QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When the life of the mother is in jeopardy.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Disagree

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Firstly, we must get spending under control. We need a balanced budget and to cut all the unnecessary spending happening in Washington. And our growing national debt is a grave threat to our national security. Our tax system should encourage our economy to grow, not hinder it and those who create jobs in our country. Our tax system has also historically been complicated and burdensome, punishing entrepreneurship and Main Street job creators. Many provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act must be made permanent (currently set to expire in 2025), including the individual tax rates and on S Corporations (pass through entities). I am strongly opposed to the radical proposals recently put forth by the Biden administration and the Democrats, such as taxing unrealized gains and raising the corporate tax rate.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The First Amendment was put in place to protect every religion from the corrupting influence of the state, not to disallow religious influence from affecting politics. My faith is a large part of who I am. It teaches me to love my neighbor and to better the world around me so that all people can prosper. I cannot just abandon that belief system when I go to work, it is much too central to my identity. This is why I worked with the Trump administration to protect religious liberty and support faith-based adoptions in the Upstate of South Carolina. Rest assured, I will always fight to maintain the proper role of faith in American society that our framers envisioned.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

The Biden administration pursued unconstitutional vaccine mandates for the Covid-19 vaccine. I am strongly opposed to the mandates and introduced legislation to block them. I also supported the successful lawsuits that struck these mandates down in court. Biden completely acted outside of his authority as President, which is why conservative judges are so important.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

The United States military needs the capability to kill or capture radical Islamic terrorists that pose a threat to our homeland through a variety of means anywhere in the world at the time of our choosing. That is why I have been a vocal proponent of increasing military funding throughout my time in Congress. The September 11th terrorists attacks showed us that we cannot ignore radical jihadists, even if they are half a world away.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I support immigration to the U.S. but only LEGAL immigration from people who respect our laws, go through the proper channels, and wait their turn. What is happening at our border is an undeniable crisis that is only getting worse due to the Left’s open border policies. I have been to the border and seen firsthand the challenges our border patrol agents face. We need to secure our border immediately.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My faith teaches me to serve others and the community. I would say it was not only a call of faith to serve but a sense of duty. I am a proud lifelong Christian, and my faith is a large part of who I am and how I serve in Congress.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I believe the right to vote is fundamental to our republic. We also have a duty to restore confidence in our election system and the public’s trust that their vote is counted and their voice is heard. I support Voter ID laws and other safeguards that make it easier to vote and much harder to cheat. We must also ensure that every legal vote is counted and that results are made public in an accurate and timely manner. From registering to vote to casting your ballot to final tabulation, we must ensure the safety and security of our elections throughout every step of the process.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I believe racism is real and it exists here in America, but it is not who we are or a fundamental part of our nation. The Left uses race and marxist ideologies like Critical Race Theory to try and divide us as a nation. Looting and rioting, like we saw in 2020, can never be the answer for protesting.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My priorities in Washington are holding the Biden administration accountable, keeping our nation safe, defending the rule of law, protecting life, stopping government waste, supporting our 2nd amendment rights, securing our border, unleashing American energy, and fighting the Democrats reckless policies that have led to record inflation and sky-high gas prices.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

There are already plenty of laws on the books. Further restrictions on our Second Amendment rights only hurt law-abiding and responsible gun owners, and do not keep guns out of the hands of criminals. I am a proud gun owner, and I will fight any and every attempt by Democrats to destroy our Second Amendment right to protect ourselves and disarm American citizens.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree
