QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

As a member of the Indiana General Assembly, I supported and voted for Indiana to have some of the strongest abortion laws in the country.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the mother.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Choose not to answer

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Everyone should be allowed to worship as they please provided the Religion is not hateful and causes harm to others.

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

As a longtime Catholic I support the Christian faith including the Gospel and Biblical principals.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Separation of church and state provides boundaries for each entity when decisions are made.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

Having a strong military is one way to maintain peace along with diplomacy.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Neutral

It is not the government's role to provide health to provide health insurance for everyone. However, we do have Medicaid that will step in for those who are unable to afford health insurance as well as those that are most vulnerable and need to be provided medical services.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The Affordable Care Act turned out to be unaffordable. There are so few insurance companies that they control the market. Onerous regulations like prior authorizations cost hospitals and physicians extra work and put patients at risk. Prior Authorization should not be allowed. Indiana continues to create policies that help Hoosiers reduce medical costs.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Livable income is different for every community. The government should only do for residents what they cannot do for themselves. Nearly everyone has the ability to obtain a job and contribute to their communities.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

I believe in free markets, less regulation and private property rights.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Taxpayer funded education should be provided only through K-12.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We need to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse of government programs. Over 1/3 of Medicaid recipients are not eligible. We need to ensure that the Medicaid funds are available to those that really need it.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Immigration should only be allowed through legal means.

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

Teachers should be allowed to carry guns at school provided the governing body approves and the teacher has received training.

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I support red flag laws.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1.Continue to work on reducing property taxes for all including the assessment process, especially for seniors 2. Policies to eliminate barriers and regulations for affordable housing 3. Policies to improve educational outcomes.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Choose not to answer

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am a strong fiscal conservative and have voted for conservative policies during my tenure in the Senate.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have been a leader in many organizations and understand how to work with everyone. I am considered a consensus builder which is so important as a member of the General Assembly. Also, as a long-time small business owner I understand how regulations and laws impact business and consumers.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

no

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am considered one of the hardest working legislators in the General Assembly and pride myself on being a great listener with an open mind.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a long time practicing Catholic and believe in treating everyone as your equal and how they want to be treated.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

You need a photo ID for almost everything so voting should not be any different.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No, I don't believe racism is a threat to domestic security. Everyone should be treated the same.
