14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

Mankind is inherently flawed and the danger is that a faction can gain control and impose tyranny on everyone else. Because of this the founders set up a system where power was separated and faced checks, slowing down government and guaranteeing that there would be plenty of chances for factions to check one another, preserving liberty.

I served for 26 years in the Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of Colonel. During my time in the Marines, I fought in Vietnam where I was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with Valor Device. After my retirement, I recieved masters degrees in both Political Science and Public Adminstration and taught American History and Political Science at Copper Mountain College, Cal State San Bernardino, and University of California Riverside. I was elected to the Yucca Valley City Council and served as mayor. In 2006, I was elected to represent California's 65th Assembly District and am currently serving in my third

16. What charitable, educational, religious, or political organizations have you been affiliated with as a member, contributor, or volunteer?

I am an active member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. I am also involved with supporting the Relay for Life and other anti-Cancer organizations. I worship at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Joshua Tree, Ca, where I am an active member of the parish.
