Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

State abortion laws are legislated by the state at the discretion of the representatives of the citizens of that state until or unless the Supreme Court of the United States hears a relevant case and is compelled to overturn their decision on Roe v. Wade. As a constitutional conservative, I believe we must respect state law, as a pro-life conservative, I also believe that the pro-life movement should be diligent to educate others about abortion with the goal of swaying our countrymen to value all living humans, no matter their stage of development or state of independence, so that our country's laws might honestly reflect that value if the people so choose.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Selfishness and greed. Humans are weak to power and power corrupts humanity. In order to maintain a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people," rather than of, by, and for the wealthy and powerful, our constitution mandates the protection of the people's rights and the limiting of governmental powers.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

After being raised agnostic and studying eastern (formally) and western religions (informally) in college, I converted to Christianity. I have since grown into a conservative, biblical Christian that firmly understands the need to be gracious and tolerant of mankind, as not one of us is perfect or more intrinsically valuable than any other.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Unemployment is best reduced by increasing economic growth. The better businesses do, the more people they hire.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

This one has us in quite a pickle now, doesn't it? There are times I wish healthcare was like auto care, with the basic things like dental cleanings, eye exams, and check-ups as affordable as oil changes, and many insurance options available to cover catastrophic events and whatever other concerns each individual felt was necessary and/or wise. It looks to me like the system we have right now needs a comprehensive overhaul. We're spending a LOT of taxpayer money, and healthcare access/cost/quality don't appear to be getting any better despite more people having coverage. I believe there is room to work with charities and non-profits to cover the healthcare needs of those not covered by medicaid, medicare, or private insurance. I also believe we can help ensure basic care (like dental cleanings) are covered better through better prioritization of federal funds (i.e. not mandating coverage of expensive 3D mammograms ($2k each), when the less expensive one would be sufficient.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

As small of a supportive role as possible.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have a BA in psychology which has trained me to look for core issues rather than being satisfied by quick fixes or "bandaid solutions". I've also been a stay-at-home mom for 16 years, which means I've spent most of my adult life fiercely advocating for other people. This is the essence of state representatives in American government; we advocate for our constituents...we make their voices heard and their values and concerns known. The role is one that must be both leader and servant in the same moment or you have missed the mark.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

As a conservative, most voters want to know my position on President Trump. When it comes to our president, I will acknowledge what he does well, and call out what I believe he needs to work on. If you need it said more clearly than that, Gorsuch = Good, Omnibus = Bad. As one eternally grateful for life and liberty, it would be my honor to represent WA State's 45th district with boldness, integrity and accountability.
