QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
After extensive debate, the Texas Legislature has settled the abortion issue within its borders. There is no need to reopen the issue.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
To preserve the life of the mother and/or the child
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Every life is precious regardless of its stage of development.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
Life is life. It is not our place to redefine or demean it.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Neutral
Need to study this. My first reaction is that it creates a national edict that is somewhat similar to the Roe v Wade edict that mandated in the opposite direction. Rather than deliver a consensus on the evil of abortion, it might fortify the opposition. I would prefer the more difficult route of moral awakening.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Minimum wage benefits labor organizations to justify their wage increases. It can prevent access to labor markets by young and unskilled workers who can learn a trade and then progress to added value and higher income.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Private property is the linchpin of the American experience.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
- Create Texas DOGE to address high property taxes - Restore majority party rule to the Texas legislature. The governing Republicans currently have two factions. One is American First. The second is a coalition of the older and wealthier establishment Republicans and Democrats. - Create a Texas Sovereign Bank to capitalize on the coming acceptance of gold as legal tender in Texas. This can make Texas fiscal policy less subject to destructive Federal Reserve policies like inflation.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The Constitution only mentions that there will be no national church. The separation concept stems from letters that Thomas Jefferson wrote to assure the Puritans that they could worship freely. It is wildly misunderstood. The founding fathers always considered faith and moral accountability as central to governance.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Government's first responsibilitiy is to maintain and reinforce moral behavior.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Every citizen should have access to private healthcare. The Trump idea to route funding for medical care to the individual rather than the insurance company is a golden idea. It can retain Medicare while massively reducing excessive billing.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Neutral
The government should not be involved in healthcare decisions. There might be value in a database of healthcare issues (I suspect it already exists somewhere). If it would exist, access should be strictly limited to healthcare professionals and the patient. It should be an information only tool with no ability to suggest treatment.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
21st century war is not fought with blood and bullets. It is economic and psychological. The CCP has ambitions to replace America as the dominant world power. It has built this ambition upon theft and exploitation of American innovation. In order to maintain American prosperity and strength, we must confront Chinese graft.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes, but our relationship must be redefined from military protector to economic and spiritual partner. Bringing peace to the Middle East requires more cooperation with Arab states by both American and Israeli leaders.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
Security is the first responsibility of the national government defined by the Constitution. Local and state governments have no right to jeopardize or disregard national security.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
By every measure, the quality of American education has declined since the creation of the Department of Education. It should be eliminated, and any federal funds under its direction should be routed to the states. Parents and students can achieve much greater input at the state and local levels.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
American colleges are compromised by foreign money. Worse yet, it puts them increasingly out of touch with their primary mission to prepare students for the future. Student tuition needs to become a larger portion of college budgets to restore focus on student success.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
There is no more important job than being a parent. Government cannot take that job away.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
There are few things more cruel.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Strongly Disagree
Gambling is typically a last ditch effort to promote economic activity. It does not generate the level of prosperity that conventional business activity does. It is ultimately morally corrosive.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a CS Lewis Christian. I believe that a relationship with God is our unavoidable destination. We might resist it. We might question it. But, sooner or later, it is irrevocable. Sooner is better. It make life much more fulfilling.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Every voter must provide identification. Every election must be subject to audit.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
We are done with woke. While corporations and governments are lagging, the rest of us have moved past race. Just as every life is precious, every individual chooses a unique path. We rise and fall as we learn. Focusing on race can only keep us from learning and delay our successes.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
How did this craziness ever get started?
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Strongly Disagree
There is no evidence that it is urgent. Much of it is natural. Man-made impact should always be considered, but it should only be one part of wise and beneficial decisions.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Oil and gas are the immediate future. Clean fusion energy and battery innovation are expanding energy options. We are also seeing more efficient utilization of energy, and this may be just as important.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I dislike labels. I'd rather discuss issues.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
Enforce existing law. Too much of our judiciary is attempting to make law rather than interpret. Legislators must be diligent in appointing judges who will restore the judiciary.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Simple to say and hard to do. Government can legislate, but it is more important to inform and empower parents.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
Sharia is a Middle Ages doctrine of authoritarian rule that diminishes women and non-Muslims. Around 25% of Muslims disregard Sharia in favor of a modern life. To the extent that we can, we must encourage this transition.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Current restrictions are adequate. There are at least a hundred things in every home that can inflict harm if improperly used. While guns require more oversight and safety, they are no different.
