I accepted Christ, and has continued and deepened throughout my lifetime. I have been actively involved at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship for over 25 years, where my husband I have served in many different capacities. We have raised our four children to follow Christ. Our ministry work includes leading overseas missions trips for both adults and youth, serving as life group leaders, as a Sunday school teacher, and working in hospitality and women’s ministry, Bible study leader, Good News Club Leader, Mentor, and VBS Teacher.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
In the last legislative session SB1 was passed that significantly improved on our voting practices here in Texas. Closing loopholes, clarifying language to ensure county election offices understand procedures, creating an auditing process for both large and small counties throughout the state, and standardizing what is being done to ensure integrity for voters. We need to make it difficult for illegal votes to be cast so that Texans know their voice has been accurately and fairly heard every time they go to the ballot box.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
As a Hispanic woman whose Grandma Rose Tofoya grew up in poverty in Northern New Mexico, my family personally understands how harmful racism can be. As a Christian, I believe that we are all created in the image of God and that racism is sinful and harmful.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Government should only exist to provide services for society that we cannot provide for ourselves. Services like water and sewer, police and fire, roads and highways, are not something an individual can provide for his own family at a reasonable cost, so it is beneficial for us for government to provide these things. But otherwise, government should not be in the “business” of looking for ways to replace private and commercial entities.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Here are a couple of the third-party files available online right now (including a Democrat attack piece) which corroborate my conservative policy positions, and more importantly, demonstrate that I am the same candidate today that I have always been, and I do not shift my policy and personal beliefs with the winds of political change. https://lonestarproject.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Copy-of-Kronda-Thimesch-Background.docx.pdf https://voterguide.dallasnews.com/2020-primary/candidates/1203/
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
Years in and years out, the issues facing our state may change, but how I will approach those issues won’t. Those who have worked with me know that I am a good listener. I believe as a leader it is my duty to have an open door and engage with our community in a meaningful way. I will always operate with the utmost integrity and model servant leadership. As a Christian, my faith in God and reflecting Him in all my ways is my highest priority. Legislative priorities for 2023 must include: - Securing our border to stop the tide of illegal immigration into our country. - Reforming our property tax system and making the appraisal process fair for homeowners. - Continuing to ensure election integrity making it easy to vote but hard to cheat, to ensure that every vote is counted and we remove opportunities for fraud. - Fully funding our police to keep our communities safe Full list of endorsements can be found on my website at www.KrondaForTexas.com/endorsements
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I am from a family of hunters and outdoorsmen, and my husband and sons remain avid hunters. We are a Second Amendment family and I will respect and defend the rights of Americans to own and carry guns. The right way to improve public safety when it comes to guns is to reduce the flow of illegal weapons across Texas borders, to support law enforcement in seizing weapons from criminals and illegal immigrants, and to encourage private entities to promote responsible and safe gun ownership through education. More government regulation on law-abiding American gun owners will never be a successful method to increase public safety.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
