This candidate voted for H.R. 485, the Protecting Care for All Patients Act, which would prohibit federal health programs from using discriminatory measures known as Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs.) A vote for the bill is a pro-life position that indicates opposition to reducing or eliminating care for people with various disabilities and chronic conditions.

I along with fellow pro-life members of Congress sent an Amicus Brief to the US Supreme Court urging the Court to hold the FDA accountable for betraying women & girls when it removed its safety standards that prioritized their health and well-being. Women and girls should have the ongoing care of a doctor when taking high-risk drugs. The US Supreme Court should hold the FDA accountable and ensure the agency reinstates the safety standards it originally deemed necessary for these types of drugs.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
To prevent the death of the mother in case of a medical emergency with some exceptions for rape or incest reported to appropriate authorities.
Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?
I supported the overturning of Roe v. Wade so states could be the drivers of these policies, but the federal government does have a role to play. For instance, I have worked to pass legislation such as: - To prohibit our tax dollars from being used to pay for abortions. I voted for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act and appropriations riders like the Hyde Amendment, which limit taxpayer dollars from being used for abortions in many federal programs. The Hyde Amendment alone has saved more than 2.5 million lives since its first passage in 1976. - To protect babies who are born alive after a failed abortion. I voted for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would ensure that an infant born alive during an attempted abortion is afforded the same degree of medical care as any other newborn of the same gestational age.
ECONOMY
What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?
Continuing to oppose reckless spending in Washington, working to rein in spending and inflation to help lower interest rates and the cost of living, continuing President Trump’s tax cuts, supporting American jobs, and addressing our national debt.
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Millions of Americans worked hard to pay off their student loans because they knew that when they borrowed the money, they would have to pay it back. Biden “forgiving” student loan debt means those who never even went to college are now responsible for footing the bill for those who did. Forcing hard-working taxpayers to foot the bill for student loans they didn’t borrow is wrong, and I will continue to oppose President Biden’s attempts to use your money for someone else’s loan.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
ESG metrics are simply a political tool that have no impact on financial performance or risk. The House Financial Services Committee, of which I am a member, is pushing back against the Securities and Exchange Commission, which is seeking to mandate ESG disclosures, something only Congress would have the power to authorize. ESG should have no place on our legislative or regulatory agenda. ESG is just another example of the Left weaponizing government to implement their woke agenda.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The First Amendment was put in place to protect every religion from the corrupting influence of the state, not to disallow religious influence from affecting politics. Many of us cannot just abandon our religious belief system when we go to work. I will always fight to maintain the proper role of faith in American society that our framers envisioned.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
The Biden administration pursued unconstitutional vaccine mandates for the Covid-19 vaccine. I am strongly opposed to mandates and introduced legislation to block them. I also supported successful lawsuits that struck these mandates down.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. Israel is our greatest ally in the Middle East. Our partnership is rooted not just in strategic interests, but in our shared values of democracy, freedom, and justice. This critical alliance not only shapes the destiny of our nations but also upholds the very principles that define our civilization. We must send a clear message to the world: the United States stands unequivocally with Israel.
What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?
I am proud to serve as a Captain in the South Carolina Air National Guard. I believe the U.S. military is the greatest force for good in the world, but under the Biden administration, we have strayed from our main purpose: to fight and win wars. Biden’s woke ideology is not a good fit for our military and not in our nation’s best interest. A strong national defense is one of the core functions of the federal government. We must keep our citizens safe.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

We MUST finish the wall and secure our border for good. I will continue to support President Trump’s plan to reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy. The future of our country depends on it.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I support LEGAL immigration into the United States. But only LEGAL immigration from people who respect our laws, go through the proper channels, and wait their turn in line. What is happening at our southern border is destroying our country. I have personally traveled to the border myself and I have seen firsthand the challenges our border patrol agents face. We MUST secure our border immediately. IMMEDIATELY.

I firmly oppose the Green New Deal. While reducing emissions can be a goal, it should not require reducing energy choices. Private sector innovation, American resources, and R&D investment have resulted in lower emissions and affordable energy. What many do not know is that the U.S. is already a global leader in reducing emissions, but China has more emissions than the entire developed world combined. I support an ‘all of the above’ energy strategy, without increasing regulations or taxes.

I believe we need to use an “all of the above” strategy that includes fossil fuels, natural gas, and some renewable energy sources.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?
At its core, the federal government’s most important function is to keep its citizens safe, to protect our freedom, and regulate commerce between the states. Unfortunately, it seems like the Biden administration only wants to grow the federal government and create a new woke ideology. The best decisions are made by people closest to the citizens that are impacted by policy. For example, in education I believe we should return more power to state and local governments.

Law enforcement is the last place we need liberal woke standards. As a former local prosecutor, I stand with law enforcement 100% and will never support the Democrats’ dangerous and reckless calls to defund the police. These brave men and women in law enforcement put their lives on their line each and every day for our safety – they deserve all of our support and all the resources necessary to do their jobs.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
As a former local prosecutor, I know that there are already plenty of gun laws on the books. Further restrictions on Second Amendment rights only hurt law-abiding citizens and punish responsible gun owners. Radical liberals in Congress continue to push and propose new laws that do not keep guns out of the hands of criminals. I am proud to own many guns, and I will fight any and every attempt by Democrats to destroy the Second Amendment right to protect ourselves.
