What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
All people, both born again Christians and non Christians, descend from an ancestral line of sinners. Therefore we are all born with a sin nature and part of that sin nature makes us subject to things such as greed and abuse of power. Our forefathers knew this and through divine inspiration developed a system of government to hold us “in check” against our most carnal and self serving desires. SEE BELOW in BOX for Question 33
Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God, Voters, Constitution, Congress, Supreme Court
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I do not believe abortion should be allowed under any circumstance other than the life of the mother being at risk.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at an early age at Markham Street Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. I grew up in a Christian home and as a family we were very involved in our church and faith related activities. I believe that the Bible is the infallible, inspired word of God and believe that the only pathway to heaven is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Lisa and I chose to invest in a Christian education for our children, not for the academic emphasis but because we wanted our Children to be educated in a Christian world view environment. My faith is the most important part of my being.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?
Very Conservative
Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.
In the area of social conservative - I voted in favor and coauthored every pro life bill presented on the floor of the Texas House in the 83rd and 84th sessions. I also coauthored and voted for the Pastor Protection bill in the 83rd and 84th sessions. In the area of fiscal conservative - I voted for and coauthored the Franchise Tax Reduction bill and the Homestead Exemption Increase bill in the 84th session. I voted for, coauthored and joint authored bills removing any state money for toll roads. I voted for the appropriations bill in the 84th session that grew less than population plus inflation. I voted against the appropriations bill in the 83rd session that I felt was not as conservative as it should have been. I voted for the elimination of several occupational licenses where the health of the public was not in question.

Additional comment from candidate:
additional comments for question 24 - Throughout history there are countless examples where absolute power corrupts absolutely – we have a system, while constantly threatened, is designed to prevent such behavior by placing power first in the hands of the people and then, with the consent of the people, in the hands of three separate branches of government.
