Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am endorsed by Texas Alliance for Life and Texans for Life Coalition’s LIFE PAC for helping to author and pass pro-life legislation. I was honored to jointly author one of Governor Abbott’s pro-life priority laws during the 85th special legislative session. I am a pro-life family physician and believe that all life is sacred from the moment of implantation until natural death. Consistent with my pro-life beliefs, the only exceptions that I countenance for abortion are rape, incest, and tragic complications that make a pregnancy unable to survive outside the womb or threaten the mother’s life.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Constitution separated the powers of government into three branches of government, enacting a checks and balances system to prevent any one part of the government from accumulating too much power and threatening the people’s liberty. It is important for elected leaders to recognize that our government’s powers are enumerated. If the Constitution does not specifically name a power, it should be assumed to reside with the people and their respective states.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. Jesus Christ is my personal Lord and Savior, and I live to serve him everyday. I regularly participate in medical mission trips with my church, Coryell Community Church. I believe that God calls us to use our abilities to his service and to share the love of Jesus with those around us. As a physician, medical missions are one way I am able to do this. As a state representative, I do my best to do the right thing and be a model for integrity. That is why I have turned down my state pension, because this job is about serving others, just like Jesus modeled for us in the Bible.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am honored to serve as state representative for House District 59, a rural district of small towns that stretches from west of Waco to southwest of Fort Worth. I have consistently helped to author, sponsor, and support legislation to secure the border, end sanctuary cities, reduce spending, reduce taxes, reduce regulation, defend innocent life, and preserve our rural Texas values. I have received endorsements from pro-life organizations, groups that represent our local small businesses owners, and public schools, which are all essential to thriving communities in rural Texas. Every vote I take is consistent with my conservative principles and the needs and challenges of the rural Texas communities that I represent.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Government can reduce unemployment by reducing regulations that slow down economic growth and reduce taxes so that businesses have more money to grow. By investing in our rural schools and workforce development, we can empower individuals to work hard and live the American Dream, while also growing our small-town Texas economies.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

As a physician, I have seen the devastating effects of Obamacare first hand. We need to repeal Obamacare and replace it with commonsense, responsible legislation that will reduce the cost of medical care and keep the government out of the relationship between patients and their physicians. By reducing burdensome regulations and costly mandates, we can lower the cost of medical care, increase the number of people who can afford private health insurance, and see an overall net improvement in medical care. I first ran for office out of a love for my patients. I have worked hard to solve the challenges that we face, especially in rural Texas.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Government should reduce and streamline regulations, run efficiently, and provide an opportunity for the free enterprise system to grow jobs and businesses. This leads to more opportunity, higher incomes, and stronger economies. By supporting top quality schools, we help to prepare our rising generation of Texans with the skills they need to pursue their own American Dream and be productive, contributing citizens.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I earned my college degree from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, and I graduated from medical school at the University of North Texas. I am very active in my community, through church, civic groups, and supporting our schools. This job is about faithful service, integrity, and hard work. I’ve done my best to represent the needs of our rural community, help solve problems, and I look forward to keeping up the good work we’ve started.

The honor of my life is to be a family physician serving people in rural Texas communities. I am active in my community, supporting our local schools and their sports teams, Boys and Girls Club, the Exchange Club, the Volunteer Fire Department, and my church communities at Coryell Community Church and First Baptist Church in Gatesville. As State Representative, I do everything I can to lead with integrity, work hard, and solve problems. I serve the families and businesses that I represent to the best of my ability.
