OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Disagree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Neutral

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is wrong, but it is not the government's place to be involved. If the resources devoted to making it illegal were instead focused on education, adoption, contraceptives, and resources for new parents then I believe abortion rates would plummet.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Agree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I'd bring our military home and put them to work on US infrastructure and reform our intellectual property law so that our economy could grow enough to catch up with current spending. I would then systematically set limits to shrink government spending each year.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The government should not legislate belief. The government is there to help establish and enforce basic rules of commerce and protect our rights. It is not the place to hash out ideological differences and the rules should not require a team of experts to interpret.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Ideally, we would return to free market principles. However, given the power of lobbyist groups and the money flowing to the Republicans and Democrats with regards to this issue I suspect that will not be possible. With that in mind we should begin moving towards a healthcare for all with a private option for those who want it.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Disagree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Visas were instituted as a means to limit Jewish immigration around the world. We need to begin moving towards open borders so that people can go where the jobs are. One of the many advantages of such would be the spread of democracy and the greater pressure on world powers to remain at peace.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Agree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

Promotion of the LGBT agenda in public schools, including teaching of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”, is completely inappropriate and should be opposed at the state and local level.

Neutral

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God. I believe in separation of church and state. We are a nation built on Judeo-Christian beliefs that were important in establishing our freedoms and rights. With those rights in place it is now the government's job to facilitate commerce and protect our liberty. All of our liberties, even of those we disagree with.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Did not answer

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I majored in physics with minors in business, math, and Spanish. I believe we need more scientists and problem solvers in government and fewer lawyers. I have trained dolphins, worked in oil and gas, am married to a medical student, help start multiple non-profits, and have lived/worked on 4 continents. This breadth of experience has given me a base to use for creating novel solutions and the knowledge to be able to implement them.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

As a Libertarian I understand that my impact as a single voice in the state congress will be limited. As such, my work will primarily be in creating a government that is more responsive to the people than to the lobbyists and oligarchs.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Gun restrictions have proven ineffective at stopping most violence. I believe the next step is a lot of research and then some controlled experiments in willing communities.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Agree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Election reform 1: ranked choice voting so we never have to choose the lesser of two evils. Election reform 2: end gerrymandering so government officials have to be more responsive to their constituents. Election reform 3: nonbinding democratic voting website to allow all voters to vote on all legislation so everyone knows when a politician votes against the wishes of their constituents.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

The greater threat is the growing opportunity gap between the children of the wealthy and the poor. This is leading to race riots and other problems. The first step to ending this threat is to end the war on drugs and stop using it as an excuse to break up families.
