Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Did not answer

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Socialism provides a robust foundation for a stable economy.

Did not answer

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Did not answer

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The MS Public Service Commission has been provided the authority to "foster, encourage, enable and facilitate economic development in the State of Mississippi, and to support and augment economic development activities." Any actions must consider the costs and impacts to all customers while understanding the benefits provided and the scale of those benefits. Government (and the MPSC) can help foster competition in a sector that is dominated by monopoly industries. This must be done in a transparent manner.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or business owners because of their deeply held religious beliefs.

Did not answer

Governments should not penalize those who define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Did not answer

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Not sure I can provide publicly available info to validate my response, but I do know that we must have thoughtful considerations and conversations on many of the challenges facing us.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

For the last 13 years, I have effectively worked across the state and region championing common-sense energy policies, promoting technologies that benefit you while creating new economic opportunities, and diversifying a smarter energy mix. I have been working with the Commissioners and staff of the PSC since 2009 and have been an active participant in the development of policies, programs, standards, and rulemakings, filing scores of written comments, testifying at public hearings and expressing my thoughts on matters when appropriate. I am the candidate who has the technical know-how and independence to lower utility bills, put a stop to nuisance robocallers and provide cost-effective broadband internet services to the citizens of the Central District. I have banned robocalls from my campaign.

E-mail address and phone number for voters to reach you:

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the Candidate Survey. However, the matters outlined in the survey are not issues that would come before the MS Public Service Commission. The MPSC regulates the various utilities across the state and oversees those matters associated with them and their customers. Until we have the lowest energy costs in the region, until we have reliable internet in every rural community, until all robocalls are stopped, until every square mile of Mississippi has cellular coverage, and until every consumer has multiple energy choices, that is what I am going to focus my attention upon. Those are the issues important to utility ratepayers and those issues are why I am running for the MPSC I hope that despite my committed focus on the matters for which the MPSC has direct oversight, voters will take a moment to learn more about me and my campaign at brentbailey4psc.com.
