OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, North Carolina should repeal its law allowing abortion up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Never, under any circumstances, should any child ever be aborted. The so-called "life of the mother" issues are false excuses. In every case, the mother's life can be saved through a Caesarean section, without killing the baby. The mother and the baby are separate human beings and separate patients. Every effort should be made to save them both, although it might not be possible to save the baby in every case. In cases of rape or incest, the child should never be killed for the father's crime. Abortion is the most obviously premeditated form of murder. It should be outlawed, and violators should face the death penalty. Planned Parenthood and other abortion provider organizations should also be outlawed. They should no longer be allowed to carry out Margaret Sanger's intentions of eliminating blacks or any other people group she considered undesirable.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Separation of church and state means that the Church should not run the government, and the government should not run the Church. It is not stated in the US Constitution. All the Constitution says is that the government may not impose any one denomination of the Church or other religion as the one to which all citizens must belong, and that the government is not allowed to interfere with anyone's freedom of religious expression. The concept of separation of church and state was expressed in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Association to reassure them that there would be no religious persecution in America as there had been in Europe.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I support North Carolina Treasurer Dale Folwell's efforts to require transparency in healthcare.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State, sheriff and local law enforcement agencies should be required to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) Program to enhance the safety and security of their communities to identify and detain aliens.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Actual refugees and people with peaceful intentions who follow our immigration laws should be eligible. Preference should be given to refugees and skilled laborers. There should be limits, so as not to jeopardize the ability of existing citizens to find employment.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Parents should have the right to know what schools are teaching their children about sex and LGBT issues and should have the right to opt their children out of any instruction to which they object.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Minister of the Gospel serving as a Pastor in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Every knee shall bow and ever tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is God in the flesh and the only Savior of sinners. We call Jesus King, Lord, and Christ, or Messiah. All three of these are political terms. If He is King, then He is King everywhere, even in the halls of government. While it has a religious aspect, Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship with the risen and living Lord Jesus. I refuse to leave that relationship outside the doors of the Legislature.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Anyone can check my voting record in the House of Representatives or my many statements on Facebook for plenty of evidence of my strong conservatism.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I hold a BA in English, with a minor in Religion, and a degree of Master of Divinity with Languages. So I am well educated. I have been involved as a volunteer for a number of candidates for political office since the early 1990's, and in the Republican Party. I have served since October, 2011 in the North Carolina House of Representatives, where I have helped stop a lot of bad legislation that would have been harmful to our citizens. I have taken a lot of abuse along the way; but I never back down from conservative, constitutional principles or from defending out citizens against government overreach.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Other than traffic violations when I was young, my only other conviction in a court of law was a charge of second degree trespassing for blocking access to an abortion mill. Nineteen babies were saved the day I was arrested, and I got to hold some of them after they were born. I am grateful to God that He allowed me to be a part of that glorious work of obeying Him rather than men. I was the pudgy little kid the bullies wanted to fight on the playground because they thought I would be easy. They soon found out it wasn't so. I also got into fights to take up for other kids who couldn't defend themselves. While I'm not using my fists now, I'm still fighting bullies for the sake of our citizens. I am also going to keep my word not to serve more than five full terms by making this my last election.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

As long as you are a lawful citizen, with no criminal record or criminal intent, and are mentally competent, it is no one else's business what guns you own or how many or where and how you carry them. Gun control laws are not about public safety. They are about the government controlling the people, rather than the people controlling the government as the Founding Fathers intended.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Pro-life Pro-gun Pro-individual rights
