QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I believe in medical autonomy so an individual's well-being should be between the business of the individual and her physician.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
It is the government's duty to protect its citizens and such responsibility extends to making sure any drugs to be administered on its citizens shall have safety guidelines in place as questioned herein.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Disagree
It is unfortunate that Planned Parenthood has been mischaracterized as an abortion provider. Planned Parenthood is an organization that provides affordable health care to those in need, irrespective of gender, and also one of the few organizations that provide sex education to constituents. I did not know about Planned Parenthood's true role until fate would have me meet staff, patients and/or volunteers of Planned Parenthood through my involvement volunteering for non profit organizations.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
Permitting one's physician to carry out one's end of life medical wishes has long been in existence. By utilizing a directive to physician or surrogates (living will), one can designate an individual to make medical decisions when one can longer speak for him/herself with a terminal illness. If one can designate such in a legal instrument when one can no longer communicate, why should one who is capable of communicating be forbidden to do the exact same thing?
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states that Congress shall not make laws with respect to the establishment of religion or preventing the free exercise thereof, which implies that there is a separation of state and religion. While Congress can pass laws to protect its citizens, however, to avoid violating the "Establishment Clause", the laws shall be carefully crafted. The right to peaceable enjoyment of religion is also enumerated within Article 1 of the Texas Constitution.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
There shall always be a separation of state and religion. Accordingly, no one individual shall be forced to do anything in violation of one's religious beliefs.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The lack of respect for the laws of other counties by the Chinese Community Party in and of itself poses a serious threat. Factor in its patterns of threats against the U.S. and some of our allies, and its failure to respect and/or enforce stricter laws on the issues outlined herein, pose serious concerns.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
The United States' role as the global leader of the world is one of peacemaker. Accordingly, the United States' relationship with every foreign country is important in order to maintain peace, which can only be achieved if the United States strike a right balance in its efforts. That means providing humanitarian aid to the country in need while standing firm against an ally desiring to invade another ally's territory.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
The fundamental right to "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" implies to the wellbeing of its citizens and that extends to health. Without health, there is no life and the pursuit of happiness. In order to give effect to the aforementioned phrase, healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with the options of private healthcare.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Absent a law requiring vaccination, the government cannot force vaccination on its citizens, which includes constituents of public schools. For employers, as long as it does not violate employee's fundamental rights, i.e. religious belief.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
Absent violating existing laws, the right of businesses to freely compete with other businesses without governmental interference is necessary to effectuate the true meaning of free enterprise and right to private property.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
As the global leader of the world, I believe our citizens should have a living wage.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
Ratings can be a consideration when determining where to invest public monies but should not be the deciding factor since depending on the group, the methodology and/or means of obtaining the data to produce the ratings can impact the ratings result.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Disagree
For those not having anything to lose but a potential hope of a better life, those individuals will find ways to illegally cross the border, irrespective of how high we build a wall to secure the southern border. We as a nation should focus on the internal infrastructure first and work our way outwards. Having a house built on a good foundation is necessary before having a security system installed.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Disagree
The concept of funding education by allowing dollars to follow the child is the voucher system. Under such system, the dollars per child would be insufficient to cover the tuition thus leaving those underprivileged students in worse state than now. Over a time span, there will be a great disparity between the educated and the undereducated or even worse, non educated due to public school closures.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
To have a safe community, funding shall always be allocated to law enforcement first in order to have safe schools and safe community venues to hold community programs.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Background check is a form of restriction on gun ownership that protects public safety. However, we also need to enforce the penalties on those individuals failing to conduct proper background checks and those in violation of purchasing guns without such inquiry.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
No
Teachers are at school to teach. They should not have to carry guns to school for self defense. This is why I previously answered that funds should be allocated to law enforcement to provide safe schools.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of government is to ensure life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for its constituents without due regards to race, color, religion, gender, age, national original, etc. by enacting and enforcing laws that effectuate that very purpose.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
I would consider myself moderate since I believe in effectuating the words enumerated in the U.S. Constitution and the Texas Constitution to apply equally to all. In advocating for the rights of my constituents, I advocate for all, not just for a certain group or class because to truly effectuate that "all men are created equal", we must apply the rules across the board and not favor one over the other.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Minors lack the mental capacity and life skills to protect themselves, which is why laws are in place to protect minors. It is the society's duty to work with law enforcement officials to prevent incidents as outlined in this question by reporting to the authorities when child abuse, grooming, and/or self mutilation is suspected.
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
As stated previously, minors lack the mental capacity and life skills to make the decisions of legal consequence. However, when a child's interest and a parent's interest may be in conflict, then a third-party representing the best interest of the child shall determine what is in the child's best interest. An example would be a personal injury case involving a minor and a court appointed ad litem shall be appointed to represent the best interest of the child.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Disagree
I believe in medical autonomy and that autonomy extends to autonomy of self funding of self-chosen service as questioned herein.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
As a devout Catholic, I believe God loves all. As taught at my church, even those who may not believe in God, God loves all creatures below. Having stated that, marriage is a God-ordained sacred and legal union of two individuals loving each other and desiring to journey their life on earth together for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death to they part. The two individuals' willingness to give effect to their vows is the key, not their genders.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am Catholic and believes that as a Christian, I shall give effect to the words of the Lord, i.e. not judge others, encourage others, spread the word of the Lord and most important, learn to forgive.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
Identification with the proper information to identify the individual as presented is necessary to prevent fraud.
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Neutral
I believe this topic requires further studies to determine the pros and cons of changing the current system to avoid placing our Democracy at risk. For the foregoing needed studies, one needs to consider the methodology of conducting the studies. At this point, I neither support or oppose it.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a threat in general not just the domestic security in the United States. Racism is a form of hate which divides constituents. An increase in racism will result in greater hate and division, which as history as shown, hate against one population, the Jewish population, impacted globally with the occurrence of WWII.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
The U.S. institutions are not fundamentally racist, it appears to be because those in office are there due to the voters voting the majority into office. That being the case, the laws passed are from the perspective of the majority. To counter that problem, every U.S. citizen should register and vote. Ifne does not vote, one does not have a voice and he/she does not matter. Representation can be achieved through the power of voting.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
Transgender individuals have the right to participate in public activities and use public facilities of their gender expression as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of the cisgender individuals. In other words, equal treatment with equal protection of the rights to all citizens.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
Impactful environmental laws and regulations should be in place so that companies will comply with the laws as opposed to taking a risk of potentially getting fined because the ongoing pollution by manufacturers, as well as constituents, are major contributors to the severe weather changes impacting the world.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
There is not one solution that will result in most reliable energy source as not one source can provide the demand required. It should be the utilization of a combination of energy sources to supply that growing demand.
